Golfers standing on the Ranch’s first tee might feel, for a second, that they’re on a links course. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

The seventh green. This hole is typical of the par-4’s here: fairly long and definitely challenging. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

The ninth, par-5, 540. “Glacier,” as this hole is dubbed, plays straight downhill. And a bad drive may lead to a “meltdown.” Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

Sixteen, par-5, 618. Another dramatic downhiller named “Ski Hill,” which certainly suggests the thrill of playing it. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

The 18th: par-4, 438. A fitting closer, but also a hole that captures the beauty of New England golf at its finest. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

A Must play
This is a fantastic layout and a great day fee facility.
Conditions were "private course" or better. The layout has a combination feel of a links course on early and finishing holes and a Mountain course on the interior. Wide open fairways early followed by elevation changes and tree lined level fairways on the top of the rise. I turly think this is one of the very best layouts in Western Mass including Taconic and by far the best day fee course. This is a must play for any serious golfer and worth a trip as a destination course.
Excellent course but expensive
Beautiful location, big greens tough to read. From whites not long but from blues a good challenge. Quite a few blind drives which makes things more difficult than it needs to be.
Love it
I’ve played this course 3 or 4 times previous.First time for my wife. Never disappoints. Staff is super friendly, and the course was in great shape. If it was a little less expensive, I would definitely play there more often. That said, I’m sure the price keeps everything more manageable.
We were behind a group that was pretty slow, but we still managed a 4 hour round.
We will definitely be back.
Great place
I’m lucky I live close to the ranch in Springfield I’ve tried to play up here as much as I can as far as I’m concerned it’s one of the most beautiful pieces of real estate in our area if you have never played the ranch definitely make yourself a tee time you will not be disappointed
waited on ever tee box and every shot slow pace of play . The ranger did nothing to speed up the pace of play. Almost 5 hr round Spoke to the golf pro he did nothing to help us or compensate our group for the terrible experience
Great Course Setup
Course is in great condition, good choice of tee's depending on your skill level. Greens rolled very nice. Good day with family playing golf, having fun on the course.
Needs to improve for the rate
Great track with variety. Sand traps need improvement as the sand was thin and many pebbles. Greens were slow by Ranch standards and looked to have been aerated recently. Very good course but should address these two points for what they charge. I have played many times but this was first time this year.
The Ranch
This was my 2nd or 3rd time playing "The Ranch" . I had been prompting my Daughters Boy Friend, his Father & Brother who have never played and we all had an awesome time. The greens were extremely challenging and the signature holes #9 & #16 where the holes are very elevated and the views are incredible. To drive 1 1/2 hours to play golf was well worth it. I would definitely go back in the near future.
Overpriced
The Ranch is overpriced. It was not worth $100.. It is a good layout with elevation change, reachable par 5's, different style holes, and is not overly difficult. However, the greens were very slow and did not roll well at all. I also didn't see the beer cart until hole 8. The course was crowded and it was not worth it. I did not enjoy my experience.
Still the Best
The Ranch still rocks. I love this course. It’s in my top 15 all time.
Course - It’s in excellent shape. The fairways are trimmed, the rough is a minor penalty, the bunkers are in excellent shape, and the greens are very fair and are in excellent shape.
Beverage cart - I saw it 3 times. It was well stocked and the cart person was friendly.
Water- There was plenty of water on the course. Bring your bottle.
Practice area - The range was in very good shape and the practice green was the same speed as the course.
Clubhouse - Not as well stocked as I’ve seen in the past, but not bad.
Pace of play - There was a small tournament in front of me. They played in under 4 hours, so no complaints from me.
Value - If you’re a cheap golfer, don’t play here. If you want to play a great course for the value, play here. I live in Tucson and come to Western Mass to visit relatives. If it’s golf season, I bring my clubs. This is a great golf facility.
GO PLAY IT!
