Rating 74.0

The 7,037 yard Clyde Johnston design at Eagle Landing weaves through the Florida landscape and takes on a vintage feel as he incorporates several of the classic design holes from around the world into the par-72 layout.

"My goal, says Johnston is to intersperse classic holes such as the Redan Hole, the Eden, and the Cardinal into the routing in order to lend a sense of purity to the golf experience at Eagle Landing. Those individual designs are so technically and aesthetically complete that they can truly elevate a golfing experience."

Johnston's philosophy in designing a Club course remains the same as his other courses; begin each nine relatively easy and progressively get harder. The Eagle Landing course offers six sets of tees, from championship to youth tees, allowing the course to play as easy or as difficult as desired. Johnston's previous designs in northeast Florida include Eagle Harbor Golf Club, St. Johns Golf & Country Club, and Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.

Eagle Landing also offers a magnificent golf clubhouse with sports bar, fully-stocked pro shop, his and her locker rooms, and an elegant restaurant overlooking sparkling water and lush fairways. The staff of PGA professionals will coordinate a host of exciting tournaments and events on the course and in the clubhouse.

One of My Go-To Courses in Orange Park

Eagle Landing is one of my favorite spots to play in the Orange Park area. Great layout, solid conditions, and a relaxing atmosphere—just be ready for slow play on weekends.

My take on it:

* The course is in great shape most of the time. Fairways are smooth, and the greens roll true with just enough challenge to keep things interesting.

* I really enjoy the layout. There’s a good mix of long holes, water hazards, and some well-placed bunkers that make you think a bit. It’s not overly punishing but definitely rewards smart play.

* The clubhouse and staff are great. They’ve always been friendly and helpful, and I like grabbing a bite or a drink after the round.

What could be better

* Pace of play can drag, especially on weekends or during busy times. I’ve had a few rounds stretch over five hours, which takes away from the overall experience a bit.

* Depending on when you go, the greens can be a little soft or slow if they’re recovering from maintenance, but that’s pretty typical.

I keep coming back because it’s a fun, well-designed course that offers a good challenge without being frustrating. It’s definitely worth playing if you’re in the area—just try to book an earlier tee time if you want to avoid backups.

Disappointed by Pace of Play Despite an Otherwise Great Experience

The course itself is in excellent condition, and many aspects of the experience were well-executed. However, the pace of play was a major letdown. At one par three, there was a group on the green, another on the tee, a third waiting, and we were fourth in line. That kind of backup really takes away from the enjoyment of the round.

Unfortunately, a five-hour-plus round just isn’t appealing, no matter how nice the course is. Until pace of play is better managed, I won’t be returning.

super slow and greens have not healed (very slow & bumpy)

paired us with 2 singles. one wanted to play tips (35 plus handicapper). hit 3 or more balls from many tees. i ended up not playing 5 plus holes because of slow play warnings on cart gps. ranger ignored me when i questioned if he was going to do anything about slow play. worst experience on a golf course in decades

slower than slow pace. slower than slow greens

paired our 3some with single on the 4th hole. he insisted on play from tips. must have been 38 handicap. by 7th hole was getting slow play warnings on gps. got him to move up a tee (should have been 2 or 3 tees more up). sat out 5 holes on back to get closer to pace of play requirements (that no one enforced). asked ranger when they went by. they shrugged and went on. didn't even get to play backnine (went off of 10).

greens were healing from being punched and very slow and bumpy. staff said course was in great shape. it was anything but great. hadn't played here in a long time. just moved back to area. won't be back any time soon. one star is too high.

Has gotten better.

I played this course in March, and the conditions were horrible. I took it out of the rotation. So we took a chance and decided to give it another go. I would say that it was a step in the right direction, even though they aerated and punched the greens about a week ago. I will play again.

Greens Need Work!

Usually love this course, but right now, greens are in pretty rough shape. They are working on them, so hopefully they will get back in shape. Might want to give them a month or two.

Eagle looks gooood!

Looking really really good right now. Greens are the best I have seen them in years. They are always good but are rolling pure currently. Pound for pound still the best public course in the area in my opinion.

Eagles Landing

It was a fun course with wide fairways. It is easy for people who have trouble hitting the ball perfectly straight.

Great place to work on your game. The food is fantastic. The staff is friendly and considerate..
