Okay course for the money
Overall, the course is fine . However, the greens are being aerated in the spring and some need more help
Interesting Course
Really enjoy playing at Ft Walton Beach Golf Club. Only problem I have is the fairways have always been bare when I’ve played there. Greens good.
Boring layout, mediocre conditions, indifferent staff
Starter was friendly and helpful, and few of the greens keeping staff were friendly — but the pro shop staff were not at all friendly, helpful or welcoming.
Course conditions were not very good. Many fairway shots were like playing off a sandy waste hazard. Greens were slow, and very rough. Lots of workers on the course today, but didn’t seem like much was being done that would improve the quality of play.
Layout itself is BORING — with just a few exceptions, just a collection of flat, straight holes with sand traps mid-way down the fairway. Trees lining the fairways rarely come into play — water on only a couple holes.
Add to all this the constant over-flights by fighter jets from the neighboring base (making any conversation almost impossible),....
Even on a beautiful sunny day, a decent score, and greens fees below many of the area courses, this round kind of seemed like a waste of money
Nice time/Good company/Not good golf
The course was in good condition for the time of year. The weather was nice, but a little cool. The selection for the weather conditions don't allow for enough description for you to really indicate how things were. In any case the weather and course conditions had nothing to do with my lack of focus and less than stellar play. I would play this course again.
Very slow pace today
I enjoyed playing both golf courses (Pines & Oaks). The staff was friendly , good food and both courses were not in terrible shape considering how little sun there’s been. Today’s pace of play was ridiculous. We had a 2pm tee time and we didn’t hit the first ball until 2:45. Most of the day we had to wait after every stroke. There was no chance of playing 18. That being said if it wasn’t going to rain again tomorrow I’d play again.
Old school layout
Nice old school layout that is really getable with the tree lined wide fairways. Some greens and tee boxes were not in great shape, but overall the course was better than average.
Nice enjoyable round
Great day for a round of golf.....course is a bit worn looking due to time of year but well maintained and playable for all levels..
The Pines course 1/25/19
It's course is just okay it's wide open not much trouble to get into greens were pretty slow but in fair condition, most of the tea boxes were pretty grassless but for the price in the area it's okay to play.
Great layout nice course
Great value nice course to play, course ias a lot of play but pace is good.
Great staff!
First time playing the pines course. Not as interesting as it’s sister course the oaks. Wide fairways make it user friendly but not all that interesting. That said the course was in great shape, with very good greens. For the money it is a great value. And the staff at this facility is the most friendly and welcoming I’ve experienced in a while.
golf in January wearing shorts is always good.
Nice course, use to fast greens coming from Pittsburgh, but it was hard to get the ball in the hole when greens were really fuzzy. But really enjoyed my round playing with a retired air-force gentleman and I mean a real good example of how a man shows respect and definitely earned and deserves it. Thank you for your 25 years of service and some good laughs smacking that little white ball around today.
