Emerald Bay Golf Club

I made a tee time for a single a month prior to date of play. My wife and I travel a lot and she does not play so I am used to making single tee times and getting paired up or bumping my time a slot or two.

Sometimes you meet great and interesting people when paired up.

I never got the chance this time.

I arrived at the course to find out they had a 5some going out just before me. The guy at bag drop said they do that often. Then the cherry on top was when I was told they were out of carts and my tee time would be at least a half hour late.

The only good experience was that they refunded my green fee.

How do you run out of carts at a resort/tourist course at 12:30 on a Thursday?

I was looking forward to the round and was very disappointed.

The course is decent outside of the awful tee boxes which are mostly sand. Also the beverage cart girl was miserable, clearly didn’t want to be there.

This was the best course I’ve played at and was worth spending the amount. I typically am intimidated by playing at a course that’s this nice and this much, but loved playing it with the weather, pace and amenities that come with it. Would recommend to everyone and will be playing there again once I travel back to Destin again!!

This course was in poor shape, the greens had some type of disease and weed/grass issues. The fairways look average to below average. When reading their advertisement of being one of the best in Destin - not sure when this was done but played much better course in the area with similar pricing.

Played this course for the first time on Sunday morning. Beautiful day and great pace of play, but the tee boxes were a mess and the greens were way to slow/rough/shaggy. I expected the course to be in better shape in early May. Some really pretty holes in the course and a couple of really short Par 4’s.

The course has a nice layout but the greens need some improvement.

Pace of play was slow. T boxes were in bad shape almost like hitting out of the sand. Cart girl came around one time and there was no water on the course. Not worth the money, when there are so many other courses in the area to choose from.

Great course not too hard wide open. Great for high handicappers but good for good players as well. Really nice golf shop. Good carts good cart service friendly all round! Play the course!

Staff very friendly. Pace of play was good and condition of course including greens was amazing. Will definitely play again when back in the area.

We had a group of 8 looking to take over 2 tee times. The previous afternoon I found a couple of tee times and called to make sure they were still available. Had I booked with the course it would have been $99/ person but online it was $83, needless to say, I booked online. We showed up and were surprised to learn that because we’d booked online we were all being given a course hat. So not only did we save $16 on the course, we were gifted a $40 hat. The greens were true, the course was in great shape, and everyone had a good time.

The superintendent at this course must not care about his job. Several tee boxes with a couple patches of grass. Several greens with dead spots. Some fairways with dead spots. Some bunkers not maintained. On the other hand, the guys in the pro shop are awesome! I wanted to beat the weather and they let me on an hour and a half early!

Hard for me to give this a good rating when it’s voted to be the best if not one of the best in destin! Regetta bay looked a lot better than emerald bay!

Tough to choose between 'Good' and 'Excellent'. I'd save 'Excellent' for truly noteworthy courses and course conditions. Given this I'll go with 'Good Plus' for our recent round at Emerald Bay.

Pretty good experience once on the course. Showed up at 8:05 for 8:30 tee time. Drop our bags off and starters says our tee time is actually going to be 8:12 so that we can get in front of a large group. Walk into pro shop to check in. Again, they say the tee time is 8:12 not 8:30 and that I need to pay… paid online and luckily had email receipt confirmation. No warmup time. Straight to tee. Pretty good conditions other than some tee boxes. Zero drinking water on course.

As an average golfer this is one of my favorite courses in the Destin area; however, I was just a little disappointed in the overall conditions. The greens appeared to maybe have been recently verticut and not quite healed. The fairways were not bad, but I wish they were just a little longer so the ball would sit up a little higher. Still, I always enjoy the layout and everyone there is really nice. I recommend playing it - but a hot deal makes it easier to overlook some of the flaws. We will be back in the fall and will play it again.
