Great course for the money
I’m just going to get it out of the way: the bunkers here are in unplayable shape. But that’s the only thing wrong with the course. It’s in great shape otherwise and my favorite place to play in the Triangle. You rarely pay more than $25 to play. Great ride if you’re taking a cart - if you prefer to walk, some of the transitions from green to tee can be a bit challenging, but the terrain is pretty manageable overall.
This course is great for all skill levels. Just manage your expectations and understand that you aren’t getting a PGA Tour-level track for the price. It has everything you need from a golf course. If you insist on playing out of bunkers all day, this just isn’t the place for you. If you can look past this one blemish, you’ll have a great day out there.
Nice course
This is a nice course. It's not too difficult, but can be narrow at times, so stay out of the trees. Water doesn't come into play too much. Feels like a local course with some of the golfers not showing proper etiquette. Different feel from what you would expect from a private course. Golf cart paths were cracked which made for a bumpy ride, but the course itself was in very good shape.
Disappointed
I hesitated to write this but finally felt compelled. I'm not trying to trash the place since the people who work here are very very nice. It's the ownership I question. In 4 years nothing has been done to address the drainage and bunker issues as well as non fairway lack of attention. Changing the greens was a big move-I agrees. But bunkers and playable areas away from the fairways are a big part of golf. Why do you even own a golf course if you don't care about customer feedback. I understand the cost of maintenance is no small matter. But whenever the subject is broached with employees re: the maintenance of the bunkers and other course conditions no one can answer a question. The fairways are spotty and if you miss even by a little bit you are hitting off bare dirt at best. I'm a low digit players and hit most fairways but still am constantly trying to find an appropriate lie. This isn't fun. I understand the pandemic influences but the overall maintenance has been an issue long before. I ask ownership to at least address some of these issues in some manner whether it be in email format, a public announcement at the course or something else. Do you continue to keep people in the dark regarding this? I've heard through some that management/ownership are "golf nuts", which would indicate to me they really like golf and owning a course. Ground under repair rules don't cut it after 5 plus years of neglect.
Needs Work
Greens very bumpy, needs grass in fairways and for gods sake get the bunkers repaired.
Owners must be giving up on it
I went to play Falls Valley because I’m looking at a few courses to join monthly membership at and invited a client. The course is in horrible condition. The traps and bunkers have been given up on, completely. I’m not sure what’s going on here but the course could be beautiful if maintained. It looks like ownership is giving up on the course since they haven’t done anything to prepare a golf course during peak golf season. Baffling
Great greens, tough fairways. Where's the sand?
First time back in six months and as always, great greens however, please put anything in your bunkers or just fill them in. Not fun. Tee boxes were beat up alongs with 60% of the fairways. Was surprised because of all the rain we've had. Had to "tee up" several second approach shots due the poor fairway lies. All in all, great layout and greens but please fix those bunkers.
Nice Greens and fairways, but $$ too high with NO bunkers
Course in great shape, but Price is not adjusted for bunkers being OUT OF SERVICE for nearly 2 years.
Course is interesting and challenging.
The course was interesting. There are some very pretty holes. The greens were in good condition.
The center of most fairways was good, but as you move from center it is terrible. The side slopes are nothing but dried mud. The bunkers are especially bad. Many had water and lacked proper sand.
