Chardonnay Golf Club

First time at Chardonnay - excited to play - hoped it compared favorably to Eagle Vines - it dd not - extremely slow - poor conditions overall - not an interesting layout - goofy greens complexes - not worth what they ask - it is a perfect example of the deterioration of public golf courses - not walkable - we won't be back - I am not sure why anyone would pay their inflated prices when you have better options - I doubt this will be a golf course in a few years.

Nice course, buttoo expensiv and pace of play was slow, only saw marshall once. Very windy on the day I played.
I liked the par 3's with the dramatic elevation changes.
You have to use a cat because of the distance between holes

course is well maintained, but cart paths are in bad shape

start to finish, great views and fast complex greens. A few quirky holes that will challenge players of all levels. Don't be surprised by the length no matter what tee box you play from, your challenges will be putting (huge, well designed greens) and the wind in the afternoon. Bring all your clubs, you will need them but you will enjoy every shot. I highly recommend grabbing some buds and getting a round in here. Well worth the trip.

What a course! First of all the format of 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s & 6par 5s is genius. Second, the course is immense and intricate. Third, the greens are divided into 6 pin positions. This all makes for some BIG Golf.

You get the sense that you are going on a journey through Chardonnay. Throughout the course you never see more than two or three other holes at the same time. Along the way there are meandering streams with water wheels and quaint fences to add not just a bit of character. The chardonnay vineyards act as rough in some parts which make it easy to find that errant ball... but impossible to hit it.

Besides not sporting an island green, the course offers every kind of hazard and golf challenge one can imagine. Do yourself a favor and bring a rangefinder. There are so many important yardages besides the green/pin. This course is for the experienced golfers... I could see this place backing up big time with high handicappers.

The course deserves 5 stars for course design, interest and conditions.

Go play Chardonnay... but make sure you bring your A game for the most enjoyment.

Course was stellar, nobody was around us so had it to ourselves, a fun and intriguing place to play. We played from 4pm onwards, the only bad thing was that the bar was closed when we finished at 8 so the 19th home was out, it seems this is the case at a lot of courses these days, so sad.

The course was being used for a college golf tournament. The pro shop made no effort to inform us that play would be inordinately slow. Tee time was delayed then long waits at every hole. Left in frustration after nine holes.

The old guy in the pro shop told us there would be no chance of starting earlier than our t-time which was fine. When we got our cart the pro asked if we wanted to t-off after the next group, 30 mins earlier than our t-time so we did. I use golf now a lot and whenever you get a good deal the people at the proshop treat you poorly. This has happened at almost every course. If they don't want to give deals why do they?

First time out on this course. Very grateful that there was water available to drink, very hot day to play. The course is very scenic and also very long for a novice golfer, even playing from the gold tees!! Greens were tricky to putt on with many breaks which were difficult to read......but still a nice experience.

A couple of straight forward holes, and a few very challenging make for a nice mix.

Great course, well maintained, go there for golf, not for the service at the restaurant. Earwig in the cream, no apology, actually laughed about it! We finished our breakfast and she brought us our toast afterwards, no apology again.

I have played this course for a few years, and it has never been in this good of shape. Very nice place to play.

Greens were true and fairways were in great shape. Tee'd off @ 7:20am and finished our round just before 11:00. Definitely coming back!!

Played here twice during a napa valley visit. The first day was so windy that it was difficult to stand and the greens were fast. Came back for a second try and enjoyed the experience. The greens are fast and narrow. Difficult to hold. Winding thru the vineyards was pleasant.

This Napa course is well worth your time to play. Set amongst the vineyards the course has gone thru several changes and turned out the better for it. Holes are fair and interesting. Two holes back to back are the 7th and 8th. The 7th is a long par 5 with the third shot over a ravine to a greeen on the side of the hill. The 8th is a par 3 downhill shot to a 4 level green. The pace of play was good and the weather was perfect.

Love this course. Course maintenance is excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know what has happen in the last 5 years but the condition of the course is poor. For the money I would think they could provide a better conditioned course. I've been to many city course in better shape. The greens were plugged about four weeks ago and I think they took all the sand out of the bunkers to sand the greens.

I stopped playing at Chardonnay several years ago when the greens and fairways were not well kept. I have now played Chardonnay 3 times in the last month. The new course superintendent has done an excellent job with everything... The fairways are in good condition and the greens are excellent!! They are smooth fast and difficult but fair as putts hold their line and are not bumpy.

narrow greens plus tight fairways are a definate challenge.
