East at Orangebrook Country Club
About
There are two 18-hole golf courses available at Orangebrook Country Club in Hollywood, the East and the West. Built in the 1930s, the East Course is the club's original layout. While its design may be more traditional, it is just as much of a challenge as the newer West Course. The East has fewer water hazards but there are large bunkers strategically placed throughout. There are some tricky holes included in the design but there are also many player-friendly features as well including wide-open fairways and generous landing areas. Players can get their practice in on the large, lighted driving range that has both distance markers and a practice bunker. Orangebrook C.C. offers not one but two player-friendly but challenging rounds, making it popular amongst locals for being one of the area's best values.

Average course
Generally the course was pretty average. Nothing to write home about.
It took two of us almost 4 hours to play 10 holes. No reason for that and no ranger on the course to keep the pace of play flowing. Golfers on the course in front of us were extremely rude the entire time which made it an easy choice for us to leave before our round was finished.
Decent conditions
Decent conditions, tee boxes ok, fairways ok, greens ok. Pace a tad slow . Decent valve. Would play again.
Nice course
I like to play and replay this course near by. Always nice to play with friends.
Great improvements
I've being playing this course for quite a few years, and at one point it was a joke about playing Orangebrook, comparing it to a cow pasture. I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements, the fairways are in very good condition, bunkers were a bit firm, but I'll give them a pass on that because of the recent rains. As usual greens are a bit on the slower side. Great job by management. Big negative not having a drinks cart, was informed that was only available on weekends
East is always bad
Had a really bad experience this morning.
I booked this round and checked in with absolutely NO NOTICE of half the course being closed. This is not the first time I've pre-paid for 18 at this place only to show up for 2 laps of 9.
The guy who checked me in was nice, but I only learned about the course closure when I got on the first tee. I turned around and went back to the pro shop to ask if there was a 9-hole rate, but after learning it was just a few bucks less after speaking to another guy, I decided to just go back out and forget about it. While I was on the tee for #11, having skipped the first hole, this second guy from the pro shop sped out on a cart and accosted me. yelling at me for not paying for 9-holes. "You, get out!" he said to me, treating me like a criminal. You give the starter your ticket and they don't give you a receipt. I don't appreciate being spoken to like a total scumbag when the staff is at fault.
I don't understand how you're supposed to keep people at your golf course when you treat them like [crap] and your grounds are always flooded. The East course is ALWAYS a mud pit and was still soaked even after a whole week of dry weather. My cart didn't even have sand or anything for me to do my part to maintain the turf.
I wasn't going to wait for ancient Canadiens on the 2nd loop of the back 9. You can't have 18-holes worth of people crammed into a 9-hole loop. It just doesn't work.
After my experience today, I won't even bother booking at Orangebrook anymore when there are so many other better nearby options for the same price.
LG
The course was in decent condition.
Staff was fantastic!
Very improved conditions
I've being playing this course for a number of years and I'm pleasantly surprised to see the improvement of the fairways, the greens still need some work, but, if you're working on your game, driver and irons, there's no better deal around south. I would highly recommend this course for beginners and even good players, just not great for putting and some bunkers need more sand. The staff are always super friendly and courteous. So tip generously
I should have played elsewhere
The front 9 on the 2 courses were closed so we were required to play the back on each course. The greens on the West course were just aerated and there was so much sand on 18 West, there were footprints in the sand on the green. Impossible to putt. Not a good day. And GolfPass offers no credit or promo code.
