Baytowne at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

The staff and everyone at the course was fantastic. But play was not great at all. First and foremost their greens were shag carpets that had all types snags and the ball would not roll. On top of the, the staff was literally cutting the roughs and fairways as we were playing. For the front nine, we waited about 7-10 minutes on each tee box. The group behind us waited with us. The overall conditions of the course was not great. I would play here again later in the year, to see if it could be better.

This course used to be well kept. Unfortunately, they seem to have let it go. The Tee boxes were unkept and long. The fairways were the same, and the greens your ball looked like popcorn on them and were EXTREMELY slow. In fact never played a course that the greens were in such bad condition and this slow.

This is not just a disgruntled golfer randomly complaining!!

It would be one thing if we had been told about the conditions of the greens somewhere throughout the booking process, however we were not so I hope this review helps others!

Our family vacations to Destin every year and my brother in law and I rotate the courses we play each year because there’s literally never been a course we’ve been disappointed with until now. The greens are completely UNPLAYABLE. It’s a literal plinko course. If your first putt is not within tap-in range a three putt is more likely than a two putt.

We booked a 2:30 PM tee time and after you take into consideration taxes and fees on GolfNow, we could have played Regatta Bay (one of the best courses in the area) for the same price if not a few bucks cheaper.

I truly hate being “that guy” but this is one of those times where I feel it necessary. We paid “off peak” pricing with the afternoon tee time, so it is what it is, but had we paid the $140+ they’re charging for “peak” times I would be DEMANDING a full refund.

The part I find the most offensive is that not a single person on property said anything. Not a bag person, not the club house attendant, not the starter, not anyone.

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!

The greens were not very good. Conditions were subpar. Was told by marshall to pick up pace and it was because the single paired with us by the course was extremely slow. Nothing we could do, but we took the hit.

Personally, I won’t play there again.

The starter allowed another group to go ahead of us; we booked the first two Tee times of the day (2 groups of 3). Although I would not consider those players were not slower than the average pace of play, they definitely played MUCH slower than our pace of play. We waited on them EVERY single hole.

The ranger came by and explained that he told them to pick up the pace or he would split them up and make them play with the women. Extremely RUDE and very offensive comment. When I tried to interject a comment; he said, “You will speak when I am done speaking”. I complained to the Pro Shop after the round. The gentleman taking my complaint smirked the entire time I was talking to him; and responded with “I will let management know”. Not even a simple “I am sorry” which would not cost him a dime!!!

BEAUTIFAL LAYOUT, FAIR PRICE, GOOD PRACTICE FACILITIES.

Play ever June for the last five years and the greens are always incredibly slow.

This is an excellent value convenient to our location. The course was in good shape.

I’ve been coming to Destin for over 40 years. Played Baytowne many times. It was in the worst condition I’ve ever seen. Definitely not worth the rate charged. In fairness a local told me that 9 holes of the course is to be closed to accommodate more condos/homes. I would guess the management would not be putting effort or resources into maintaining the course to good condition.

Greens are below the usual standard for this complex.

Greens are in poor condition. Spotty and bumpy. Holes haven’t been changed in days!!

Greens were no good. Very slow due to not cutting and being taken care of. Fairway fine, played well to the greens then who knew how they were going to react. Bumpy, slow and not fun to putt.

Greens were a little bumpy but not super noticeable until the sun came out. Spongy fairways. Some of the traps aren’t very fluffy. Respectable course if you’re trying to get a round in before heading to the beach without breaking the bank.

I always enjoyed playing here. Some of the greens needs TLC, but it's still fun to play here and work on your game. The Pro Shop Staff are friendly and professional, but best of all the starter named, Robert were very accommodating on golfers.... The bag boys were awesome, they were always working hard to please golfers.

The greens were very bumpy and had too much sand on them. There were too many range balls on hole number one that were left in the sand traps.
