Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

Golfer Reviews
Very nice course in good condition
Had a great day on the course. Fairways, greens, and bunkers were in good condition. The rough was like cabbage.... we felt a bit of pressure from a few twosomes behind us and once they played through had no problems.
Nice facility
The greens were really good. Rolled fast. Fairway grass a little short due to the time of season. Very nice layout. Generous fairways, very challenging greens, but fair. Should be on anyones list to play. A little pricey, though.
Excellent Facility
Spent 8 nights in a villa and played 18 holes six times. The courses (North and South) are excellent. The staff (especially the event coordinator, Sharon) were also excellent. This is our second time to spend a winter vacation at Lake Jovita and recommend it highly.
Great Course
Lake Jovita has two excellent courses, this time I played the North Course found it to be in great shape especially the greens. The pace of play was good we played as a twosome behind a threesome and we did not wait at all.
My only issue with lake Jovita is/are the members that decide to play at the last minute and show up expecting to go out immediately and have little respect for whoever is next on the T box.
Best course in Tampa area
I have been wanting to play the courses at Lake Jovita for some time now, and for an inexplicable reason hadn't done so. When I finally made the trip up to the area to play it, I was shocked at how great the course was. -*
I have played quite a few of the public courses around Tampa, and do not hesitate to say this is the best, and unquestionably the best residential course in the area. The course does not play overly difficult off the tee, ample corridors allow you to swing away without fear of taking out window or pool screen. However there are enough traps and hazards to make you think about where to go with the tee shot, and make you consider putting the big stick back in the bag. The second shot is always adventurous, with great use of the natural elevation as well as excellent bunkering to give you great risk reward shots into the pin. The greens were sneaky slick, and featured tough to read undulations, without ever feeling unfair. The routing never got boring, and took you up and down and around an excellent piece of property.
The clubhouse was very nice, if I did have one complaint it was no quick and easy lunch items to grab before heading out for your round. It was about a 15 minutes wait for a simple hot dog, but the hot dog was excellent when it arrived.
I will definitely be back to play the North course again, as well as give the South Course a go
Understaffed!
Was surprised to see that dis not have enough staff for beverage carts on a Sunday morning of high season. Untrained stafd that finally showed up did not even know where they should stop to serve (not in a green) and was out of half the products we ordered. The course does not have waste baskets except in a few holes and nowhere to at least wash the golf balls. A pity in such a beautiful course
Always an enjoyable round
Although a cold miserable day, the course was in great shape and the greens were rolling quickly and consistently.
Lake Jovita North
Great course. Conditions good, fairways a little sparse but good, bunkers full of sand, greens very fast and difficult to read. Very nice layout, wide fairways and big greens. Definate play if you get the chance!
One of the best
Always I great condition with FAST perfect greens!
Fantastic
I had family in town for Thanksgiving and was tasked with locating a course hat was inexpensive, close by and a cross between the typical flat Florida course and north Georgia course. The north course had it all. The greens were especially good. We didn't see a blade of weed grass or grass that didn't belong. FANTASTIC. Also, we were impressed with the fact that no houses came into play as on most courses. Challenging but not unplayable nor was it too intimidating. Plain and simple, it was a FANTASTIC golf experience!
Golf Now Rewards treat
Thank you Golf Now Rewards. Treated my Friday gang to a comp round at LJ. We finally didn't have to drive by as our Dade City trips are to SSS Golf Ranch north of town (place is a hoot). Booked South course but starter switched us to the North for better pace of play. Thank you starter. Course was in excellent shape. Challenging, fast greens 1-18. Many bunkers but avoidable with even modest good shot. Didn't lose a single ball. Scenic treat. A must play and look forward to play again. Pro shop very friendly as was the starter. Four members in four personal golf carts followed us. Not so friendly but played in just under four hours. Sorry to inconvenience you guys but I will do it again in a heartbeat.
Too expensive
Staff and facility is frienly, but the course is not challenging or scenic and only in a decent condition.
Why is there no Ranger for the course ?
Apparently there wasn't any urgency for people to hurry up and get out of the heat. Took over 5 hours to play. Thats wih carts which is ludacris. Either people need to let others play through or stay on the driving range.
Great Course for the Money
Played here with a large group and found the course to in exceptional condition. Greens were very fast, fairways were in great shape. Overall, the course was fantastic from tee to green. We played on a Monday morning, and the pin placements were a little ridiculous. Many pins tucked in tight with hazards, never much room to work with.
Great course!
The course is really good, good enough for me play on my birthday. I've played many courses its just something about this one. Greens are fabulious alone with fast!
overated course
very overated course very very slow play coruse was in ok shape
Great course
Loved the course great condition. Nice to play in the hills !!
Gem in Pasco County Florida
Fun, that is the bet way to describe this course. Nice length without being overwhelming. Some holes with really wide fairways, and some holes that your tee shot has to be spot on or no chance at the green. Fairways in great shape, rough not to tall and impossible, but harder to play out of then the fairways. The greens had been punched recently and will be much better in the future, a little bumpy now. If you get the chance play this track, or the South course. You won't be disappointed.
