Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

Gem in Pasco County Florida
Fun, that is the bet way to describe this course. Nice length without being overwhelming. Some holes with really wide fairways, and some holes that your tee shot has to be spot on or no chance at the green. Fairways in great shape, rough not to tall and impossible, but harder to play out of then the fairways. The greens had been punched recently and will be much better in the future, a little bumpy now. If you get the chance play this track, or the South course. You won't be disappointed.
Lake Jovita North Course
Took advantage of aeration prices to play the North Course.and it played as expected, long and exciting. The course has some great scenic holes and wide fairways keeping my balls in play even for high handicappers. The length of time to play was self inflicted but enjoyed the entire experience. I will play this course again in the near future.
An experience that the above average golfer can really appreciate
There's no doubt that Lake Jovita is one of the top golf properties in the Tampa Bay Area. Excellent reputation, regularly hosts a number of notable golf events and is well-maintained and staffed. The remote location not only takes advantage of the natural elevation change in this section of Florida (you feel it on your drive in from Interstate 75), but course designers also pushed around a lot of dirt to further enhance how the 36 holes look and play. Just hitting greens in regulation guarantees you nothing as their size, sloping and speed can easily turn a good ball-striking round into a lot of squares on the scorecard. My day was spent on the North Course and I'm told by golf colleagues that the South Course is considered even more scenic. Places like Lake Jovita are examples of why I wish we could rank courses on either a 1-10 scale or give "half stars," because it is honestly better than simply good (4 stars) but I wouldn't call it excellent (5 stars). Of course, I play all over the country, so excellent to me is reserved for what I consider to be the best of the best nationwide. Specific to its geographical location in the Tampa Bay Area, Lake Jovita clearly deserves all the lofty praise it receives.
Bang for your Buck
The North course is different than any other in the Florida area. Greens are rolling and they are big and fast you definetly need to be on the right side of things. Great deals during the week and not hard to get a tee time on the weekends. The course conditions are better than the last time I played and looks like that are continuing the progress. Overall conditions were good and a great buy if you want to play championship golf courses. Also have outstanding stay and play packages. My buddies and I played 36 that day and had an awesome lunch between rounds.
What a gift to golfers
The Lake Jovita north and south courses are always in great shape. The courses are challenging and forgiving in many areas of your game. The player has to take time and study the layout before striking the ball.
Pristine course. Similar in quality to Orange Lake Legends Course, Mission Inn El Campeon
10:28 tee time w/ wife for $43/ea thru GN.com - Golfnow reward. Teamed up w/ nice couple, Chris & Dawn, & had a great round. Course is pristine. Fun, Lynx style golf except for few tight holes in back nine. Has a few distinct holes. Unlike the South course, this course does not make a turn @ the Clubhouse between 9th & 10th hole. Bathrooms on course nice w/ filtered water/ice machines. Tee boxes, fairways, & greens plush. Greens are huge & elevated & putting true & fast. Huge Clubhouse over the Pro shop. Pro shop well stocked. Counter person in Proshop very personable, not so w/ starter, Larry. Snackshop overpriced: $12 for 2 bottles of soda & 2 bags of M&M peanuts. Battery powered golf carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back. Had it not been for Golfnow rewards, would never get to play this course. Thanks Golfnow.
Always play Lake Jovita when you get the chance
played the North course and while the greens had been verticut within the past 1-2 weeks the greens were wonderful. The terrain, the fairways, the ruff, and the greens all ranked as excellent. The only flaw was the lady tees. They were pretty barren of grass in general. But with a tee who cares.
Great Layout
Greens are still coming back in, but staff gave us a free return card which is greatly appreciated! You don't feel like your in Florida, the hills make you feel like your golfing in NC. So looking forward to playing it again!
Always in good shape, very fast greens
Outside of the 25mph winds the round was very enjoyable.
A quality facility in Central Florida
This wasn't my first time at Lake Jovita and i hope to have many more trips there. This is a lovely community away from the busy parts of the state. The course(s) provide a nice challenge in usually very good condition. One this tripo the course was a bit dry and showed some signs of stress on the greens where there were several bare areas. This is unusual at Lake Jovita and I suspect will be rectified soon as the Summer rains move in.
Fast Greeens
The day was great, a bit windy but other than that it was great. We can't blame our putting the greens! They were just fast. A few bunker need some attention....we did have heavy rains a few days ago but the bunkers should have been cleaned up by now. They were wet and didn't seem to have much sand.
But we did enjoy the course and will be back.
trickey greens
great course. greens were fast and have alot of break, wish i could play more here but long drive.
course was in excellent condition. took a friend for the first time and he said it was one of the nicest places he has every played.
Great Day in spite of the morning!
In spite of a very rainy morning. The clouds dried up by our tee time. The course was exceptionally dry except for two or three wet areas from the rain. The greens were still relatively quick but rolled very true to the read. Second time playing here and it just gets better. Great facility and staff. Wish I could play here every week!
Lake Jovita North
Excellent course with nice landscapes. Long course with alot bunkers and moderate water ponds
Great Golfing Experience
Played the North course, which is so different from the South course. It's a links type course with numerous changes in elevation and many, many fairway bunkers. The greens are large and fast. This is a great course, but especially for snowbirds, because it is different from most northern courses. Wide fairways, few trees, but lies that are generally above or below your feet. It may look easy, but plays tough. The greens are the biggest challenges, especially if you are not use to fast greens with a lot of breaks. It's a great golfing experience. I highly recommend it.
one of my top 5 courses now
Wide fairways with interesting hazards, hidden traps, and lots of fairway roll. The greens were "polished glass" beautiful, and challenging, elevation changes, water hazards, everything you want in a game of golf, wish we could play it every day
need a ball with brakes for greens
Ovarall great course. It rained the day before. Most of the county had two to three inches. The course was very playable with only a few slightly wet fairways. the greens were lightening fast. you really have to adjust your speed, especially up and down the slopes. This course can be made from fairly challenging, to pro tour difficulity, depending on the teebox selection. If you want great golf, play this course.
Lovely Course
Nice course. Lots if challenging holes. Greens are fast. Enjoyed playing with my son on his 21st birthday!
