Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

Golfer Reviews
Very good course with great staff!
Challenging layout without being too hard. Greens very fast and takes a while to get tennis speed. Staff especially on check-in and at the club house.Highly recommended.
Very welcoming atmosphere from the staff.
Due to heavy summer rains, most of the bunkers were not too playable, but the course overall is in pretty good shape. The greens were a little bumpy, but very fast with a lot of contour. For late morning on a Sunday the place was pretty wide open. I played with another single and we played in about 3:45. Very enjoyable round of golf.
Head Golf Pro not very accommodating
Course was in great shape. Starter and cart girls super friendly. Everyone except head golf pro very accommodating. Changed our mind about membership we were considering.
Beuatiful course; great layout, wonderful views
Played the North course as a single. Even though it was busy and I played behind a foursome, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Greens were quick, with subtle breaks that could drive you to frustration, if you let them. A couple tee boxes showed a bit of excessive wear, the fairways were quite good, bunkers were well maintained, and the rough was consistent throughout. I found the course only moderately difficult. Great value for the money. I'll be back soon to try the South.
Worth the drive
Jovita is one of my favorite courses. The greens are fast and true. The elevation changes pose a bit of a challenge but make for a beautiful setting. I recommend this course to all my golfing friends.
Great place to play...
Lake Jovita is a beautiful golf course, when we played the staff was upset at the condition of the course because of constant heavy rain. It was still in as good of condition as the majority of the local courses who had no excuses. Elevation changes and fast greens make this a fun place to play. While the course is tough I was able to shoot a respectable score and walked away very happy with the course. Highly recommended if your in the Tampa Bay area.
Great layout and very challenging.
Very good layout and very good challenge. Condition was good even though greens have been plugged recently. For sure a must play if you are in the area. Beautiful views throughout the course.
lake jovita
Great golf course,Fairways is in perfect condition, greens were finishing been aired but they are going to be great.
Great course, when ever someone says, where is the best course around Lakeland? In always recommend Lake Jovita
This is the best maintained course and well worth the the drive from Lakeland. I tell friends, if you want to play a course like the pro's play every week go play Lake Javita.
Awesome course with great aesthetic value,
Scenic well maintained course that has a variety of layouts and challenges hole to hole! Fun to play with many options depending on which tee you play from!
Well maintained but not pristine & has great featurss
11:12 tee time. Beautifully laid out course. Well maintained but not pristine, compared to Highlands Ridge North course or Orange Lakes Reserve course. Greens are huge, rolling true & fast. Fairways fairly well carpeted. Roughs aren't that high, easy to spot balls in but unlike the pristine courses, other grasses can be visulaized. Tee boxes are shabby to bare. All in all a nice course. 1st hole is tough, tree lined. Tee shot needs to get to 150 on right side then 2nd shot to green is easier. 2nd toughest 1st hole in Florida. Diamoindback GC #1 is just as tough or tougher. This course is comparable to Redtail, Victoria Hills, Plantation Palms, Club Renaissance & Harbor Hills. Carts are battery powered w/ windshields & rain cover for bags in back. Pro Shop staff super friendly & helpful. Will go back to play this course again for lower price than they usually ask.
Lake Jovita is got to be one of the top 20 courses in the state of Florida.
The North course has a great layout, and the hills around the area remind you of playing a northern course. The South course really forces you to play good golf.
The course is layed out perfect.
Great experience, pass of play was steady. Didn't have to wait at all during the round. A course that I would enjoy to play again and again. Its a wonderful track.
I wanted to play the south right away after our round. What a great course.
This is a great layout. I only played the north. It's very long so make sure to add distance to your shots. My father played the greens and he normally plays the whites I play the blues. The greens are plenty for anyone over a 18 handicap. Great course we will be back.
good test of golf but forgiving
consistent but quick greens...broad tee areas...good elevation changes and views for florida...becareful in rainy season, poor trap drainage
Condition isnt what it should be.
This is one of my favorite courses and I was pretty disappointed with the conditions. The greens were punched which I understand is needed this time of year but many of them had large dead patches (fungus?) Also they were exceedingly bumpy and puts wouldn't hold a line. The rough was shaggy and had weeds growing up uncut. Overall the course had appearance of maintenance short cutting. I heard they have new owners so perhaps they don't have the same standards as previous owners. The staff was great, friendly. attentive and helpful as usual.
great course mediocre conditions
Number of places in rough and fairways totally bare - large places. A number of the greens had major bare spots - bug infestation or something. Few places where hard to tell where fairway ended and rough began due to conditions.
Great layout though, greens rolling true provided you didn't have to go over bare- rough spots.
Great course but green were terrible May 26 2013
Greens were being irrigated which was terrible for putting. The course is awesome otherwise. When putting make sure you hit it hard to have a show.
Atypical Course
Elevation changes made this stand out in a typical flat Florida. The well maintained greens and fairway made this a great course. While a little expensive, it is absolutely worth the cost.
