Deer Run Country Club features strategically placed sand traps, numerous doglegs, and water comes into play on several holes. The golf course, while challenging, is appealing to casual golfers and beginners for the beautiful setting and enjoyable, relaxing game. Deer Run Country Club is a local favorite both for the interesting layout and affordable rates.

Standard Florida Course
Greens were rolling nice. Fairways a little beat up. Definitely worth playing esp for the price
Definitely not 4 stars
Played a round there because i saw its 4 star rating on Golf advisor. As someone who plays competitively a course is judged on its greens you can get away with a sub par (no pun) fairway but the greens should roll. Unfortunately there greens full of patches, dips uneveness, and ball markings. They were also a bit furry which made it difficult to judge speed. Halfway decent place to get some target practice and practice getting out of trouble, but 4 stars it is not. To put it in perspective Timicuan is 4 stars and they hold the U.S open qualifier there, soooooo take my review as you like. Hit them well. At best 3
A fun course to play
The course is well maintained, with nice putting surfaces. They run pretty true. I stopped at the club drop, where a young man greeted me, loaded up my clubs and brought the cart out to me in the parking lot. I don't know if this is common practice, but it sure was nice of him. I was also nicely greeted by the gentleman in the pro shop. I will continue to return.
Great course, great people!
Another fine round at DR yesterday. Course is in great shape and staff and cuisine at the restaurant was awesome as usual. Two 300 yard drives yesterday, 16 & 18, sure do love the wind at the back on those holes, birdied both. Thank you to the staff and see you Tuesday
Great value for money, greens and fairways in pretty good shape, bunkers not so good. Overall a good course with friendly staff.
Aging and showing it. But we enjoyed.
Unquestionably this facility has it's better days behind it. Deferred maintenance is evident, but not where it matters most, perhaps other than the sand traps. Tee boxes, while certainly not pristine had good grass cover and generally in good condition. Fairways had some tight lies but had good grass cover where it counted. Greens ran well, even though had not been recently cut. Electric cart in good condition. Staff could not be more accommodating and pleasant. All in all an enjoyable experience. Recommend without hesitation.
Nice Challenging Layout
The course condition was about 3 and 1/2 stars. The greens were fair, rolling fast. The rest of the course was in fair shape. Could use a little maintenance here and there, but for the money it was a good deal. I love the layout. Very challenging. Will come back for another round.
The worst
Horrible course.
In horrible shape
With horrible Marshall's
And rude employees.
Went there to golf a few days ago and the experience was probably the worst I've had in central Florida.
Very rushed all day by rude people on the course and the Marshall telling us we should finish 18 holes in 2 hours?!?!? Did not get to relax on Super Bowl Sunday and on top of it all the golf course was like I was playing in someone's backyard who hasn't been home in six months. I will never visit this golf course ever again and I hope you read this review and pass on it yourself.
Great value friendly staff
Played multiple rounds here recently. Overall course conditions were very good greens in pretty good shape for this time of year. Staff extremely accommodating and friendly. Recommend this course for its value and staff.
old course, still decent
I've seen this course in good shape and seen it in bad shape. Some of the holes are tight and you have to be careful of rogue shots into your fairway on a few key holes. Number 10 off the tee box would be so much nicer if they did a bit of trimming to the Palm trees, I understand the need to have them there to make your first shot difficult, however, overgrown or dead palm fronds on a signature hole so close to the club house, makes for a sloppy look rather than a challenging shot, especially since you are wedged between the 1st hole and 18th and already have to be aware of other players shots the entire hole. Also, the way the staff "keep tabs" on golfers is a bit over the top. We were tied up after 18 holes, and because a single was behind us, we chose to play number 1 for a quick playoff hole. This was not received well as the gentleman from the pro shop came running out to see what we were doing (conveniently in my backswing, no less), it was the end of the day, it wasn't like we were trying to steal some free golf. Also, when I played a week earlier, we had to wait 20 minutes for our 3rd player, and wanted to play the first two holes quickly while we waited. Most any course would have no problem at all with us doing that, considering there was nobody behind us. Not the case here. you get just what you pay for, and not a shot more. Not really surprised to see unkept bunkers or excessive divots left unfixed on the greens. Also, am not sure I have ever seen a cart person on the course, so stock up before you tee off or when you make the turn. I know with all the negative remarks one would assume I loathe this course, but that's not the case at all. I love this course, and think it has great potential, I just think the people running the show are bit too uptight for the course. I would expect that sort of "monitoring" on a 5 star course, especially if full, but not at Deer Run. Just lighten up a little, and am sure your guests would feel a bit more welcome. And maybe inform your groundskeepers to be mindful of golfers and not take the time to weed eat heavily while a group is trying to putt. If you gave the golfers a bit of consideration, I imagine the golfers would return the favor and the course would be in much better shape. Am sure I will play again in the next week or two, so would love to see a change in the usual routine I thoroughly described above...
Walkable
If this course would allow walking we would golf there more often. It is a short distance between holes.
That slows down the pace of play for other golfers, try Dubsdread, they allow it and a round takes about 4 1/2 hours
Ease up
Just took a little time to read some of the other reviews and it seems some of the golfers are expecting Pebble Beach for $25- $35. I think we all know the golf industry and public courses as a whole are not doing as well as they should be in turn limiting the amount of funds available for maintenance. So ease up, I play probably 3 times a week and am familiar with every course in the tri-county area, factoring in the staff, the course, condition and amenities, this by far in my opinion is the best course at the best value of all. The staff is awesome, polite, considerate and friendly, the course is always in above average condition and the greens are excellent considering some of the players don't have the courtesy of repairing their ball marks. When playing any course and when the other player are lining up their putts, I always take a second and repair one or three of the ball marks that were left. I think if we all did this it would make any course more enjoyable for all. Keep your head down, negative comments to yourself and hit em hard!
Easy Access Golf Course
Indeed if your lodging is on the North side of Orlando the location is closed to most amenities. On most holes it is best to remain on the front part of the green. Few water hazards come into play as you begin the round and you start the back nine. The greens were in very good condition. Layout also contributed to make the round very enjoyable.
Good course , range in rough shape .
The range was small and unkempt. The large bucket of balls was a small .45 balls . If you like traps guarding the greens , and lots of them , this will appeal to you .
bunkers
Overall, course in good condition - great value includes lunch. Only complain there's no sand in the bunkers, they are filled with dirt. Harder to get out of, muddy when wet.
That's rather surprising sir, I play there quite often and have always found the staff to be considerate and helpful not to mention most are very accomplished golfers. They would know it would be virtually impossible to finish an 18 hole round in two hours, especially at this time of year on a Sunday of all days. I find the course is actually in above average condition compared to others, although I do know the rough can be quite treacherous at times, I try to stay out of it and keep it in the fairways which are usually well kept and in good shape. One thing that could help the less experienced golfers especially this time of year is to try to play on the weekdays when it's not as crowded or later in the day on weekends, this allows them to take their time and not feel rushed by the lower handicappers. Hope this helps and enjoy the game, where ever you play!
