The golf course is also known for the immaculate conditions of its greens and fairways, which provide excellent putting surfaces. Deer Run Country Club features strategically placed sand traps, numerous doglegs, and water comes into play on several holes. The golf course, while challenging, is appealing to casual golfers and beginners for the beautiful setting and enjoyable, relaxing game. Deer Run Country Club is a local favorite both for the interesting layout and affordable rates.

Course is in poor shape. Not up to usual standard.greens are bad tee boxes mostly sand.
Good layout; poor green conditions
I understand the lack of rain is killing the golf courses in the area but Deer Run has some sort of funky disease growing on some of the greens which made putting quite difficult. Otherwise, good course layout and good deal for weekend morning
Awful Greens
Half the greens had some unknown type of grass growing in patchy spots. Many of the greens had large areas of no grass. The fairways and bunkers were nice. The tee boxes were awful. Glad I only paid $16 and it wasn't a weekend round.. The course was not busy. One foursome in front of me that let me play through. Charged my wife $10.70 to ride.....ridiculous. Going to be a long time before or if I come back.
Excellent experience
We enjoyed our day at this excellent golf course. The greens were a little fast but the layout was challenging nd made for a fun day. (Personal preference) I would have liked a regular terrestrial driving range instead of hitting into water.
This course needs work and water
Yesterday only a few tee boxes had growing grass, more like sand patches. The greens have a weed condition that can dramatically alter putts and there were bare dirt patches all over the place. Course superintendent should visit Mayfair in Sanford to see what greens are supposed to look like. Most of staff is friendly and courteous. Not all.
Course is in very rough condition
I will not play this course again anytime soon. The greens and tee boxes are in very rough condition! The fairways are in on shape but the whole course is in desperate need of some TLC!
McD's Deer Run
Course parking area and proshop areas were very well laid out. Proshop was friendly and efficient. Putting green & aqua range were quite adjacent to proshop and 1 & 10 tee areas. Didn't use range but putting green was quite sloped, long and narrow due to location. Fairways and tee areas were quite good. The greens, however, were not good, with many damaged areas on multiple greens.
First time I played this course in a couple years
I couldn't believe the course was empty this morning which made for a two hour round.
The course itself is in real good condition except the greens. The greens are spotty and hard as a rock. I couldn't believe the number of wedge shots I took that bounced off the green or in a sand trap. I'll play the course again and on some greens and walk off after two putts.
Unforgiveable Pin Placement
Do not know how this course got 4/5 stars! Must have been older reviews.
Tight lie fairways, ok. Horrible, black dirt, sand traps. Water, water every where. Ok. But the greens? Mostly flat with patchy clumps of uneven grass. Some diseased areas as well. The greens were large so there was no excuse for pin placements near these uneven clumps. To putt through would slow or stop the ball before the cup. You could move ball off to one side if clump was not too large. Course layout is ok, but it feels and looks neglected. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
needs tlc
Country Club at Deer Run is a fun course with a wide variety of holes. Water comes into play on many holes so you have to think your way around the course. The greens are fun to putt with decent speed but like the rest of the course, they need work. With a little work, this could be a great course!
Great Course
First time playing this course as we fancied a change from our usual ones. Great setup very friendly and helpful staff. Course is in good condition some wear on the greens but nothing major. Very enjoyable afternoon. I would recommended the course and will be returning
The course was in good shape. The greens weren't as smooth as they could have been. There wasn't a delay in teeing off. The scheduling was great. I plan to play the course again.
Sad
The course condition was not so good. The condition that we had played last time was more better. Some places were patchy. The greens were not so bad.
Good Tract
Overall good course. Some greens and a few ladies tee boxes need some work, but layout and challenge is there. Reasonable weekday rates. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Great course! Well maintained!
Visually attractive! A challenge with sand bunkers
Very nice course
Have played several times, course is always in good shape, players are always friendly and accommodating to faster players, pace of play is always good. Pro Shop team are really friendly and always ready to help, you ask the Pro questions and he's always willing to help. It's actually a good course for people getting in to the sport and parents with kids playing. One of our favorite couses
