Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

Scotland Yards GC

Scotland is a nice little club, it is in a retirement community so there will be quite a few golfers on the course. The clubhouse was clean and nice looking, as well as the pro shop. The carts were clean (gas club carts) be ready for a bit of steering wheel rattling as with all gas carts. Had an issue with the cart on the last 2 holes, no worries, a slight push from another cart gets the motor running.
Now the course, the starter was very friendly (also very busy) and the course was stacked up. Scotland Yards is just that, a rolling track with pleasures and dangers at every turn. The course had a bit of hard play on it and has some rough spots . It's a country course so you get what you get. The blue tee boxes undulate a bit, so you'll have to find a flat spot to tee. no cart paths so its a tight lie where ever you are in the fairway. Greens are small and tough to read, FUN. Do stay out of the sand traps, they are like powdered sugar, tough to get out of. The greens need ball marks fixed (retirement course members don't fix their ball marks), my brother and I fixed 10 each per green. Overall a great little club... cant wait to get back now I know the layout.

fun just needs some tlc

Fun holes. Greens fairly true. But needs some TLC. Same holds true for fairways. Bunkers were great. Overall with a little TLC this could be a great course. Well worth the ride

Unfortunately, the condition of the course is not what I've been used to for many years. It's an interesting course and somewhat challenging.

This course used to be much better maintained. Rye has come in on the greens but is still somewhat long and results in slow greens. Fairways are in poor condition with lots of non-grass areas. This is not the norm having played this course for 20+ years. Can't really recommend this course at this time.

It is a somewhat challenging course as well as an interesting course. Overall the greens are small with many undulations. Hilly nature of the course results in some difficult reads with respect to speed and breaks. General rule of thumb is the greens lean towards Tampa.

Several blind shots and a couple of holes with elevation changes in excess of 50 feet between tee and green. A little bit of everything....traps, waste areas, grass bunkers, mounds, trees and water. If the wind is strong, can have significant effect on club selection. Fairways are relatively straight and not narrow. But to me, it seems the holes all appear different when planning your approach shots.

Wish it was in better shape.....would play it more often.

Super cutie bartender.

The course itself is pretty straight forward. Some hills, wavy greens, and blind areas. A little confusing on layout. But overall a nice wide open course to just let it rip. Most of the holes after my big bombs I was just a wedge into the greens. So not long at all. Very friendly staff. The best part of the day was having a beer after and a conversation with the cute bartender. I'd go again.

Nice elevations for a florida course

Nice course for the money. The pace could have been much faster however there was no ranger on duty at the time. Greens were in nice shape and the staff was friendly!

Scotland Yard Golf

I have been a frequent player for more than 5 years. What got my attention was the staff and the early bird members. Such a cordial environment keeps me going back. Kathy and Terry are just nice people and I will continue playing there as long as I can golf.

Good value course

the course is having a lot of work going on at the moment (cart paths etc). Most of the greens are in reasonable condition (the occasional damage from the birds)--the fairways are good but lots of mud. The staff are very friendly & the restaurant is good.

Great Value for the Money!

I took advantage of the GolfNow special price and played this course for only $9. Everything was cut nicely, both fairways and ruff. I had a great afternoon on a semi-challenging course. My only negative was the condition of the cart paths. It was rare to find any place that was actually paved and many places were washed away to the point where they actually closed the paths and had you drive around them. There were some places that were bad enough that the cart path should have been closed but wasn't. I still had a great time and you couldn't ask for a better course for the price.

A true "Links style" course

Stay in the fairway and you'll love this course--guess you could say that about any course. Nice course. Two of us played it in less than 3 1/2 hours (that included searching for a few wayward shots). Not your typical plush fairway, large flat green, course. Lots of elevation changes, tight lies, plus uneven stances for your second shots and plenty of sloping greens. Beautiful views!! A definite change from your normal Florida course. Finally, couldn't beat a $9 "Hot Deal" for a Sunday, 11:52 tee time.

A must play course. Worth the drive from Lakeland.

We arrived early on a beautiful summer day and were accommodated with an early tee time. The course was in great condition and played well. The greens putted true, perhaps slower than normal due to all the evening rains. Strategically placed bunkers required accurate shots. We had fun and will be back.
