The Country Club at Deer Run

This course was in bad shape. T boxes had a lot of weeds. Greens had a lot of dead spots. Played fast because nobody else was playing.

Very good course for the price. Course difficulty above average and challenging par 5s and 3s. Bring your fairway wood game!

Putting green bad, tee boxes bad, fairways bad, 1 & 2nd fairway cuts bad, greens terrible, bunkers nearly full of water bad no drainage.Haven't played course in 10 years 'till now. It'll be another 10 years before I try it again. Even at $10 you would be paying too much for the grief that awaits you.

Stay away!

The other reviews posted recently are accurate. Filter star ratings by the last six months and four stars drops to three. It should be two or less. This course has been in better condition in the past. We are in a seasonal transition in FL for bermuda, but the fairways are very thin (dirt thin) and the greens were not in good shape. I played nine holes, left and went to another golf course. This place needs help.

The tee boxes in poor condition. The greens were in worse that late summer condition. Lots of bare patches. They have been better in the past.

Good luck on those greens.

When we played half of the greens were missing large portions of their surface. Not just burnt up, but completely cut out with a 1 to 2 inch lip.

Several greens looked as if someone had done doughnuts on them with a vehicle and again had big cut out sections in the shape of said doughnuts.

It warns you, but didn't think it would be that bad. Otherwise, it's what you usually expect from Deer Run. Lots of weeds and dirt in the fairways.

The greens were horrible even had a dream that was a temporary green which was horrible

Very very slow pace. ....greens were awful. .....beverage cart was running, only saw twice all day. ...

Would not recommend until course conditions improve.

I teed off early afternoon. Played the first few holes fairly quickly...but wound up behind two foursomes and two fivesomes. The last foursome are apparently regulars on Sunday afternoon and quite honestly didn't seem to care that they were holding up the course. They took 15 minutes looking for a lost ball on 7. I wound up skipping holes 7-9 and going back to them when I was done with 18. The course was in decent shape, but the greens were rough. Suggestion...the 2nd hole could be a great par four without the silly dog leg at the beginning. I hit 5 iron off the tee and 3 wood to the green. That's backwards. Same for the 5th hole, the 2nd par five. Surrender the dream and make it a long 4.

This course can be challenging from the tips, but there are a couple of shots that make it almost circus like. This could be a great local community course with a little maintenance, effort and a course ranger keeping players moving.

Reading the reviews and talking to people, I'd not heard anything good about Deer Run. However, while it has issues, it is okay for a last minute, get out of the house round. Course knowledge will easily save you 4-6 strokes. Teed off at 11:30 and played in a little under 4 hours.

The Pros - the layout is varied with doglegs both ways, the fairways are wide enough to be forgiving, depending what tees you play from, driver may not always be the right club off the tee, the staff was polite and helpful. At the right time of year, if the course were in really nice shape it would be picture pretty and there is a lot of wildlife, including gators.

The Neutral - There is a LOT of water, marsh, and trees that will come into play if you are on the wrong side of the fairway.

The Cons - there are a LOT of bare spots in the fairways and around the greens, bare dirt hardpan bare. There is also a lot of standing water and soft ground, even after the 10+ days we have had without any rain. After a rain this course would likely be a big marsh. The greens are pretty bad, patches of poa growing up, extremely bumpy as in the ball will jump numerous times and will deflect off-line as much as 10-20 degrees on any given putt. The #10 green has been vandalized- take an automatic two-putt and move on because there is absolutely no way to have even a fair chance of getting a putt close. There is little consistency in the speed of the greens; each one is different and all you can do is make your best guess. We only saw the cart girl once, on the first hole. then we never saw her again.

Conclusions - the conditions of the greens and lack of grass in critical areas was frustrating, but this course is better than I thought it was going to be and, because it is close, for 20-30 bucks, I'll likely play it more often.

Course in fair condition at best. Fairways are thin even with some overseed, bunkers need help (unkempt), some greens ok, others in poor condition. At $25 in season its a toss up on value for money.

Deer Run is a favorite course to fall back on and it rarely disappoints. The course was in great shape and the greens were very fast.

An interesting mix of holes, generally good fairways and greens but with some bare spots on fairways and a little green damage on some holes. Bunkers OK. Definitely worth playing, given the discounts available through GolfNow.

Green fees with cart were $36.50 us....it also included lunch with a beer!!!!!!

My buddy and I had played the course about a year ago. The weather was cold and windy. We had a great time and the course is fun to play. We had a lot of rain the day before so all of the bunkers were full of water.
All in all we like this course, thanks.
We will be going back for another round.

We played the course and the day was fine. The course how ever was under on a lot of holes were being a lot of repairs on the greens. The fairways were nice. Overall I would recommend the course to anyone who wants a to have a nice time on the course. Thank you very much on having us play that day.

This course makes you play smart golf, staff is friendly and food is excellent, enjoyed my outing!

Very slow day (busy), course needs some attention. Not much for grass on this one, you play a lot of shots from dirt. I would not pay full price on this one.
