Jacksonville Beach Golf Club
About
The newly revamped Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, built in 1959, is one of the only public access courses on Jacksonville's Beaches. The golf course was originally designed by Sam Snead.
The changes at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club began with the rebuilding and modernizing of more than half the greens on the golf course, along with some new bunkers and bulkheads to add to the already beautiful look.
The 18-hole golf course measures 6,510 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.9, with a slope rating of 126.

Great course, but unusually slow play
Played here a few times, and everyone in my group enjoys playing here. However, we were only able to complete 9 holes in just over 3 hours due to the unusually slow pace of play. I think we waited at least 20 minutes at the tee box to tee off on hole #4 - there were 2 groups in front of us waiting when we got there - which was an indication that it was either going to be a 6hr round of 18 or cut it short. Staff was friendly enough to raincheck our back 9 - so that counted for something. Course was in very good shape. Would definitely recommend the course and play here again.
Good Layout
Friendly Staff. Greens are under maintenance and fairways were a little rough from winter.
Awful! I will never go back
The golf course was in terrible condition in all areas..tee boxes, fairways, and greens! Wish I knew this before arriving. Do not waste your money! I understood the the price point and fully expected conditions to equal to the price point, but this course was so bad, it should not even be open. Don't waste your money, as there are too many other couses in area to play. You have been warned, stay away! If you read this review and still go play, you will regret it!
The course layout is interesting, however there is work to be done here.
I've played this course a few times in the past, but this will more than likely be the last unless there is some work done.
Greens were really beat up, lots of sand and bumps.
Nice layout, pretty course just not in very good shape.
Course need a lot of work
This course could be top rated if it was in good shape. It gets a lot of play
A great course layout for walkers.
The course has a great layout with a few holes that present a challenge to the average golfer. Overall, the course condition was average, but several greens were less than adequate.
Greens need work
Course overall is not bad but many of the greens on the front nine were not in good shape. Best green on the front was the 9th hole. Hopefully the warmer will help them.
Alot of water.
Pace was slow, not much course mgt, greens in terrible shape, rough was about right, not to high. Water on 75% of the holes and in play.
a goat ranch
There was more weeds on every green then grass. It was like putting on a chinese checker board.
The greens keeper, (if they have one) could have at least put the pins in an area where there was less weeds.
Do Not Play
Terrible conditions. Greens were polluted with tuffs of uncut poa anna, had large bare spots, more grass needed, ugly. Course needed arrows to next tee and overall care. We really felt like we wanted our money back. DO NOT PLAY!
Bright spot, Jim (local 1 handicapper) was most helpful in suggested ball direction, wind affecting ball distance and such delightful aspects as relating about bald eagles who lived on the course.
Almost got in a fight
Jacksonville Beach is great layout when maintained and challenging with the winds. That being said, the greens were in horrible condition, extremely bumpy and poa-anna growing up in clumps everywhere. We had a group directly ahead of us throughout the round with nobody ahead of them for two holes and it still took 2 and half hours to complete the front nine. Finally a Marshal showed up at 13 to see what the issue was as there was three groups backed up behind us. He let the group ahead us know to speed up. They did, but while we were waiting to hit our approach shots three holes later, that same group looked back and asked why we were pushing them to which one of the singles in our group got upset with them and told them to just play. Pretty tense moment. The group ahead slowed down again (I think just to tick us off) and we finally finished at nearly five hours. Crazy round. Would recommend once they fix the greens.
Not Really Impressed
Cool location right near the beach. Course needs serious attention. Fairways are like hitting off weeds and most of the greens are dirt. Course lay out is challenging but awkward as the holes are right on top of each other. No particular hole stands out to me as challenging or really good looking. Staff is really nice though, particularly the bar and beverage cart attendants. I played for a good deal but would only play again for the same or better deal.
This course is always fun to play.
The greens need attention. I will return and hopefully the they will be maintained and in better condition.
Not a good value.
Although the clubhouse and staff were generally okay, the course is in very poor condition, The greens were a mix of grasses and extremely dried out and difficult to putt. The fairways were like playing off of concrete with a thin covering of felt. This course is in very poor shape and needs a ton of attention, but as a money mill it cranks people through. No ranger to keep things moving but cart girl was through often.
A good practice course
Many of the greens are in poor shape with lots of sand spots. The fairways were decent. but dry. It was difficult to find yardage markers and no distance markers to hazards. The carts used to have GPS but they removed them from the carts.
TEE BOXES ARE IN ROUGH SHAPE AS WELL AT THE CART PATHS. ATTENTION NEEDS TO BE GIVENT TO THE CONDITION OF THE FAIRWAYS ALSO.
IT HAD BEEN SEVERAL YEARS SINCE I HAD PLAYED JAX BEACH AND I REMEMBER IT BEING IN GOOD CONDITION. NOW IT APPEARS ROUGH AND IN NEED OF ATTENTION. OVERALL I WILL PROBABLY NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE.
The Greens were in really bad shape.
The greens were in really bad shape and need some work on them. This course use to be a really great course but it has really went down lately
Good course layout but not maintained
Course in fun to play and a lot of character in the hole designs and layout. However, the tees were completely covered in weeds and the greens were cut too high and also had weeds.
