Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Great golf course
I have played it off and on since it opened and it remains one of my favorites. Great layout and greens, very fun to play.
Awesome conditions
This is a fantastic course with a very friendly staff. The fairways and greens were in fantastic shape even though it had just rained the day before. I didn't get a chance to try the food at the turn but the twosome I was joined with couldn't stop raving about the excellent menu and flavorful food.
All in all, this is a must course if you have the time while visiting Napa.
Plenty of Challenges on this Course
There are plenty of challenges on this course. There is water to cross and the greens are fast and convoluted. But we had a great time. The views from various points on the course are great – grape vines and hills.
Some of the shots to the green are nearly blind because of the growth of trees. These probably should be pruned back.
Chardonnay is in Fantastic Shape!
Played Chardonnay yesterday...course was in great shape...greens rolling true, fairways clearly defined and tight, rough fairly uniform. If a superintendent can't grow grass after all the rain we've had, he should quit the biz. That is clearly NOT the case on this track. Greens were rolling around 10, very fair for the windy conditions, and good pin placements clearly defined on the green chart. Pace of play was awesome...no one in front of us or behind us. Only 2 negatives - the bunkers are a real hazard as there is little sand in them and very inconsistent - typical of many courses in the area after the drought; The snack shop was closed at the turn - probably due to lack of people out on the course. Overall, it was a great day on a beautiful, fun and challenging course in 15+ mph wind.
Perfect
Lovely marker anniversary outing. Lovely course. Highly advise.
Many Great Holes
I played an early morning round as a single and got around in less than three hours, thanks also to a couple of foursomes that had me play through. I was happily surprised with the overall course design. I didn't feel there were any gimmicky holes, and the five sets of tees should suit anyone. The course conditions were very good; the greens all rolled about the same and were quite smooth. There was quite a bit of elevation change. There is a lot of space between some of the holes, which coupled with the elevation change and the heat of the day would make it a difficult course to walk - I'm not sure if walking is supported there. The only bad condition I observed related to the bunkers, which previous golfers had not raked out, nor had they been groomed by the staff. It's unfortunate enough to find yourself in a bunker, let alone in a deep heel depression that makes the next shot very difficult to play well, right?
I also appreciated that there were quite a few water coolers in place with icy-cold, fresh, water. So many courses have funky-tasting water that make you wonder if the coolers have ever been cleaned.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the facilities were spotless, On the whole, a great golf experience; I'll be back.
Spectacular setting
It doesn't get more scenic than this course. The facilities are dated and it's definitely a low key public course but playing on a course surrounded by vineyards is a memorable experience. Truly spectacular.
Great track
One of my favotite courses in the bay area. Even though we have had a ridiculous amount of rain this winter, the course is in very good shape and the greens are firm. Highly recommend this course if you are looking for a well maintained, challenging course.
Beautiful landscapes
Beautiful surroundings Course in good shape. Tricky but super enjoyable. Pace, ooops, very slow. Definitely excellent value for the price.
Vineyard Picture Perfect
What a gorgeous setting for golf. I am a high handicapper so it was super challenging for me but the guys enjoyed it a lot and I did too. Varied terrain, lots of wildlife. Worth a trip!
Sanded greens
Chardonay is a pretty golf course but on the day I played it the greens were still sanded.I think they charged to much for the confitions.
Course Conditions
The course was quite wet in several places but considering the amount of rain Napa has gotten this year I think the course is in remarkable shape. The tee boxes and greens are in quite good condition and even though the fairways are a little soft they're all well groomed and quite playable.
Making adjustments
I have played this course many times. The layout is fabulous and very challenging, great par 3's and 6 par 5's.
Unfortunately, the range was closed, the greens were plugged and sanded(not noted) and the tees were in rough shape.
A truly great links course.
Chardonnay Golf Club
Due to all the recent rains the course was soggy, the driving range closed and it was cart path only. That being said, the potential for a wonderful round is there. The layout is challenging and the views are magnificent. I'll definitely play here again to get the full affect.
Beautiful course but conditions could be better
This is the second time I've golfed Chardonnay in the last year or so. It's a fun course but was disappointed both times with the fairway conditions, very soggy despite no rain. I say this because the day before I golfed at a nearby course where conditions where much better. Also, the sand traps were in pretty bad shape.
Soggy but good time
This course has seen better days and for the intermediate golfer can be quite challenging.
All the par 3 holes have drop areas and they need them since it seems that the way they aligned the tee boxes, hole 5 and hole 12 are almost inaccessible from the white tees. All in all the course was what I expected it to be.
Course was in good shape after all the rains
Staff was wonderful and friendly. Course was still a little soggy after all of the rains, but greens were in good condition.
