greens have issues
I enjoy the layout of the course - fits my game very well. Greens were slow and several greens had major issues especially around the edges - could be because we have had some much rain in the past couple of months. Fairways ok, bunkers ok.
This course has naturally beautiful settings
I really enjoy playing at this course because it is challenging and the nature of the course and has a very relaxing atmosphere . I have played both courses the Pines and the Oaks. The wildlife is so beautiful there as well.
A Well-run, Enjoyable and Forgiving Course
Wife and I are seniors and course was just right for us. Fairways and greens were in good condition; course was relatively wide and level and recovering from an errant shot was normally not overly difficult. Pace of play was also just right (marshals were on the course making sure golfers kept a reasonable pace of play but at the same time not trying to rush golfers). Overall a good experience despite the 20 mph wind that day)
First time out this year
The course was not in very good shape. The fairways were dry and had a lot of loose grass in bunches (looked like a mole had been running around the fairways), probably due to the recent hard rain over the weekend. We have been playing the Pines course for many years and this is the first spring it was not lush.
Great place to play golf.
It's always been a fun course to play even when it was only the Oaks. The only suggestion I have would be to add another 18 hole course across the highway to the North. Many times during the summer months it's hard to get a tee time. The course and pro shop is a major asset to the City of Fort Walton Beach.
FWB municipality course
As a public municipal course dealing with "members" that think they run this public course is a pain they allow groups of 6 and larger to tee off together who would not allow my twosome to play through and when I asked then at the next tee box if we could play through they told me they were members and I needed to wait because they get priority on the course
enjoyable
greens good fairways need time to grow.Value is good with Golf now and at reduced rate later in day.
Rack rate overpriced for conditions
Pines-greens in good shape
Course was in good shape for winter play. Greens were in great shape.....play was just painfully slow!
Rainy
Being there are no rain checks on Golf Now, I was forced to pay in the rain. I was the only one on the course. Golf Now is a good deal if you don't run into weather problems.
Looking Forward to Playing It Again
Greens are in Great condition for this time of year.
Open wide fairways
The layout is quite straight foreward. Wide landing areas off the tee. Fairways dormant. Greens slow.
Pace of play 4 to 4,5 hours.
Good practise facilities available to public with $2,00 range balls.
Small Edwin Watts golf store integrated into Club House.
Great municipal course!
We played the Pines course this year and plan to go back to play the Oaks course next year. The course layout was great and had a good mix of challenging and straight forward holes. Take your GPS because they do not have good yardage markings on the course. The 100, 150, and 200 are marked in the center of the fairway, but that was all. But overall, it was a good course and a great value.
beautiful greens
While this course is a fairly easy layout, it is in the best shape I can remember it being. The greens were near perfect. They have been a probllem when I've played there in the past.
Nice course and well maintained
Loved the course and it was easily played by my wife as well.
Really nice muni run course
Played with some locals while on vacation, so got the good tips on where to hit and greens. Course was in good shape for a course owned by the city. Great deal if you are a resident, $300 for membership and that includes your cart for the year. Had some nice looking holes and was very well maintained. Some of the greens were browning out on the edges, but balls rolled nice and held approach shots.
fun, open, many holes exactly same
Course is easy, very open, many holes are just straight ahead, course was in good shape
A few greens needed some attention.
The staff was excellent. Had answers to all our questions since it was our first time playing there. A few greens needed some attention on the outside perimeters. Overall wonderful day of golf.
Great value for the moeny!
Course (Pines) is in great shape right now. This course struggled with the greens for about a year. Great shape now. A good course for a mid-level handicapper.
Greens have recovered on the Pines course. Great course
There are two courses at the FWB Golf club (Pines and Oaks) I played the Pines course. This course had some problems with the greens for a while, but they have recovered and are in great shape. Pace of play was fast, other folks on the course were courteous and the round was very enjoyable. In spite of the frequent rains, mowing was taken care of and the course was in good shape from beginning to end. Other courses in the area still have standing water.
