Aguila Golf Course
About
The Aquila Golf Course facility offers two golf courses; one is a championship length course while the other is a par-3, nine-hole course. The championship course provides an excellent game of golf for an affordable price. There are scenic views of mountains and downtown Phoenix as well as a challenging layout featuring several water hazards and bunkers. Although the terrain is rather hilly, it is still relatively walkable. The course has an excellent range of holes that each have a unique character, the par 5's are especially notable. Native grasses and wildflowers are also present on Aquila's Championship course, further adding to its natural beauty.

Good summer value
I have been playing at least 1 time a week since mid-May and this course is in better shape than most for summer expectations. Fairways were not dead on any holes (couldn't say that about more than half the courses lately). Some of the greens seem to either becoming back from or they are starting to lose them to a fungus but they are still in pretty good shape for this time of year. All things considered really good value for the money, I would play here again. I think most the issues were with fellow golfers not raking bunkers, filling divots or repairing ball marks which unfortunately also comes with this time of year and the cheaper rounds.
Biggest complaint would be the lack of a cooler on the cart. I can't understand how any course in the greater Phoenix area would not have a cooler in the summer time. I lived in Vegas for years and never saw a course there with out a cooler, this is only the second course in town I have found without them.
Great Track!
Played here on my birthday! Awesome addition for Phoenix Club Card holders. Plays like Papago quality without the insane crowds you get there on the weekends!
Can’t expect perfect conditions in the Arizona summer, But the greenskeepers and staff do an amazing job to ensure you enjoy the experience...and I did!
Enjoy getting out of the city and try out this track a few miles south of Phoenix.
Thanks so much for the review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
cart girl and food service is back
very glad to see that Aguila finally has a cart girl back out on the course and serving food again in the club house. Unfortunately I have seen the course in better shape...seems like they might be losing their greens. Very bare and not as receptive as usual, still rolled true but bone dry. Fairways, tee boxes and much improved sand in the traps all looked good.
Course needs a ranger...
Teed off at 12 noon, finished at 5:30...Pace of play ridiculous...We were a twosome...Followed a foursome for 5 1/2 hours...Never saw a ranger...Not a good look!
nice municipal course
pace of play was average not fast but not too slow greens where in good condition and quite fast or at least seemed fast to me overall
Thanks so much for the review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
good place to play
easy to find, easy check in, water bucket for towels, ice and water for us, carts good, tees good fairways good , true desert course, bunkers have good sand, greens pretty fast , makes you work to score
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Aguila Golf Course.
Shhhh...don't tell anyone!
People either know about this course and love it OR they haven't played there yet! Great layout, quality greens, & practice areas make this a favorite desert course especially for a Phoenix municipal course!
Pace of play can get slow during winter months but it's that way everywhere, right? Restaurant is now back open and food is fantastic! Plenty of big screen TV's and complete remodel in dining room and patio.
The drive is a little out of the way, but soon will be remedied when the 202 loop is finished. (Aguila means eagle in Spanish, pronounced "ageeluh", accent middle syllable.) Enjoy!
Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
Hard as a rock
Course fairways in good condition. Greens are cut short and are hard as rocks. You need to hit in front of green and "hope" the ball does not roll off the back of the green. Arizona greens are not watered like they are in the Midwest requiring a different approach to hitting greens.
No water on the course so bring plenty of fluids unless you want to pay the high price charged by the course. Only one bathroom on the course (that I could find) and the restaurant was closed after nine requiring us to walk around to get to the bathrooms (slowed down play). Granted, I did not play well on this course but still had fun due mainly to the individuals I was playing with.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
Staff is friendly
Staff is friendly and helpful. Course is in great shape. Smooth fast greens make it interesting.

Fast greens
I loved the greens because they played true. The only thing I did not like was hitting off dry grass but then again I can only change my environment so I will need to work on my drives to end up in the green fairways next round. Overall I am pleased with my round! SHOOT EM’ STRAIGHT!

Best value in valley
I hate to even let others know about this gem. I play a lot of golf and have been in the valley for 20+ years. In the winter - when all the snow birds drive the rates to RIDICULOUS levels, this course is my GO TO. The layout and conditions are exceptional. This course will challenge the best of low handicappers. Fairways and greens are awesome - especially right now. I don’t go to golf courses for the ‘amenities’ and this course (city course) does not boast the best.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
what is with city courses not offering drinks and food
the course is in excellent shape, greens were fast and true and held approach shots. The bunkers are much improved. What is going on with city courses not having food or drinks? no snack shop or beverage cart on the course.
Aguila Golf Course
The best municipal course in the valley by far. Course is fun, wide enough to suit draws or fades and your occasional slices. The course is nothing to complain about. Wish the golf shop would advise players before booking a round they have no cart service or an on site grill shop. Its been awhile since last played this course but last time they still had amenities. I was disappointed that they still have not upgraded water coolers around the course. Once they resolve this issue I can truly say it's going to be once more the best value for around in town.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Aguila Golf Course thanks you!
Solid Course
Good course for beginners. Make sure you bring tons of water.

Best Phx City Course
Greens just punched, already running at 9-10. Aguila and Phx courses always in great shape even through the hot summer but expect fast greens. Fairways in fantastic shape and the bunker rebuild turned out amazing. Only complaint is they charge $15 per person for cart. Even tho I have the Phx card I will continue to book Hot Deals to avoid that ridiculous cost. They truly believe everyone charges that much. If you pay notice, when the tee times get cheaper through the day it’s because they slowly trim the cost of the cart down to $10, still too much IMO.

Love this course. Interesting layout that keeps your attention. However, I was very surprised to learn (while one the course) that there is limited drinking water on course, no cart person and a very limited amount to purchase in pro shop. on a summer day in Phoenix, this borders on dangerous for the golfer. was told later that course doesn't have restaurant license so no cart person but no reason they cant have big water jugs on the course or ice buckets on the cart if you bring your own. love this course but will have to think twice before playing again before October
Thank you for visiting us at Aguila Golf Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Very fair course and a great value!

Muni gem!
Always enjoy playing here. Bunkers are much better. No snack bar and beer selection is weak. Not a fan of how they handle operation hours but those are the only negatives.
Thank you for visiting us at Aguila Golf Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
