The Preserve Golf Club

About
The Preserve Golf Club at Tara features Ted McAnlis' par 72, championship golf course. Exceptional care was taken to protect and enhance wetlands and other natural features of the course. At just over 7,000 yards, the course offers four sets of tees, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy a challenging round of golf. Eleven bridges span the many small streams running through the golf course, protecting natural waterfalls and wetland habitats. A unique feature is the 60 foot Mount Matthew, which sits between the driving zones of hole five and six and forms an impressive backdrop for the tee shot. A beautiful clubhouse is open for lunch daily and is perfect for seminars, banquets or receptions.

Expected more
When I turned into the neighborhood I expected an exciting golf course. The greens were terrible and there was litter everywhere. I can’t remember seeing anywhere to put garbage on tee boxes on tee boxes.
I’ve decided that I must be spoiled playing in the Midwest where it is green the majority of the year and courses are maintained. It appears that you must play upscale courses and pay big bucks compared to the average course back home.
Worth playing in winter
This course has a lot of potential. The course needs a lot of grooming, but the price is right. I definitely wouldn’t play in warmer weather, as the many fire ant hills would be much more active. Fire ant hills are everywhere.
Great potential
Layout and pace along with staff friendliness are the highlight.
Condition of fairways and specially greens are low points.
Most greens should not be even called the name. Simply unplayable.
That's a shame because it would be great course if it resolved that.
Great place to practice
My girlfriend, who is learning to play golf and I love this place. We don't need to spend $80 to play a fancy, nice course, packed with people. It is a great place to get your swings in, focus on strategy (lots of hazards) enjoy the nature (lots of gators and birds). The greens didn't bother us, lots of places to practice putting and we weren't focused on our scores. Staff was great.
No maintenance.
The course is awesome, however, bunkers are full of weeds. Cart paths are covered with weeds. But worse of all are the unpainted greens. They have fungus and lumps and weeds, good luck putting.
All that said I only paid $28 for 18 holes.
You get what you pay for!
Local
2 greens were under repair. Remember there were 2 hurricanes to the course 4 months ago .Minimal evidence of the downed tree debris. We will come back. Great value for the price, many holes were a challenge. Thank you for the friendly personal all around.
Glad it was only $30
Sand tee boxes, bunkers never raked and weeds, fairways mainly sand and weeds, only about 4 greens were puttable, blind shots need to be trimmed for safety of groups ahead as you can’t see them!! And FIREANTS EVERYWHERE!! Some time, effort & chemicals would be greatly appreciated..,,,
Never again
I played Tara Preserve for the second time but never again. The people were extremely friendly but the condition of the course was terrible. I know it's December but the greens were horrible with holes and bare patches, the tee boxes were bare ground and the layout was extremely frustrating. Way too many carries over water or swamp, laying up off the tee on par 5's because a good tee shot runs through the fairway into the woods. A totally unenjoyable day of golf.
It was like playing in a cow pasture. The grass was half weeds tee, fairway, and greens. Thats why they’re the least expensive course in the area.
Just get the greens right
Course is a challenging layout but you gotta get the greens going, fairways and tee boxes are fine but you just can't putt on the greens in that shape
Such a shame
This course has a great layout with some interesting holes. We have played it many times over the years but it has deteriorated drastically. Greens, tee boxes, bunkers and fairways are in terrible shape. Hopefully new infusion of money will bring it back to its former condition.
Course conditions
Tried this again after a few years. I like the challenging layout as tee shots are strategically necessary. Most of the greens and tee boxes are beyond poor. Cheap place to play but still not worth it.
Garbage
GolfNow shouldn’t even include this golf course on their website. An absolute disgrace
Challenging layout
Best layout I've seen since Myrtle Beach. Course management is key. Great staff, Jim and Steve, great guys and thanks for the help, I will be back, Ed Hall
