Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne
About
Subtle but enticing, Crandon is a well-planned challenge built in 1972 by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. In 1993, a redesign by von Hagge brought new greens and bunker configurations. Formerly known as "The Links at Key Biscayne" Crandon Park Golf Course is a championship 18-hole golf course located on the "island paradise" of Key Biscayne, just 10 minutes from downtown Miami.
The course has the world's largest tee, seven saltwater lakes, challenging sand traps, mangrove thickets, and many holes overlooking Biscayne Bay.
You can see crocodiles (they have three), numerous raccoons and Jurassic-sized iguanas darting across the course. The blue and tri-colored herons, white ibises, snowy egrets, pelicans and anhinga grace the fairway roughs and saltwater banks.
From the first hole - a dogleg par 5 that requires a drive over water and mangroves - to the last - another par 5 with water on both sides of the fairway - Crandon Park Golf Course has, in many ways, become Miami-Dade's signature public golf course.

Great atmosphere
Great conditions, great atmosphere, great caddie. Had agreat time.
not worth the price
i really liked the layout but it was in very scrubby condition. The greens were ok for the most part but the rest of the course was...scrubby. It wasn't worth the $185 I paid for a Friday afternoon round....maybe it was worth $60-$80. I decided to pay the premium price because I assumed it was heads and tails better than all of the other courses in the area who were only charging a fraction of that rate. In hindsight I should have just played one of those other courses for $30.
Most scenic golf course in Florida
Everything was cool but even though are reservation said no caddie was required they made us have one before 2:00.
Nice Course Very Slow Play
Paid for 18 holes, only got to play 11 holes because play was so slow we did not finish before closing time. Tee time was 2:30pm. Closing time was 6:00pm. Had senior players 80+ in front that would not let us play through. They fished for balls and talked too much before play. Ranger did nothing to move them along or let us through after we complained after the 2nd hole??
Golf haven
The entrance to Biscayne Island reads "welcome to Island Paradise ". Crandon, is simple beautiful. It's challenging, the price is reasonable, the staff friendly and helpful. I love it so much I am off to play the course in early February. This time with my golf buddies.
If you are in Miami, this is the number one, must play public course. The view of the ocean and downtown Miami from the 18th fairway is simple breath taking.
Great views, great layout, great greens, good fairways/rough
A must play, although expensive. We were lucky to get a great rate with golfnow.com. Really enjoyed every minute.
challenging golf course - fantastic environment
the place is gorgeous and the course is fantastic. Greens very well maintained.
Always a pleasure !
Everything was perfect except....
1) topsand on greens
2) what a bad change that eight elevated green which required a perfect shot compared to the lovely green before that change .!!
Will go back for sure !
A pleasant experience
I played this course with my wife and had a delightful caddy . He helped get us through slow groups and added to the experience. The course is a good layout and has some great views BUT the greens were awful, the bunkers need attention and some of the tees were in serious need of a mower.. Had I been paying the full rate I would have been seriously upset
Valur for money in Challenging course
Friendly staff with Caddy support ... and very challenging course for my handicap
It is jewel of a course.
I have wanted to play this course for years. Got a very good deal on GolfNow so booked it for me and a buddy of mine.
Course was on the wet side on some of the fairways and underwater on some of the cart paths, but who can fault management for that. Each hole served up a special challenge that was exhilarating. The course layout amongst the wetlands is superb. 18th hole view looking back over the bay to downtown Miami was picturesque.
Bunker mania comes into play on a number of the fairways. I counted a total of seven on a few of the holes. Most all of the greens are well guarded that way too. Made for interesting play.
If there is one criticism, it would be the length between the white and the green tee boxes. One being too short while the other being a tad too long. My preference would be a distance between the two, about 6,000 to 6,200 yards, though not a deal breaker by any means.
I plan to go back and the sooner the better before it gets crowded when season kicks in and a course like this command a much higher price and gets very crowded .
An OK Course
Slow pace of play and course in poor condition. Very scruffy! Several holes restricted to cart path only.
Very disappointed considering the price.
Beverage service slow and no marshall on course to check times and keep people moving.
We passed a 3-ball at the turn but then sat behind a 4-ball for the rest of the round. Had to wait on every shot.
Very frustrating.
Ok experience
We started out 20 minutes behind a foursome. We caught them at the third hole and were stuck behind them the rest of the day. There was no Marshall on the course to dictate speed of play or courtesy. We were a twosome that was playing faster then the four older players in front of use. Two further compound things we had a twosome catch us that became impatient and hit into us, almost striking us. Again, no Marshall. Also, the beverage cart personnel had no idea of golf etiquette. We were on the tee box to tee off on a couple holes but had to stop and wait as the cart ether passed behind or in front of us.
I have played this course twice this summer. The course is in good condition and nice to play. But the absence of a Marshall when it is posted in many places that playtime is strictly enforced is disheartening.
Great Course, Slow Play
Crandon is a beautiful Florida course with lots of palm trees, water hazards, and iguanas! I would have given 5 stars but the pace of play was too slow.
Beautiful Challenging Course
Great deal for what you get. Wonderful experience with great Miami views and wild life encounters.
Always it is a interesting to play there
100 % recommended. Get extra balls, sun block , and bug repelent Off.
Would have gotten 4 stars but...
Would have gotten 4 stars however at this time of year there are swarms of bugs that get in your mouth and eyes and I was bitten by fireants and mosquitos on my legs back and ams. Kind of takes away from the fun of playing when you are being attacked by bugs....
Soggy and slow
This course is set amongst the mangroves and palms. Besides being stuck behind a slow group that was horrible, the scenary was great. The course is well kept and it is almost always windy. I would go back but maybe out of season next time.
Just a muni, after all
This course is on a great piece of land, very picturesque, but the greens have fungus problems and are not in good shape. The 15th fairway is an absolute mess, and there are mediocre lies in other fairways as well. Given the rack rate greens fees, this course is way overpriced and does not live up to its reputation. Also, the rough is too deep given the relatively narrow fairways, which really slows down play.
