Desert Springs Resort boasts two championship courses designed by Ted Robinson, the Palms and the Valley. The golf courses are known for their beautiful setting, offering unrivaled views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the Coachella Valley. The Valley Course is considered the less challenging of the two, but both offer a stunning landscape covered with swaying palms and blue lagoons. The course features player-friendly fairways that beginners will enjoy, but there are also a fair amount of challenges. Like on the Palms Course, there is plenty of water. Between the two golf courses, more than 35 acres of water features come into play in the form of man-made lakes and streams. In addition to the two courses, Desert Springs also offers an 18-hole putting course, which offers all the same challenges as the other courses including bunkers, water hazards, and undulating fairways.

Not worth the money

For a high end resort our group expected much better course conditions. Tee boxes ok, fairways ok, greens horrible, bunkers ok. This was our 4th course in 4 days and did not come close to conditions at other courses with comparable prices. We also played here in April last year and had a similar experience. We will be removing this course from our annual rotation until the quality rises to the cost. We are rarely disappointed with any resort by Marriott, but this was not up to the Marriott standards.

The course is fun to play. The condition was great. My only criticism is the driving range closes at 2:00, making it impossible to hit shots after the round.

Perfect course to play in Palm Desert

This course is beautiful!!! It is more difficult than the Palms course. More sand traps & water hazards. I was disappointed with the sand traps. Lots of sand on the sides but none in the base.

JW Marriott Desert Springs Valley Course

Disappointing experience which started with a frost delay, no carts for too long, greens shaggy & not in good condition, slow pace of play resulting in us not finishing. Waste of an expensive round.

Mostly Good

Getting started was tough as carts were not available for 15 minutes which cut into warm up time. Grabbed a lousy but expensive sandwich and started on #10. The course was in average shape but traps were mostly pretty hard and needed more sand. The course is interesting with lots of beautiful holes.

Very poor considering other courses in the area

We had not played here in years and now we know why. The course design is strange with humps and bumps in the fairways that take away from the golf experience. The fairways were marginal at best with sparse grass conditions. Greens were hard and slow. Bunkers were the worst in the Palm Desert area that we have played. They are so compacted and need sand in all of them. Disgusted that they ask for $123 to play and the conditions are so poor.

Will never play this course again!

Everything but the greens

Enjoyed the Valley course as I usually do, it's more of a default course to play when I need to get out and get some course time. The tees and fairways were in very good condition. The greens were slow and not true...I had to make myself to force my putts to get to the hole. The staff was accommodating and the pace of play was just at four hours for a 11:15 start. I enjoy the Palm course too for the same reasons.

Cost and conditions

I have played here many years at this time of year . Cost to play went up and the front 9 conditions were the worst I have seen. Back 9 was much better and up to normal standards. Snack shop on Vally was closed so no food and no starter there. Makes no sense to have it closed. Cart girl quit at 3 pm or so.

Decent Course, but HORRIFIC SERVICE/ATTITUDE

Course was good. But I came here to review their staff/attitude. It was terrible. The guy in the proshop was ok at best. The starter was miserable. And the club

cleaning guy had about as bad an attitude as I have experienced.

Ive played hundreds of golf courses. The attitude here was at the bottom 5%
