Bad Course
I booked a T-time a month ago through Groupgolfer.com for what I thought was a good price of $22.00 per person. The pictures shown on the web site were quite different than when we arrived. There was very little grass on all the fairways and a few of the putting greens had large spots with no grass. None of the sand traps were raked and there were tire tracks in all of them. I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Spring is coming
The fairways were kind of barren and hard as a rock in places. If you hit a low shot, it would run and run and run, but the high shots would checkup pretty quick. Tees and greens were pretty good - fast as lightening tho. Nice people running the course.

The cash cow is dying…
No fairways, greens OK, easy to lose ball in fairways with no leaf maintenance. I used to really like the course and the staff is nice but can’t recommend…not really golf.

Great layout
I have a great time playing here. Wish the fairways would have more grass but I enjoy playing here. One green had several bad spots but generally the greens putt good!!

General Review.
I had a great time at the course. Golf carts are gasoline powered and start right up when the gas pedal is depressed, unlike other courses I have played. Friendly people on the course as were the community members who lived along the course. A satisfying round of golf in a beautiful Florida setting. I did not use the off course amenities.
Overplayed
Usually my go to course but not enough rain and over play have it hard. Layout and price are only thing going for it.

Nice place to play
Nice layout. relatively easy only cross water one time. One green was a little rough condition but the rest were nice.

Golf Cart conked out
Course is good value and in pretty good condition for wintertime. Staff nice and quickly swapped golf cart with me when mine stopped starting. Carts have torn seats and are in tired condition. Would recommend for low cost round. Paid $25 each for a after 1PM weekday start time.

Nice Design and Course Layout - Needs work!
I enjoy getting out for a quick nine holes a few times a month. The nine hole afternoon rates at Spruce Creek are the lowest in the Ocala area so I decided to give the course a try. (I played this course before moving to Ocala over four years ago and remembered it being a nice, wooded layout.) After playing this course, I now realize the reason the rates are so low. The course is designed very well with doglegs and plenty of oaks lining the fairways so I will say this was enjoyable. The sand in the bunkers was plentiful and a nice soft consistency which made bunker play very good. The really disappointing part was the many dead areas in the fairways and around many of the greens. Some areas looked like they have not been attended to for a long while. Shots around the green were having to be hit off of dirt, sandy ground, or patches of diseased and dead grass. The golf carts had torn seats and the foam padding was exposed. So, this is a great place for an inexpensive round - keep your expectations low and you will enjoy your round.
