Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

Top of the World, Ma!
The views from this elevated location will make you gasp. Rolling hills drop away in every direction. More like upstate NY or Chicago. Immaculately maintained. Lightning fast greens, perfectly smooth. Fairways are a joy. Staff was uberfriendly, very nice. Tampa's area best.
Oneo of the nicest and challenging courses around
This is a nice course. Tee boxes are not in good shape but fairway to greens are. Especially the greens, which I consider to be true greens. They run like greens are supposed to ( a bit fast).
Great Track!
Best I've played in this area...awesome greens and fast!
great day to play a course for the first time
I played this course for the first time and I really enjoy the challenge that was before me and played pretty good thank you golf now
Beautiful, best courses in Tampa Bay
A drive from Tampa, but worth it. Beautiful course!
SHOULD BE 4.5!! PLAY THIS COURSE
From the start the people in the Pro Shop were super friendly and quick. I booked a Hot Deal and they had my Receipt waiting for me when i walked in so it took no time at all to get to the range area where we got to hit some balls. the elevation changes at the range give you a good idea what you're in store for on the course. The starter was just as nice, and funny!! they're wasn't many people in front of us so instead of pairing us with another two-some we chipped and putt a little longer to give them some space. It worked out just fine until about the 7th hole and we got slowed down by a foursome that must have been taking their time. Luckily they gave up by the 9th and the rest was pretty smooth. The course was in GREAT shape. green were rolling fast and tough, I've never seen so many balls lip in and out of the hole between me and the kid i was playing with. Definitely playing here again, I hear the South Course is even better...
Not bad, but by far not as good as shown in the reviews…
Played it for the first time and took a drive of 65 miles from Orlando. Was very much looking forward as some reviews here said how fantastic it should be.
Well, it is a good golf course, not very challenging with a regular layout. But it is not worth the drive from Orlando at all. There are many comparable courses in Orlando area and partly for less money (even though we had a hot deal…). Fairways (pretty wet some places) are mostly wide. Water or other obstructions are actually not in play, even if played from the tips. No ball cleaner – nowhere – with this wet conditions (!) – no chance to clean the ball properly. Some bunkers did not have correct sand in it. Greens were just OK, not too fast. Practice area was from mats only… The best thing was the pace of play, less than 4 hours. Staff was not seen much, even not at the bag drop – we had to carry our bags to the clubhouse on our own.
Overall – a good course, well playable, but nothing as wonderful as it seems, if reading some of the reviews here.
Visually beautiful. good challenge. High class facility
i drove 80 miles from Orlando to play this course and it was well worth the trip I played the north course. The course was beautifully maintained and was a good challenge with some nice elevation changes. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The clubhouse is large and well appointed. I had a nice meal in the bar after my round. I would absolutely play here again and highly recommend this course!
Getting Close to Pristine Again
Played on Sunday 9/22. $40.00 Pace of play was great. Course is good condition considering the deluge of rain the past 3-4 months. North Course greens are a week or two from being perfect. South Course greens about 2 to 3 weeks from perfect. The greens are nice now but when I mean perfect, I mean running 12+ on the stimp, firm and super smooth. If we get a break from all the rain, the courses should dry out and be fantastic. They're both in good condition but a little wet considering. The pro who was working the counter on Sunday is the nicest guy ever, super friendly. I've dealt with another pro here before who was not so friendly, just seemed like he had better things to do. A little thing like that makes all the difference. I will be back again.
Very good course with great staff!
Challenging layout without being too hard. Greens very fast and takes a while to get tennis speed. Staff especially on check-in and at the club house.Highly recommended.
Very welcoming atmosphere from the staff.
Due to heavy summer rains, most of the bunkers were not too playable, but the course overall is in pretty good shape. The greens were a little bumpy, but very fast with a lot of contour. For late morning on a Sunday the place was pretty wide open. I played with another single and we played in about 3:45. Very enjoyable round of golf.
Head Golf Pro not very accommodating
Course was in great shape. Starter and cart girls super friendly. Everyone except head golf pro very accommodating. Changed our mind about membership we were considering.
Beuatiful course; great layout, wonderful views
Played the North course as a single. Even though it was busy and I played behind a foursome, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Greens were quick, with subtle breaks that could drive you to frustration, if you let them. A couple tee boxes showed a bit of excessive wear, the fairways were quite good, bunkers were well maintained, and the rough was consistent throughout. I found the course only moderately difficult. Great value for the money. I'll be back soon to try the South.
Worth the drive
Jovita is one of my favorite courses. The greens are fast and true. The elevation changes pose a bit of a challenge but make for a beautiful setting. I recommend this course to all my golfing friends.
Great place to play...
Lake Jovita is a beautiful golf course, when we played the staff was upset at the condition of the course because of constant heavy rain. It was still in as good of condition as the majority of the local courses who had no excuses. Elevation changes and fast greens make this a fun place to play. While the course is tough I was able to shoot a respectable score and walked away very happy with the course. Highly recommended if your in the Tampa Bay area.
Great layout and very challenging.
Very good layout and very good challenge. Condition was good even though greens have been plugged recently. For sure a must play if you are in the area. Beautiful views throughout the course.
lake jovita
Great golf course,Fairways is in perfect condition, greens were finishing been aired but they are going to be great.
Great course, when ever someone says, where is the best course around Lakeland? In always recommend Lake Jovita
This is the best maintained course and well worth the the drive from Lakeland. I tell friends, if you want to play a course like the pro's play every week go play Lake Javita.
Awesome course with great aesthetic value,
Scenic well maintained course that has a variety of layouts and challenges hole to hole! Fun to play with many options depending on which tee you play from!
Well maintained but not pristine & has great featurss
11:12 tee time. Beautifully laid out course. Well maintained but not pristine, compared to Highlands Ridge North course or Orange Lakes Reserve course. Greens are huge, rolling true & fast. Fairways fairly well carpeted. Roughs aren't that high, easy to spot balls in but unlike the pristine courses, other grasses can be visulaized. Tee boxes are shabby to bare. All in all a nice course. 1st hole is tough, tree lined. Tee shot needs to get to 150 on right side then 2nd shot to green is easier. 2nd toughest 1st hole in Florida. Diamoindback GC #1 is just as tough or tougher. This course is comparable to Redtail, Victoria Hills, Plantation Palms, Club Renaissance & Harbor Hills. Carts are battery powered w/ windshields & rain cover for bags in back. Pro Shop staff super friendly & helpful. Will go back to play this course again for lower price than they usually ask.
