Fix the ridiculous bunkers
This course has one glaring issue. They have the worst conditioned bunkers I have ever seen on any course I have played in my 40 years of playing golf. The rest of the course is fine, a nice layout in excellent condition, nice greens. However, it is a heavily bunkered course, so the bunkers made of mud in which your ball plugs is a big enough problem that I won't return until it is fixed.
Great place to golf. Course management is key
It is a good course. Away from houses so all you see is nature. Course management is key. Not knowing the distances to obstacles or hazards can make your round very frustrating. There are some blind shots so be ware.
Great Deal/Conditions
Played 2 days after flooding rains and was surprised how playable the course was. Some water in a few of the traps but otherwise in good shape, even had 90 degree cart rule. Fairways in great condition as were most greens. Will definitely play again this spring!
Nice course bad bunkers. No range.
The green side bunkers had puddles of water 2 days after rain. The sand is non existent and the red clay can be seen in the bunkers. Fairways are ok and greens are generally ok. Overall the round was fun. Course is somewhat difficult but a lot of fun. Every level of golfer can enjoy golf here. Not a course for walkers! Heavily wooded and a pleasant course.
Good layout that needs some love
This is a course that is apparently run on a shoestring budget. When we arrived at 8:30 am on a saturday, the restaurant was dark and there was no one in sight. There were 1 or 2 people in the pro shop and that was it. I don't recall seeing a starter on the 1st tee. The course itself was in decent shape but there are about 4 greens that are very blotchy. The sandtraps on the front nine were ok, but the back nine they were all dirt. As expected, play was slow and there were no rangers to speak with. Sigh.
On the positive side, the layout is very good. Just the right amount of difficulty for most golfers. And the track is beautiful. This place needs a cash infusion and some decent staff around the place. Having no restaurant operational on a beautiful saturday is like throwing money away.
Summary: if you want to play a decent course for not alot of money, this is a good option. However be prepared for virtually zero amenities - no restaurant, no ranger, and no sand in many of the traps.
Awesome course conditions!!
I played this course today along with my brother-in-law. This was the third time we had played it in the last month. Compared to several different that we have played this year, this course is in the best shape - hands down...period! Everything is nearly 100% greened-up and looking great considering the time of year. The greens are especially rolling true, as well. On one of the holes, we spotted a member of the maintenance team, Kyle Pipkin, and we thanked him for the job he's done, specifically. He was so grateful, respectful, courteous, and humble and that made us feel good, too. I would recommend everyone hitting this course ahead of the really stifling hot months so that you can enjoy a nice round. We will be back again and again!
Improving Conditions
Played as a single, mid-week senior rate. Course conditions notably improved since fall. Greens are in much better shape, though a few (especially #4) are still spotty. Some work done to improve bunkers, though several hadn't been groomed in some time. It's a really nice track - just wish ownership had the resources to keep it up.
Nice layout
Nice layout, but greens are not in very good shape
Give me a call if you find my golf balls
Played the course twice last week. Will not play there again sandtraps are improved. Lost 3-4 very good golf balls in the traps that were full of water. Tried to find them with the rake but was not successful. I cannot believe they do not take the time to drain the water from the traps or better yet fill the traps with sod.
Fairways are in great shape. Greens are in good shape. Course is very challenging. Biggest complaint is having about a dozen mini lakes in the bunkers.
Either use some old balls or hit the ball on the green.
Close to RTP, play here if you have no tee time else where
Course condition is below average. Course maintenance is very poor. Play here if you cannot play anywhere else within 30 min in RTP area
Hit and Miss
When reading this review keep in mind that I paid $23 for 18 holes on a weekend so take it all with a grain of salt.
Pace of play was good, staff was competent.
Fairways were in good condition. The rough, was pretty good for the most part but there were hard packed spots with no grass (dead or alive).
the sand traps arent really sand. they are hard dirt. not good.
the greens were 50/50. Some were in good shape but others had very rough spots.
The course was very challenging because of the windy conditions.
Great value
Played march 4, great overseeded fairways and tee boxes. Loved the layout. Greens were a bit bumpy, but was told they almost lost them last summer.. greens also super fast.
Falls Village
The bar at the pro-shop only had snacks, there weren't any sandwiches or even a hotdog. It was a windy day, and the rains the night before had us cart path only on the front nine. They changed to 90 degrees on the back nine. The fairways have been overseeded with rye, so the course was actually beautiful. The greens had a few rough spots, but were generally good, with lots of break in every putt.
