Diamond Hill Golf & Country Club

About
Diamond Hill Golf & Country Club in Dover, Florida stretches over rolling hills where there is no shortage of water. Dry greens are never a concern as water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course. The greens vary in speed from medium to fast and the fairways are lined with towering trees. In addition to the water, there are also numerous bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. The golf course has some challenging par 3s, especially if it is a windy day. With several holes playing over water and a few houses close to the golf course, well placed tee shots are essential to scoring well at Diamond Hill.

Greens and fairways were in good condition. Some tee boxes could use some work and it is difficult to locate balls in the ruff sometimes because dead cut grass or a type of hay can sometimes obscure your ball.
Rough Roughs
The roughs were very rough. Spent too much time looking for balls in the roughs. Noticeable lack of maintenance.
Mediocre day
The pro shop staff upon arrival was nice but gave no direction whatsoever. I didn’t know where to go after check in and had to scoop my own range balls out of the bucket behind the counter. The starter was very nice and helpful, however, trying to find the driving range was an adventure within itself. The range shouldn’t even be classified as a range. It was regular St. Augustine grass and as tall as the grass in your front yard. No structure and it was ridiculous. The course was okay, it could use some work but overall it was decent. The maintenance crew was ridiculous upon themselves. I had a gentleman mowing the fringe of the green while I was putting and drove next to me the entire time on the green. Not even being polite and turning off the blades and waiting. This happened 3 times in a 4 hole stretch. It was just rude. Between the pace of play, and the maintenance staff, I only played 9 holes and didn’t even finish the 18. 2 1/2 hours on the front. Not my best experience at a course and it was very disappointing.
No value
They are very over priced for the condition of the course. A couple of fairways are nothing but weeds and the greens are ok but slow. The only reason I played was it was convenient on ahrt notice.

This is a good track, with some elevation changes we don't usually see in this area. The signature hole is a Par 3 that drops 30 feet from tee to green over a pond. Great hole! I have played this course a number of times. It has a number if other good holes as well. The greens were not in as good a shape as they were just a few weeks ago. Today, some bare spots and a little bumpy.
7:07 am tee time, so we thought we had one of, if not the first tee time. We arrived only to find out that the Men's Group goes out before us on Saturday. They were very slow and as a twosome, we waited on every shot, on every hole. 4 plus hours to play. Other than the waiting, it was an overall good experience.
Decent course, would not pay more than 30 bucks to play
Pros: decent layout, usually wide open after 2 on weekends and weekdays. Couple of really fun holes that you won’t find around the Valrico area
Cons: greens are inconsistent, bunkers will have water in them if it rained the day before, no cart ladies to buy drinks from on the course.
They have let the service and conditions go...
Use to enjoy playing here. Now they over book the course and they are no longer keeping it in top condition. Fairways, tee boxes and greens are less than desirable. Show up for a 8:45am tee time and they are 15 minutes behind. Starter blames management for over booking. Only two people on course trying to support Operations. All with lame excuses. No marshall keeping pace of play. No cart service. Only one person in club house supporting F&B. She tried hard, but come on. They have let this place go at every touch point. Dirty carts, poor service, over booking, no F&B on course, course conditions worse than most public courses, no Managment oversight....just very lame excuses. I will pass on Diamonds Hills and move on to much better ran courses.
Greens Still the Number 1 ISSUE!!
For the first few holes I was happy with the greens and how true they were playing. Then by hole 5 they started to change in speed and overall feel. Then the back nine brought about the worst of all the greens. At least 5 greens were taken over by goose grass and it was extremely noticeable in color but also affected the roll of the ball causing it to bounce and slow down significantly. Adding on to the poor conditions of the green the fairways on half of the holes were unrecognizable due to the amount of bare spots and weeds. The rough surrounding the fairways are not maintained making it impossible to find your ball that you know was hit in play. This is attributed to the type of rough being Bahia Grass which is not part of a grass species normally part of a golf course. Also about 4-5 tee boxes were poorly maintained and bare dirt in some cases. Lastly the bunkers were completely unplayable. We haven’t had rain in about 2 full days and the course owners did nothing to clean out the water and restore the sand. Lastly the practice range is horrible. Terrible lies and a ground that’s so hard you are forced to pick your ball clean.
Diamond Hill
Awsome day, I started as single teamed up with another player hole number 10, had a wonderful day and time playing at this course , greens were pretty good, sgnature hole were awsome. I would reccomend Diamond Hill Golf course to anyone who loves to play in challenging golf courses.
Greens were inconsistent bumpy and spotty on many , slow on others . Two fairways on the back nine in really bad shape. Bahia is the result if the fairways are missed (spotty lies) . Course needs Greenskeeper help , there was a sign in the pro shop hopefully they will find somebody. It would not take muck to get the course back in good shape
Greens still recovering
Greens still bumpy from recent aeration and somewhat slow. Otherwise the course is in pretty good shape.
Bad Greens, Bad Starter
This should be one of the better courses in the area. The layout is unique with the elevation changes. Unfortunately, the course hasn’t been taken care of. The greens suck, big time. Some are all sand.
There’s also a men’s league that apparently takes precedent over any tee time. Doesn’t matter if it’s early or late. They let people just slide in with this association. We’ve had to wait multiple occasions because more people showed up than expected. One time our tee time got pushed 45 min.
Fix Your Greens!
Spend the money and fix the greens! 50% or better the greens are in disrepair. For what you are charging I would and should expect much more.

Thank you for your nice review and for playing our course!

We would like to hear more about your experience. Please feel to reach out to me at pga@diamondhillclubs.com. Thank you.
grass is dying
Front nine in good condition, back nine grass is dying.
11th green dead, 14th&16th fairways dead.

Thank you for your review. We have recently begun a pesticide treatment on our greens in combination with aerification which should help them flourish once we get into the rainy season of the summer. Thank you for supporting the club.
Rough shape
Course is not in good shape. Tee boxes are rough. Greens are in need of a lot of work. Fairways were ok. Pace of play was slow. I’ve played the corse when it is in good shape, but it’s gone downhill over the past two years.

Thank you for your review. We recently treated our greens, tee boxes, and fairways with a pesticide which is the reason for the discoloration. We are looking forward to the course conditions this summer once our current work is complete and the rainy season comes.
Thank you for your review. Our greens recently underwent aerification and along with some other treatments they will take a couple of weeks to get back to 100%. Please feel free to contact me at pga@diamondhillclubs.com and if you'd like to discuss things in more detail. I'd like to do what I can to make things up to you.
