Cecil Field Golf Club
About
Fiddler's Green at Cecil Field Golf Club is located at the Cecil Commerce Center, formerly the Cecil Field Naval Air Station. The golf course was built in 1975 and has been managed by Capstone Golf since 2005.
Fiddler's Green is a regulation 18-hole course in a beautiful tree-lined setting with no development on its borders. The course offers a stern challenge, measuring 6,643 yards from the championship tees. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 125.
Towering pines shape the course as it weaves its way around the serene natural setting. Fiddler's Green's generous fairways leave challenging approach shots to some of the smallest putting greens in the area.

Needs a lot of work
First, the good: The greens were slow but rolled pretty well. The staff was friendly and the pace of play was fine.
Everything else is a bit of a mess. I never had a fairway lie that resembled a fairway lie on a good course. The tee boxes are an uneven, grass-lacking mess. The rough is similar to a reasonably kept backyard. The bunkers need a lot of sand.
All that being said, the layout is interesting enough and the price is right for the area -- but even at $20, it's not a good enough value that would bring me back. On the other hand, I shot 79 as a 13, so maybe I liked this place more than I thought.
Great value
Friendly staff, great value for the money spent. I just moved to the area from Boca Raton FL.
Where's the fairway?
Carts are very old and have definite issues, bumpy cart paths obviously don't help that.
Couldn't tell the difference between the fairway and the rough, it was all very unkempt.
Overall not a very enjoyable experience, it has the potential but needs some serious TLC.
Great practice track
I've played this course on and off since I've moved to jax in 2005. It went down for a while but they are working hard to get it back in shape. Last time I was there the fairways were airiated, and trees were cut. The course is in more than acceptable playing condition. The fairways are coming back and so are the tee boxes. I would recommend people to play here for sure. I'm usually golfing at the hamptons and omni resort courses in amelia island. But when I have a weekday off I play here. Fun, good price, and the course is more than acceptable, considering what some other courses charge for their condition
Fun Course
For the average player that just wants a nice change and a bit of a challenge this is a good course.
I have played it for years and if the fairways were in better shape and they had drinking water at the Tee boxes and maybe a porta potty for the Ladies this would improve the experience greatly.
But for the guys to just go have some fun this is the place to go and you get your monies worth.
Once upon a time
It could be nice. They need to spend some money and fix the tee boxes, fairways, put sand in the bunkers, greens, and install 150 yard poles on all holes. Other than that .... it's a golf course.
needs work
This is a starter course. The fairway was had to distinguish from the rough. It looked like only thing that had been mowed was the greens and that was still shaggy. The best thing was the nice guy at the front desk.
Good Course for the Money
The overall condition of the course was not bad. You can play two rounds for what you pay for one round anywhere else. Great course to just go have fun and not feel like you wasted your money if your just a average golfer like me. $13.00 for 18 holes, best bargain around.
Good course for beginners
The course is not well-maintained. However, it is still playable. Some of the the holes are really nice, but the greens on most of the holes can use some work. Overall, if you are a beginner and don't won't to spend much money, it is a good course to pplay.
Pretty much the same.
Stopped playing here a year or so back. You can find better courses for a little bit more money. The difference is noticeable, so I prefer to do that.
Fiddlers is struggling again
Let me say from the start that the business of running a public golf course has got to be challenging, from overhead to weather conditions to hateful customers there's probably no shortage of pains. However, Fiddler's Green is open to the public and as such should have some basic amenities, not the least of which is water coolers on the course. At one time they had them and they also cut the rough, maintained the greens and made an attempt to provide a decent tee box. Unfortunately the course is sliding back into its previous condition, which was extremely poor especially in the summer time. One positive thing is the course's fees are low and that gives beginners and seniors a place to play without costing a fortune.
Cecil
The greens are hard as a rock. You couldn't make a ball mark if you tried, which means you don't get any backspin. They need to mow the course as well. A lot of overgrown areas.
Not my cup of tea
course needed some tlc for sure. Cant tell much diff from fairways and rough.
all around horrible
Carts are horrible. Tee boxes are horrible. Fairways are horrible. Rough is horrible. Bunkers are horrible. Greens are horrible. And last of all no kind of dress code or golf respect around the whole course. For sure my last time ever playing there until major updates.
Needs to close and let fairways grow
The course itself has potential to be a really nice course, but the fairways are terrible. Its no reason your shot is in middle of fairway but yet its lying in sand and dirt. Golfnow should stop selling tee times for them until they fix the course.
Upgrades badly needed
The course was fair...but has lots of potential if someone invest money for upgrades. You are not able to get water unless you go to the club house , if you are female don't have bathroom use on the course you have to go back to the club house. the roads are really bumpy need to fix. If management put a little money for upgrades it could be a nice course.
Bad Course
This is one of the worst if not the worst golf course in Jacksonville. Golf prices and beer prices are too high. The course is little more than a cow pasture and the greens are non-existent. You would have better luck putting in the parking lot. Grill closes at 2pm, so bring your own food. The only positive is that this course is good for first timers, because thay can tear the course up more than it already is. Do you self a favor, spend the little extra and go to a real golf course.
Save your money
Terrible, you never know if your in the fairway or rough. Greens are terrible. Tee boxes are very bad. I will never play this course again.
