City of Belfast GC
A busy and social course, with a mix of players. common to see groups playing here, the course stays open in rainy conditions at a very affordable fixed price as of this review. Quick access from motorway and enough parking. The course play ranges from quiet and relaxed to fast paced and a good exercise felt by the 9th, possibly a good speed run after work for many.
Great wee course, the first proper one I played on and I’ve been back a few times since. Really well looked after & haven’t had a bad experience yet.
Course conditions not great
Played in spring having previously played in late summer when course was starting to get some. Fairways are like compacted mud rather than spongy grass. It’s clear the course struggles with rain. 2 good holes, rest are relatively plain and straightforward. Price has risen 15% this year and prob makes it too expensive for me to play regularly for what you get
Staff Friendliness
Woman at reception was lovely couldn’t ask for nicer person.
Decent wee course, some members can ruin your experience
Lovely wee course, can’t expect much more for the money nowadays. However, on two separate occasions we have been berated by I can only assume a member of the club?
The first time the tees we had to play off were dictated after the first tee off, from a member playing in-front of us (there was no one behind us).
The second time, we had a tee time booked for a 3 ball at 1:20, and another for a 2 ball at 1:30. We got to the tee slightly early and there was a group infront still teeing off on the opening par 3. After they’d cleared the green we were about to tee off and there was already a 2 ball waiting for us to tee off at 1:20. So either the tee times were oversold or they were early as the tee times were booked on GolfNow and we were not informed anyone would be joining either tee times. It was their first tee, they were not coming back around to play the back 9. Trying to be courteous, We decided we’d turn our 3 ball and 2 ball into a 5 ball to reduce the delay for these people, so they could tee off sooner. However a member from the group infront, barked back at us after we had teed off that this was not allowed (delaying his own round to do so), and would not listen to any explanation or reason. This then affected the pace of play for all three of our groups. The 3 ball was being held up by the members’ 4 ball infront, and thus the two 2 ball games behind were held up for the round. No logic applied, ruined atleast 3 groups rounds of golf, but hey, I’m sure he felt a big man barking orders and not being mature enough to have a conversation about it.
The club should have a stern conversation with members like this as it is only going to deter people from paying for this course.
Should be city of belfast bog
Played only 9 whole course was like a bog ,even the fairways swallowed golf balls.suggest playing summer dry conditions only
Good little 9 hole course
Mallusk is a decent 9 hole course with a few challenging holes with number 3 probably being rhe hardest of them all. The price is probably the biggest plus at 13-16 quid for a round of 18 holes. The course is well maintained and grass cut regularly but you never see a greenkeeper on your round (safer for him if im out anyway 😂) you will obviously encounter some slower play due to novices being present on the course, this is partly to do with the low green fees but as is usually the case they all practice good golf etiquette and you should have no problems playing through if you move at a brisker pace than some others. I find its a great course for learning to play on. I have had some great rounds at it and thrown up some stinkers but its an affordable day out and in golf those places dont really exist anywhere and everyone wants to charge in excess of 25 quid to play a round.
Decent Course
Decent course. Bit wet in places but weather hasn’t been great, so not complaining. Favourite hole was the first.
Great value
Played Mallusk multiple times and will continue to play here great value for money, nicely layed out with hazards quite boggy at the minute but its been quite a wet and miserable year so far G.U.R markers are in place so the groundskeepers are trying their best. 5*
Don't waste your money
Awful conditions, awful layout, no directional signs between holes, boggy fairways, bumpy greens, people and children on the course .
18 holes
Great wee course and in tremendous condition.. a credit to the greenkeepers. Lovely staff too
