Great layout and very welcoming
First time playing at Northop. Course was a bit wet after a lot of rain but playable. Greens in good condition and a great course layout. Will definitely be back
Nice course just slow
The course looked pretty new and I’m sure will improve. We only managed to play 11 holes as the pace of play was so slow. It took us over three and a half hours for the 11. The front 9 layout is very good not ups and downs, enclosed holes in the main.
Great course, Sand on greens prepped slowed them massively
Excellent course really enjoyed every aspect except the greens unfortunately they had alot of sand on them due to winter prep for summer, which is just bad timing we was told by the shop of this.
It's a course 100% will be going back to in summer, it's very forgiving and some stunning holes some great lines you can take if you fancy it. A buggy would be recommended but you have to stick to the paths so there not a major advantage
Better than expected
I really enjoyed it to be fair. I wasn't expecting much after reading and hearing bad things but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the layout of the course and found it to be in decent condition. Bunkers were pretty much solid wet sand, but to be expected after recent weather. Didn't come across as the friendliest of clubs but for £13 I'm not complaining about that.
Fantastic Course
By far the best course I've played on since I started playing again this year, immaculate fairways and carpet like true greens, would highly recommend this course to any handicapper golfer
great day out
Played as part of a group of friends we play all over and this layout takes some beating , greens in great condition rolling true and smooth , a pleasure to play tricky to score if your off the fairway and definitely need to manage your way around the course if your in the rough a lot.
You will need to use every club in the bag around Northop , definitely not a drive wedge course !!!
be back again soon
So slow!
Pace of play was so slow ruined our round. Couple times there were 4 play groups on the same hole. People weren’t for letting others through to try and speed play up. Who do you blame? The Golfers for poor etiquette or maybe the club for allowing to many bookings not adequate tee times and cramming as many visitors in as possible.
Won’t be returning in a while.
My round at Northop Hall GC
I'd played the course many times before and found it in a better condition, this in comparison to yesterday. Myself and playing partners on occasions hit a stray drive into the 2nd cut only to have great difficulty in finding the ball in question, this was mainly down to cutting's being left un picked. The 2nd cut is short enough to get out of, but only if you managed to find your ball.
Getting there but focus needed
The course has been on a journey for the last few years. The facilities have moved on in the right direction after the move from the main building.
Most holes in my opinion offer good value for money. The greens are fine and the fairways well kept. What really let’s this course down are the Tee’s in a couple of areas. On the 4th it appears it’s accepted that the yellow tee area is a soil mound with a permanent ‘temporary’ tee in place. It’s been like this for a long time now. Also on the back nine a couple of Tee boxes look worse for wear and are not tendered so often.
It’s a real shame as it good course offering good challenges but it says a lot about the focus on standards that could make this a great course rather than average to good. Hopefully the progress will continue but not convinced it will. Feels like the club has plateaued for now. Such a shame.
