Great layout but a little tight.
The course was in good shape for this time of year except for the bunkers. Either put sand in or fill them and make them grass bunkers . After the first few holes we took the option of moving the ball to where there was some sand but sometimeswe agreed to move completely out. Fix them and this would be a really nice course. It helps to have played before as several holes have hidden obstacles.
Why have I not played here before?
Booked a hot deal on golf now and I was really glad I did! First, we were running late. Called the pro shop ahead to check if that was okay. They assured me it was slow and they'd work it out for us. We arrived late and it was no sweat. Very friendly and was in and out quickly.
Second, signage could have been improved to know where 1 was since it was our first time out.
Next, fairways had a nice green fescue, rough was a thick bermuda, and the greens were surprisingly fast. I didn't find many bunkers but they seemed to be 50/50 in playabiilty.
Finally, I was really impressed with the course layout and the scenery. It is a beautiful course! It seems like this course is just a few steps away from being a really decent course to be proud of. I hope ownership sees that and makes the necessary improvements.
It helped that I played half way decent too.
Improved Conditions
Three months since last playing FV. Greens were good, fairways overseeded with rye and good but tight. Rough is tough where there is rough. Lots of hard pan on the edges. Sandtraps were "groomed", but we opted to play them as GUI.....didn't want to risk damaging clubs/wrists! Many of the rakes at the bunkers are broken or missing......
Great layout...condition is .better than when I played here in July. As many others have said, if they put some good/new sand (not pulverized red clay) in the traps, the course will be very good. Wouldn't pay over $35 to play in it's current state.
Noce course except for bunkers
Fairways and greens in good condition. Tee boxes were fair.. Bunkers on back nine were all void of sand and almost unplayable.
tuff
The hole location on one of the hols had not been changed for so long that the grass was dying around the hole. lots of the sand traps were nothing but clay. Idon't know if they are planing on adding sand, but no one told us these were drops. generally a bad round
Fairways
Greens and tee boxes were excellent. However the fairways needed some attention. Different types of grass and it seemed it was dead or burnt in a lot of places.
Pretty nice course
The course was in decent shape, but the greens needed attention. Apparently, most players do not fix their ball marks. The sand traps were in bad shape, and the cart paths will loosen your molars. It was still a good value, but the course needs a little TLC!
Greens
Overall the Golf Course was in good shape, but some of the greens needed to worked on.
Fairways were ok, greens were aerated and many of the bunkers were full of water and unplayable.
Not worth the $$ we spent.
The green weren't shaved enough and some were just in terrible condition.
9 holes
The course was in pretty good condition but a few of the greens where in bad condition.
Has potential
My daughter and I played here on a nice Sunday. We are both pretty new to playing golf so we try different places to get the practice. The clubhouse looked really nice from the outside. Once we got inside you can tell they did not use the space they have wisely. We got there early to grab a bite to eat before we played. Well they had no kitchen. All they had was a couple of hotdogs and a couple of hamburgers. The bar/dinning area was 2 tables crammed into a small bar area. We had a couple of premade convince store sandwiches that were over priced. Once we started playing we got paired up with another nice couple. It felt awkward at first because we were new. It all worked out because the wife was pretty new to golf as well. The course is a nice quite layout. Pretty narrow fareways, but the wooded area around it is really nice and quite. It makes you kinda feel the way you should when you play golf. The grass was nice and not all tore up like some places, but it still could use a little work. It does seem like the effort is there. It has a couple of over the water tee offs that make it a challenge just enough for a starter or a pro. Id say out of all the places iv played. And that would be about 10 different courses in the last 6 months. It would be in my top 5.
Poorly maintained.
Falls Village is a nice layout that should be a good experience, however the lack of maintenance makes it a poor value. The bunkers are just dirt piles with puddles in them and the greens are terrible, chewed up with large bare spots. Until this gets fixed I won't go back.
course was washed out from rains
sand traps full of water, many fairway washed out, and greens had way to many ball marks, shame since layout/design in nice hardly every see another hole
Great Layout, Horrible Upkeep
This course has some serious potential but the superintendent and grounds crew really needs to close it down and put in some work. Greens are probably some of the worst in the area. Tee boxes are some of the worst in the area. Granted it had rained a few days prior, but every sand trap is completely washed out. The course has potential but as of right now it is a $15 course that charges $40+. I really hope they can put in some serious work as the layout is really fair but offers challenging shots.
Get ready for the generic response about how they hate you noticed the course decencies but maybe next time you will be less observant lol...
How expensive must sand be to do a decade without buying some and replenishing your bunkers? How hard could it be to just fill them in and place sod?
Odd thing to let such noticeable and often commented on items ruin your golf course.
