Lucky day at Brookside 1
I finally benefitted from scheduling errors at Brookside 1. I booked as a single with TeeOFF and got a great deal after the 20% promo, paying only $24.80 with cart at 12:20pm. When arriving I was sent directly to the tee, only to find out that the other Brookside starter had accepted a 4some at 12:20, maybe a walk-up or in-house reservation? No idea. Either way, this meant I got to play by myself. Course was open in front of me and I enjoyed every minute of my 3.5 hour round.
Brookside is doing a good job of keeping a volunteer Marshall on the 1st tee, as there's always arguments about who's next on the tee. Keep that person there at least until a 1/2 hour until twi-light and everyone will continue to start their round without the emotional downfall of having to hit your first shot immediately asserting your tee position.
Now if they could stop overbooking and/or making sure they only have 4 players for time slot, life on the 1st tee would even be greater.
Great layout and condition.
Hadn't played there in awhile.
Nice day on the course
The course played really nice today and it was a great day.
As expected
Play here often. #2 is certainly focused on less by the course overall. Fairways burnt out in many places during recent heatwave. Greens overall still good but you can tell aeration is coming. Tee boxes seem to be becoming less even. Bunkers well manicured.
One complaint: They send a cart girl to #1 despite it making the turn at the clubhouse. Whereas #2 crosses road and the snack bar is closed.
#2 is a fun par 70
Course was in pretty good condition. Greens were rolling pretty fast. They were breaking pretty hard had a few 3 putts. Didn’t have my A game today but had a great time. I will be back. I like this course.
Easy Senior Golf
We were able to get out as a twosome and finish in just over three hours. Check in and start were efficient and friendly. Shout out to Mickey.
A fun stretch
Growing up in LA I have always seen this course but never played it... and what a great time! The staff is friendly and was able to accommodate adding an extra player with a call (less than 24hr) and were also able to get us in for a replay shortly after.
If you’re a big hitter play the Koiner course... it’s a challenging course if you’re not hitting greens but opens up for most tee shots.
There is a wash protecting the first hole, which makes for a comical short shot and the par 3 on 17 over water on the right and trees line the left are little novelty’s that I can remember...
Always a good place to play
This is a long but fair course. Hit it straight and you can score. Play from the tee line and it's all bad. The greens are true.
Food vendors are gouging. Beverage cart was awol and it was hot out there.
