Brookside Golf Club - C.W. Koiner Course

The course itself is decent, conditions weren't great but not awful and the layout is just okay. But I played with my father and it took 4 hours to play 9 holes so we left after 9. Just not worth the money at all.

Took 6 1/2 hours!! No Marshall no one to help speed up play, 2 groups of five in front of us. Nuff said!!!

Brookside has been known as one of the best Golf courses in the area. No 1 is a long course, over 6700 from the blues and it plays all of it. Course was in great shape. Greens were FAST, the fastest i have played in the LA area. They were a little bit bumpy, many players don't fix divots, bane of public courses. Greens are not severely sloped but due to the speed, there is break on every putt. Course is basically flat, most greens are slightly elevated. Water is in play for only a couple of holes, but the arroyo does run through the course and comes into play. Pace of play was good, round took just under4 hours. Driving range is off mats. practice Putting greens had just been aerated, so no preparation for the speed. i will go back.

Steadily declining over the last 5 years, staff surly and completly useless. Tee times on the starter sheet today were spaced at one minute intervals for course 2. Even when walking, staff refuses to take money when you show up, walk away from the window as you approach, and generally dont care if you play or not. Course takes reservations for pre 6 am, yet several times when we booked early times, no starter showed up, and when they do, they put groups out ahead of you starting on the 7 th hole. Classic, challenging muni layouts, now ruined by poor maintenance, and bad management. Having been a steadty customer for 20+ years, will never return. Do not waste your day by playing here.

Greens are being aerated, there wasn’t a mention of this before making a tee time for $56. I understand the need for it, but the course should let you know when it’s being done, or knock off a few bucks for the round. Course is in decent shape, tee boxes were a little uneven and everyone was nice. They should have added the arification to the tee time notes is my only real complaint. Hope they do so in the future.

The course was gorgeous. I played the shorter Nay course. My only issue was the aeration of the greens. Necessary but golf now should have let patrons know ahead of time. The starter but by then there isn't much you can do. If anything it made the day more challenging.

If I knew ahead of time the course was an easy 4 star.

The time is over 6 hour.

I had reservation on 1:00 P. M. I started playing at 1:50 P. M. due to they couldn’t afford a golf cart. Also, the staff did not apologize about late starting.

I had a 1:08 tee time. Got there 12:15.

Waited to be called until 1:45 and gave up and not played at all. Staff at the course was really nice and give me free round of golf next time.

But, no golf today.........

The pace of play of these Brookside courses absolutely kill them. I should have learned my lesson the last time I played here. I’m a Pasadena resident but I will continue to avoid these courses. You would think the management would wake up to this insidious issue after several years of complaint. If the pace was quicker, they could get more people through it the course and it would make for a far more enjoyable and viable experience for everybody. Shame on the management of these otherwise decent, but not great, courses.

Took 3:15 to play the front 9. They send out 5somes every 6minutes and wonder why the pace of play is over 6 hours. Crazy.

This is a popular course, because it is easy to find parking, the staff is friendly, the course is challenging without being difficult, the price is pretty reasonable, and is easy to get to.

The challenge is the pace of play. We were a foursome, on a Saturday, and our round was five hours and 35 minutes. We barely made it before the sun went down. There are a lot of players who mark very short putts, take too long to swing, take too long to measure out and walk their putts from every angle just like a pro on TV, and no one in their group calls them on it. Very few groups play quote ready golf “

The pace is slow, because it’s a popular place, filled with people of all kinds of skill levels, etiquette and awareness.

So, you pay your money and you take your chances.
