Scotland Yards Golf Club
About
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

This course is a fun play for me.
A fun course to play for me cause of the fairways make me use clubs I don't use often so it's a challenge to do so
BAD day on the golf course...tournament
Tee time for 1157am on Saturday, four players, two fathers playing 18 holes with our sons. Arrived and noticed on an advertisement in the pro shop that a tournament was set for a shotgun start at 2pm on the first 11 holes. I asked if that were going to be an issue with us out there, and was told that we should be long gone by then....???? Well, we weren't. The starter approached us by the 5th hole, and told us we needed to speed up in order to get through to the 11th tee box by 2pm. That's 11 holes in 2 hours time with 2 junior golfers in the carts, not going to happen....but we would try. By the 6th hole, he was watching us hit our shots, which made the kids nervous, my son picked up his ball, and the other boy was struggling to begin with, let alone having another person pressuring him to hurry up. We were approached again on the 6th green by the starter who instructed us to skip holes #7 and #8. and go straight to #9. And when we finished the back side, go right ahead and start again on #1... I offered to take a rain check for 3 players for 18 holes (which I thought was fair given the circumstances, as we had only played a total of 23 holes between the 4 of us) and to get out of the way of the tournament and play another day, but was told 'no, and to play on'. We rushed through the turn and all the people lined up to the tournament, no break for a drink or restroom with no time to spare....played #10 and while on the #11 green, noticed the tournament on the tee box. They were on our butts the next 2 holes, and felt pressured enough that we began to play best ball amongst ourselves. We finished the back side in an hour and 5 minutes with the tournament behind us the entire way, after which I went into the pro shop and was going to get a drink for us all, and was told they were closing the front 9 pretty soon, as the tournament was about to make the turn. I conveyed my dissatisfaction to the pro shop gentleman, that our experience in rushing to play a 3 hour round of golf with 2 juniors learning the game was not to our intention and did not meet our satisfaction, and was met with nothing but an apology, WE QUIT instead of another 9 holes. Very disappointing day on this golf course. I play 40-50 rounds a year and will never be back to this course as a result of it's short sightedness. Our sons had an awful golf experience, as did we as fathers....we paid $84 to play this day, and finished in just over 3 hours due to being rushed the entire day both by staff and tournament players. A rain check would have saved this day and this experience from happening, but to expect a four some to play 11 holes in 2 hours, especially with two junior players.
Last Resort
We arrived early so we could practice on the putting green. The ranger hurried us 20 minutes ahead of our tee time to pair my twosome up. This meant I was able to putt 2 balls before playing. Once on the course, the greens were very beat up and even putted inconsistently. The layout isn't attractive at all for any style course. The name is deceiving, it is not an old links style course either. The restaurant/bar was great though and the staff inside was very friendly. Its more of a restaurant with a golf course attached to it.
Got too fix cart paths
Good fairways, good greens, great weather, poor cart paths
it not that bad of a course
i don,t mind playing this course in the weekend because it cheap compare to other. The staff re very friendly .I payed 16.00 buck cant complain.
not very good
I don't like this course, it is in lousy condition (tee boxes, fairways and greens) plus it has absolutely no character, I plan on never playing it again.
Scotland Yards GC
Scotland is a nice little club, it is in a retirement community so there will be quite a few golfers on the course. The clubhouse was clean and nice looking, as well as the pro shop. The carts were clean (gas club carts) be ready for a bit of steering wheel rattling as with all gas carts. Had an issue with the cart on the last 2 holes, no worries, a slight push from another cart gets the motor running.
Now the course, the starter was very friendly (also very busy) and the course was stacked up. Scotland Yards is just that, a rolling track with pleasures and dangers at every turn. The course had a bit of hard play on it and has some rough spots . It's a country course so you get what you get. The blue tee boxes undulate a bit, so you'll have to find a flat spot to tee. no cart paths so its a tight lie where ever you are in the fairway. Greens are small and tough to read, FUN. Do stay out of the sand traps, they are like powdered sugar, tough to get out of. The greens need ball marks fixed (retirement course members don't fix their ball marks), my brother and I fixed 10 each per green. Overall a great little club... cant wait to get back now I know the layout.
fun just needs some tlc
Fun holes. Greens fairly true. But needs some TLC. Same holds true for fairways. Bunkers were great. Overall with a little TLC this could be a great course. Well worth the ride
it is a good course for the price
would play this course anytime has all different types of holes long short some water some easy some hard
Very pleasant
Scotland yard golf course lools very easy but there is a lot of challenge especially the greens. All of them are very tricky. My friends and I had a lot of fun and will surely go back.
Pace of play
For the price O can't complain other than need a Marshall to move the gilders along quicker.
none
Very ruff fair ways & greens to many ant hills needs lots of maintenance .
Excellent course.
I like the hills. Nice change from most other courses
nice
WAY better than I remembered from a few years ago. Course in great shape and a great value. Pace of play was great ( had an 11:52 tee time )
Lost a GPS and was Very pleased to have it found and returned.
Unfortunately, the condition of the course is not what I've been used to for many years. It's an interesting course and somewhat challenging.
This course used to be much better maintained. Rye has come in on the greens but is still somewhat long and results in slow greens. Fairways are in poor condition with lots of non-grass areas. This is not the norm having played this course for 20+ years. Can't really recommend this course at this time.
It is a somewhat challenging course as well as an interesting course. Overall the greens are small with many undulations. Hilly nature of the course results in some difficult reads with respect to speed and breaks. General rule of thumb is the greens lean towards Tampa.
Several blind shots and a couple of holes with elevation changes in excess of 50 feet between tee and green. A little bit of everything....traps, waste areas, grass bunkers, mounds, trees and water. If the wind is strong, can have significant effect on club selection. Fairways are relatively straight and not narrow. But to me, it seems the holes all appear different when planning your approach shots.
Wish it was in better shape.....would play it more often.
Super cutie bartender.
The course itself is pretty straight forward. Some hills, wavy greens, and blind areas. A little confusing on layout. But overall a nice wide open course to just let it rip. Most of the holes after my big bombs I was just a wedge into the greens. So not long at all. Very friendly staff. The best part of the day was having a beer after and a conversation with the cute bartender. I'd go again.
Nice elevations for a florida course
Nice course for the money. The pace could have been much faster however there was no ranger on duty at the time. Greens were in nice shape and the staff was friendly!
Scotland Yard Golf
I have been a frequent player for more than 5 years. What got my attention was the staff and the early bird members. Such a cordial environment keeps me going back. Kathy and Terry are just nice people and I will continue playing there as long as I can golf.
Good value course
the course is having a lot of work going on at the moment (cart paths etc). Most of the greens are in reasonable condition (the occasional damage from the birds)--the fairways are good but lots of mud. The staff are very friendly & the restaurant is good.
