Baytowne at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Nice Golf Course
I always enjoyed playing here. Some of the greens needs TLC, but it's still fun to play here and work on your game. The Pro Shop Staff are friendly and professional, but best of all the starter named, Robert were very accommodating on golfers.... The bag boys were awesome, they were always working hard to please golfers.
Did not meet expectations
The greens were very bumpy and had too much sand on them. There were too many range balls on hole number one that were left in the sand traps.
Course in Poor Shape
The course was in poor shape. The greens were in poor condition and this was shared in the GolfNow app. The lady at the desk shared that the greens were in poor shape when we arrived and to be aware. In my opinion, this should be disclosed prior to signing up to play.
Additionally, we were asked to speed up play on our foursome. We decided not to putt on a hole to do as requested and immediately ran into another group where we waited at the tee box. We finished in 3 hrs and 45 minutes overall for 18 holes with four people for perspective. My guess is that they overbooked. The greens turned two putts into three putts.
Last, the condos on the course gave way to pedestrians on the course and walking through to look at the ponds. Kids in golf carts were riding on the cart paths as well.
It is a public course and some things can be expected, but I would not return to this course.
Some of the worst greens ever
The greens were likely a 3 or 4 on the stimpmeter although supposedly aeration occurred a month ago. We knew we were in for a long day when the starter told us fivesomes were welcome. The fivesome in front of us all failed to hit the fairway and/or carry 150 yards off the first tee. When we finally got to the first green, the green possessed more sand on the surface than the hardpan bunkers. Maybe Baytowne is a great course to play if you have the yips, since you will not experience anything resembling putting.
We had to skip some holes to avoid the slowest of the slow on the course.
Excellent Round
We thoroughly enjoyed our round. The course was in great shape despite the fact that the greens were still recovering from aeration. The course offered a great value.
Greens are in horrible shape
Greens are infested and not in good condition. I would not play it unless that’s fixed. It’s rough and dry patches with tall grass
Horrible Greens - Good layout
I have never played on worst greens in my life. Putting on the fringe would've been easier than the actual green
Course conditions
As you know, many of the sand traps are under repair. Horrible.
Greens are horrible. No one to monitor slow play.
Nice golf course
I have been playing golf here for about 5 years. The greens at this time of the year is not in perfect condition, but it's playable. Some of the greens needs TLC, just like the greens on hole #10. There were some bald spots. Some of the greens were very slow, and some of the greens also needs a little bit more shaving. It's inconsistent greens... otherwise, it's a nice golf course to work on your game...
Nice Resort Course
Not overly difficult. Fairways and rough were in great condition. The greens were still recovering from the aeration and were slow and unpredictable. The bunkers were hot garbage.
One thing
With so many large sand traps you need more rakes. That will ensure people rake after their shot.
