Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

always an enjoyable course to play, fair yet challenging. Greens will make you work but roll true and good speed. Course in very nice shape, well maintained with the exception of a few fairway bunkers that needed a lot more attention.
Great layout, average condition, SLOW pace.
Could be a great golf course, but my guess is the owners spend the least amount of money possible. Nice undulating fairways with many elevation changes and very good visual lines off the tee, except 18 North. Condition was average. The bunkers haven't been touched in half a year, grass growing in them. Even with the Covid situation, should be better than this. It was Sat late morning/early afternoon and it was a 5 hour round! No Marshall. Cart girls were nice and saw them twice a side. If they put some money into this course, it could be great!
Will return when greens gets better and also to play the South course today I played North course due tournament on South course..
Lake Jovita, North Course
great course and worth the price, greens are fast and firm but will hold a high wedge.
Good Conditions
Used a golfnow plus reward so my 45$ hot deal was free.
Arrived early for my 12:06 tee time, pro shop guy(no mask on) told me the starter was gone for the day and i could head out after i hit my range balls. He also stated that there was no beverage service and no water on the course. I brought a cooler so that was fine. Started about 15mins early and never saw anyone in front of me, 18 holes in just about 2 hours.
Carts are nice, with gps and blue tooth speakers.
Greens are still a bit sandy, especially on the edges but still rolled smooth and are quite fast. Tees are very level with only a few bare spots but nothing to complain about. Fairways are great and offer lots of roll out. Bunkers are different from hole to hole, some have fine white sand, others yellow almost clay like. Jovita is always well maintained, but that comes with the price tag. Hot deals are the way to go if you can stand the heat in the afternoon. Very nice layout with great views and lots of elevation changes, and large greens.
Walking most of the course due to Cart Path only conditions.
We had to walk a lot of the course and feel some of the holes that were Cart Path only were ok to drive 90 degrees on. I noticed on those that you had areas staked off and if people just did not take there carts I those areas pave of play would have been a lot better.
Always Worth The Drive
The North course is not as dramatic as the South course but it always seems to be in much better shape. The fairways are excellent and the rough, fairways, tee boxes and greens all get my vote for tops in the area for the price. The carts are top of the line and the restaurant has a decent menu. The South course is not as nice and is more challenging, but both are worth the drive from the city.
Great shape
Easy course to play but if you are a big hitter it plays over 7200 yards. I played white tees and that was enough for me. The tee boxes were choppy but I assume that is temporary rest of course great shape
DO NOT PLAY HERE
The pace at this course is absolutely horrible. The pro shop does not care that on carts in groups of three people the total round took over 4.5 hours, well above what’s recommended from the USGA. The staff is also incredibly rude and told me not to come back since I was upset about waiting on every single shot. The course is ok. There are some incredibly unfair holes where you hit a perfect drive 300 yards in the middle of the fairway and it plugs and you have a muddy ball with a very sloped lie. Legit courses don’t have bowls in the center of the fairway or trees in the center for that matter. The center of fairways should be more flat as a reward for hitting it there, not sloped, wet, and muddy. As a 4 handicap player who plays regularly, I will never be coming back to this course again. Way over priced and certainly not worth it to wait on every single golf shot.
