Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club

I love golfing in Sacramento and seeing new courses. Some hit and others don't in the way that you envision. Because Morgan Creek was inside of a gated community, I expected more of a country club experience. The course wasn't in the best of shape, but that could be due to the time of the year. Tee boxes were sub par and the greens were chewed up. My guess is that improvement on these small things would enhance the experience. I am glad that I played, but I would probably choose other golf courses over Morgan Creek at this time.

I generally enjoy playing the course. The course is challenging, but fair if you stay in position off the tee. The greens were unusually slow with few in need of immediate repairs. There was that group that was pacing the course that caused the slow play. About 3 groups backed up. I presume The on course player assistant mentioned to them that they behind. He did not actually say that he did, but he knew which it was when we spoke to him???

Greens are not taken care of, dead grass everywhere. Most water hazards empty

This course is probably in the worst shape of any course I have ever played. That is NOT hyperbole! EVERY trap was unplayable, they should all have been labeled ground under repair! Greens were semi acceptable. Fairways sucked, tee boxes sucked, the "in between places" sucked. If I owned the place or worked there, I'd be embarrassed! Bear in mind, I hate leaving bad reviews.

It’s so sad to see this course in such terrible condition. It was built with great intentions and then just totally neglected! It could be a great track but as is, u less we get another super rate through golf now, we wont go back. Greens are diseased, fairways are dried out, super spotty and weeds have overtaken grass. A good track gone bad!!!

The greens are spotty with patches and bare spots and some have holes in them, and the aprons are in very poor condition (with bare spots and sand). The fairways are not much better (had to bump the ball to find some grass on many occasions). The traps are horrible-many should be declared out of play.

Generally like the course layout. Most of the course is in very good condition, as mentioned some of the greens need repairs. They were also slow … The pace of play was good for the front nine, the back nine was very slow.

Invited a buddy to play here because I played it about 9 months ago and it wasn’t bad back then. Years ago this was a good course to go to for decent prices and pace of play. Good layout as well. This time around I was honestly embarrassed that I invited my friend to this course. It was no joke the worst I’ve seen out of dozens of courses played over the last 30 years. I’ve seen municipal 9 holes in better condition than this. The tee boxes were not mowed on some holes. The fairways were in terrible condition, and a lot of hard dirt/dead grass. The bunkers were hard compacted dirt with weeds growing out of them at best. Some had small ponds in the middle…. In the middle of August! There was tuffs of long weeds and crab grass around the edge of the greens on some holes. The greens were destroyed with divots, dead/ fungus all over making it impossible in some cases to get a decent read/ roll on putts. On hole 15 the putting green had 50% dead fungus grass with I kid you not gofer holes in several spots. The driving range is dirt and dead dry weeds. I won’t be back here. I’d recommend ANY course over this one. Do yourself a favor Morgan Creek and Sell to someone who cares about the game of golf. Save yourself any further embarrassment!

Pretty place with some interesting holes. However, the greens, fairways and tee boxes were in horrible shape. Do not even appear to be watered or kept up. Much better last time I played.

Greens are in poor shape with balding, weeds, and unfixed indentations all about. Long unclipped grass around some sand bunkers. Rough is weedy and bald.

I was really surprised at the condition of the greens and fairways. Greens were in really bad shape with deceased turf and then there were greens with 40-60 geese on and around the hole of the green with geese poop everywhere. I know most golf courses will use some mechanism to get the geese to move off the course. I figured for the price it would be in better shape. The water around course were also low and green with moss.

Saturday golf and the kitchen wasn’t operating so lunch was limited to a pre-made hot dog or a pre-made chicken wrap.

On a positive note the staff was all great.

The layout is nice on this coarse. But the upkeep of the greens isn’t very good.

I’ve played here for years, love the layout and course conditions are like the swing of a pendulum, one round in great shape the next really sketchy conditions. This was the latter, some fairways somewhat barren, others standing water to try to save the grass with the heat. The greens were shaggy with a lot of ball marks. Bunkers were hard packed sand with a greenish shade to the sand on a few.

I hope the next time it will be in better condition.

Absolutely atrocious conditions. Dirt throughout the fairways, may as well be mud bunkers and greens are dead with mud on them as well. Don’t waste your time.
