Great value
Starter was extremely slow get there earlier than you planned to warm up. Pace of play was great. Conditions were adequate. Course location is beautiful. Definitely worth twilight fee.
Love Brookside
For my money still one of the best public courses in So Cal. The scenery and amenities when added to the golf make it enjoyable. The only thing is I wish they wouldn’t allow 5-somes as it slows down play some.
We're goin to the Rose Bowl
Loved the opportunity to play in this iconic location, in the shadow of the Rose Bowl. A little slow on a Saturday afternoon compared to our round on Course #2 on Thursday. No beverage cart today, though.
Have parked on this course many times in the past, but never had the opportunity to play.
All day
They seem too think fivesomes are the way to go.
With tee times being every seven minutes it sure jams up. I think I saw a sign on the window “4 hour pace” or something like that. You would have to stop on 14 .
All day affair
My two favorite things are college football and golf so I was looking forward to played a round in the shadow of the Rose Bowl. The parking/bag drop is less than ideal, but the shuttle from the parking lot was quick.
The round itself was anything but. The first tee was 3 groups deep at our assigned tee time. In talking with the starter who was a very nice guy he commented that it was a “light day”. I had to play course #1 for a tourney the next week, but he mentioned course #2 was empty. Why schedule so many rounds in such a short amount of time without pushing players to course 2?
The final straw for me playing here again without being in a tournament is the number of groups that are sent out with more than 4 players. The group in front of us was a group of 5. I saw several of them throughout the round. Saw one that had 6, which is also the number of hours it took for me to play 18 holes. If I had any prior course knowledge I would have bailed after 9 holes.
Hole 16&17 Closed
Course is in decent conditions, but it's been better. Holes 16 & 17 were closed for an event and hole 18 was shortened. Wish this was disclosed to me before booking. The starter didn't even mention this to me.
Get some golf in....
Course was fine as I knew it would be backed up and it was after the rain the day before. Great parking and the starter lady had great sense of humor......just wish play could be sped up somehow. It was a beautiful day but got really cold so we stopped after about 13 holes. Love the area and atmosphere....
disappointing 5 1/2 hour round
Have played the Nay course dozens of times & never had a day like this. Our group, all with index under 12 and knowing that the greens are sloped from back to front, putted off the green numerous times. Watching the group in front of us do the same thing led to our 5 1/2 hour round. Complicating matters was the firmness of the greens so there was no way to keep the ball under the hole. Will not be returning.
Hurry Up and Wait
Our tee time was supposed to be 9:08, we finally teed off at 9:30. I think they send groups out in the order that they check in, not based on the time booked. We tried to check in around 8:45, when there was no one on the tee, and were told that our name would be called when they were ready for us. When 9:00 rolled around we got back in line, after not being called, and finally got to check in after the 9:15 group checked in and were sent to the tee ahead of us. Moral of the story, assume you’re going to tee off much later than the time you booked and paid for.
good
The problem I am having is that golfnow trying to charge me for not showing up for are tèetime but we did and had a great time and pay for are golf.
Pace of play
I understand this course is quite poplar since its the only public par 70 course in Pasadena and of course #1. But on weekend, it was just ridiculous. It was a 6 hour round.
The greens were fast! The starter said around 10. I believe the greens were the only main defense on this course since its not long by any means. Yes, the trees are in play as well as the huge gutter.
Slow
Brookside lets fivesomes out which really slows down the pace of play. Get ready to spend all day out there.
Great value for the money
Course if good shape...California in a drought - does not help the fairways...The greens should be better maintained...it seems very few fix their divots at that course....
Great Price for the Play
Took a little over 4 hours for 18. Friendly staff. Course in good condition. Will be back!!!
NO CARTS!
There was no carts available, so we had to wait for hour to get the cart and we had to cancel.
Impossibly Slow
They dumped us after a tournament. 30 min late to tee off, and on pace for a 6+ hour round. Gave up after 12 holes, which was 5 hours after our tee time. Greens were cut nice and fast, but the pins were placed in impossible places and right on top of slopes. This added to the slow play. On one or two holes, it was comical, you couldn't stop the ball next to the hole unless you made it. What a joke. I complained to the manager, and all he said was sorry. Was extremely disappointed in the experience. I won't be coming back for a long time...
