Jacksonville Beach Golf Club
About
The newly revamped Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, built in 1959, is one of the only public access courses on Jacksonville's Beaches. The golf course was originally designed by Sam Snead.
The changes at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club began with the rebuilding and modernizing of more than half the greens on the golf course, along with some new bunkers and bulkheads to add to the already beautiful look.
The 18-hole golf course measures 6,510 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.9, with a slope rating of 126.

Fix the greens, become a wonderful golf course
The course should get 5 stars...BUT...the greens are
horrendous and you can cry on how bad they are. The
staff is terrific...it's a shame about the greens!
Some very challenging water holes on the back nine.
The front nine is a typical muncipal course type nine. But the back nine is very challenging with water on every hole and a few penisular type green
Great Challenging
This course was fun and a great challange. Overall, the course is in good condition. The greens need some attention, but other than that, great course to play for your money.
Great experience
Friendly staff. Great Course! I enjoyed playing at this location.
Dissapointing
I have played this course on and off for 13 years and seen many attempts to improve it, unfortunately the controlling authority has failed to maintain the course to its full potential and their latest efforts have not been successful. Tee boxes and fairways are in decent shape but the greens are struggling and will need a lot of work to bring them back. Its a shame because this course if properly maintained could rival many of the best courses in Jacksonville. Not good value at current pricing levels.
Very much a Florida course with the water and palm trees. Very nice for a public course.
Enjoyed it tremendously and staff were superb. Didn't realize golfers could walk and play the course otherwise would have finished playing in less than 5 hours.
Fun course to play
Course suffered some green damage over the winter but is now coming back around condition wise. Still some work to be done but overall condition has improved considerably. Always fun to play the beach.
Challenging but after playing it 4 times now, look forward to playing it again!
Played in 2 hours 40 minutes. Wasn't rushed or held up, everyone moved at a good pace. Course was in good shape after having 3 inches of rain the previous night. Got a great deal on GolfNow.
Course has terrible greens
The greens on this course were in critically terrible condition. I seriously lost 4-5 strokes due to their condition. I will watch the course conditions and make sure they are repaired before playing the course again. Other than the greens condition I was satisfied with the course and my experience there.
Greens under repair, Beware!
Jax Beach is a nice facility with a decent layout. Plenty of room to spray tee shots without losing balls. Fairways were in decent shape, above average for Jax public courses but the greens were damaged as bad as I have seen. SO bad it could have been vandalism. They are under repair and should be back to normal in a few weeks. Normally this course is a greta deal at $25, but right now it would take a $15 deal to go back as it is a driving range with fancy targets.
GPS worked for most shots but was not the delux model so distances to fairway hazards were not always available. Driving range was above average with turf similar to the fairways.
Wait for repairs to take hold and this course is a great deal at $25..
Lots of water. Greens need work.
It is a busy course with starts on the front and back. There is plenty of water and sand. The greens are not in great shape. Par 5's can be reached in two. Enough hazards to keep it interesting.
Jax Beach Golf? Yes, it's worth playing.
Opposed to other reviews, Jax Beach Golf is in my opinion, worth playing. Especially when you find a hot deal for $19. True, several of the greens are currently under repair and being re-sodded. So if you happen to land on some "patch-work" - lift, clean, and place - and you will still have an enjoyable round. Though I did not land in one my entire round, the bunkers appeared to be good condition with decent sand (which is far superior to some of the courses I've played in the North Florida area). Staff is very friendly and quite eager to make your day a pleasant one. The only true annoyance was having far too many 'other' golfers retrieving 'water' balls and slowing the play down... I mean, for a mere $6 to $10, go to a store like WalMart and buy some reconditioned ones!!! Will I play Jax Beach again? Absolutely.
greens are shot
Tried one last time on a course I grew to love over the years but after spending money on a redo a few years ago they have not found out how to maintain the greens and they are shot. This decline is also shown by the complete lack of maintenance pride by the grass, or should I say weeds, conditions as you enter the course by the bag drop-off and around the pro shop. Too bad, this has been one of the best munis in the south but it appears to be on life support. If you can pay less than $20 for a practice round it might be acceptable, but barely.
Great Value
Looking at the courses in the area this course is definately a great value. I've had the pleasure of playing a few times and it's always in great shape. I live in Pittsburgh, but try and make it to Jacksonville about 4 times a year. I will always make this course one of my stops
You get what you pay for
The course was in pretty bad shape. They've lost portions of every green just about. You can't tell where the fairway ends and rough begins. Having said that, you can get a great value and it is a very good walking course.
lots of water and sand!
the tea boxes need repair, the greens on front were in bad condition the back nine not as bad over all greens better shape than Cimmeron off 207
jacksonville beach golf course
lot of the greens need some major work. Some of the sand traps are packed pretty tight.
The water on this course makes it a fun place to play.
It's spring so both the greens and the fairways need more time to grow. You can tell that they are trying to get everything in good shape. We had a good time playing there and will do it again.4/9/13
Greens need work!
I've played this course before, but I've never seen the greens in such poor shape. Fairways were decent...
