Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Beautiful and peaceful place to play
I have played here a couple times on the weekends, and it can be a pretty slow pace of play. However, during the week is a different story. Still a good amount of traffic, yet nothing to make you lose your mind over. Course was in excellent condition. It is a tough course with greens that have some crazy slope. Lower your expectations of play, enjoy the surrounding beauty, and just have fun.
Great Layout
The course layout is the classic 3/3/3 on the front and back (3 par 3/3 par 4/3 par 5), my favorite. The layout was beautifully done by the architect where the view from every tee shot is just the hole in front of you, the vineyards and the natural layout of your surroundings. Course conditions were a little beat up, but we played on a Monday in late October only a few days after the fires were contained. No smoke from the fires, but you could see where the fire had burned the hills north of the course. We played the Imperial Tees.
Worth it
I teed off as a single at 8am. I hit extra shot on/around every green, and I still finished at 11:45.
Course is in all around excellent shape. No wind on front 9 this day, but it started to pick up at the turn and I was undone at 16 and 17, which are difficult in best of circumstances, but dead into a 15-20 gust was daunting.
Don't let possible breezy conditions scare you though. The course is challenging but fair, and a great layout.
Great Day
A beautiful day on a well cared for course. Fairways were well maintained and the greens nicely manicured. i will definitely be back.
Great course
This is one the best courses in the bay area, from tee to green ,very nice layout and beautiful vistas. Of the Naps valley. I will definitely. Recommend this. Course I will play it again...
Overbooked, slow, rude pro shop staff.
Young gentleman with the half sleeve tattoo in his right arm in the pro shop was super rude, completely swamped course with 3-4 groups on every hole after teeing off at 3pm. Play came to a complete standstill at hole 12. Ended up spending the rest of the afternoon fishing golf balls out of the vineyards. Pro shop closes at 5pm so forget about getting your money back. Eaglevines consistently does a better job of managing pace of play. Course conditions Are good but it's hard to enjoy them with 10 minute waits for every shot on every hole.
Fairways and vineyards
Chardonnay golf course is beautiful it is very well maintained. My friend Douggiefresh and I played there on Monday and we had a blast. The pace of play was perfect we joined up with another twosome and had a great day. Greens are in perfect shape. Driving through each hole Surrounded by the vineyards what is not to like.
Unbelievable! A vineyard !!!
Visiting from the east coast, this is by far the most beautiful course I've ever played.
Slow play
The course was in great shape and the greens were rolling extremely true. The only issue with the round was that it took over 5 hours to play. I loved the layout and the scenery, but it is tough to be mentally prepared for a 5 hour round on a Tuesday at 1pm.
good links style course
This course was in excellent condition, most especially the greens. Always a challenge when the winds pickup.
The only criticism I have, for the first three holes the entire greens keeping staff was working on the course and the pins were out on holes 1 and 2.
Some ups and some downs
The course itself was in good condition and you can't beat the scenery surrounded by vineyards and meandering through the countryside. Easy to book, friendly people, tons of wind (but that's obviously not the course's issue).
There really were 2 challenges.
First, the course itself has a challenging layout in terms of getting from one hole to another and some of the holes are captive to the terrain, which takes it beyond challenging to just frustrating. Of course, it always depends on how well you're playing - if you're having a good, accurate day, the ravines and inclines won't matter to you...
Second, teeing off later in the afternoon, we were supposed to be able to cruise through. However, there apparently are members who show up and expect to be able to do whatever they want. On the first tee, a member jumped in front of us without saying a word. That then happened at least 2 more times and, for the latter 2, we had to wait, which included a member who was taking 2-3 shots from each ball. Add to that the fact that clearly some people play with range balls and then leave them on the course, as we found range balls on almost every hole, that can be very frustrating.
It's worth another shot, but we ended up not being able to finish 18 since the gate closes at 8pm and the members jumping in front of us slowed us down too much.
I had a great time..Staff is awesome in particular Zach and Paula
First timer
Had a great experience. Loved the layout with the extra par 5's and par 3's. Fairways were beautiful and tight and the greens rolled true and held their line. Would love to play here more often if I only lived closer.
Frustrating afternoon, no supervision.
Now I played all through high school on the team so I'm sympathetic to sharing the course with them now that I'm older. I think 3-4 hours for a 9 hole women's match is Ridiculous. Our coach would have never allowed that. No starter on the tee, golfers jumping ahead of the match and other players unsupervised, huge mess on the course and no marshall anywhere. Several golfers heading out on the back nine ahead of other golfers without any consideration from the club house about those making the turn. If you're going to let high school players on the course for free, please remember your PAYING customers and supervise the event. Never finished the round. Ended up skipping all over the course avoiding the match and the jammed up golfers. Disaster.
Windy
Played on a very windy day. Not my first time on the course. The bunkers are a little shabby with lots of wet packed clay like sand. Greens rolling nicely, Tee boxes in good shape with a few bumpy spots. Nice fairways with the occasional crab grass patch. Nice driving range with actual grass to hit off of. Challenging course from the back tees, especially in the wind.
Beautiful
Greens in perfect condition, course layout makes you want to play as many rounds as possible during your vacation up here.
Look forward to more !
Aloha
Nice course
Greens are well kept! Some challenging holes but really fun!
Worth a trip
Other than a few water collection spots on an occasional fairway, the course is in terrific shape tee to green as you play your way through the vineyards. Wind required some thought in playing, but it wasn't as strong to be frustrating. Forgiving fairways throughout, but be prepared for all shape and sizes of greens.
Staff is friendly and works to get you out as quickly as possible.
Last but not least - enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Napa Valley!
Good course for the money
Green are slow but excellent pace of play and easy to book
