Scotland Yards Golf Club
About
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

Enjoyed the terrain changes.
The first couple of holes were pretty wet. After that and we started up the hills it dried out nicely. I've played on better fairways, but the greens were well maintained and played really well.
Fun, but could use attention
Overall we enjoyed playing this course and the greens were not bad and putted very nicely. The course could use a little TLC to get into better shape. We had fun and will enjoy playing it again in the near future..
For the average golfer this course has it all.
From the staff to the condition of the course this is a fun place to play. It has some challenging holes but not so difficult that an average player get frustrated. I would highly recommend this course and will play it again.
Nice, simple course.
Great course for the price here on Golf Now. The course is an old one, with cart paths a little bumpy. Lots of rain in the last month have washed some out.
Playability standpoint though, will seem like an easy course for long hitters. Course is very simple and open, if you're looking for a relaxed round at a fun course, this is the place to be.
Sad state of affairs
I first played Scotland Yards when it was known as Sundance Golf Course, that was probably some 15 years ago. It was a wonderful tract that challenged golfers of all skill levels. The fairways and greens were always in very good shape. The course did not seem to get a lot of play because it is a bit of drive to get to it. I last played there some 11 years ago, after the name had changed. Conditions were still the same, great layout, great staff and fast play. Fast forward to 2013.
A residential community has sprouted around 14 of 18 holes. The new addition has completely changed the feel of the golf course. No longer do you have the feeling of playing a true links course, It feels cramped and restrictive, although the homes really are not in play. The greens are in poor shape, the fairways are overgrown with weeds or worse, too many sandy spots, making it a rough outing. I would not reccomend this course under the current conditions. This is regretful as it was a great course with a truly challenging layout for everyone.
very nice
staff was very friendly, the golf corse was very well groomed and greens were very nice and consistence
great course for the $$$$$
Course was in over all in great shape greens were good just a tad slow but were in great shape ....was very pleased with course and the staff was out standing polite and love to chat with customers ..over a AAAA++++ in my book
Some nice elevation changes,fairly open.
Course staff is always friendly. They don't seem to overbook as I usually get mid day tee times and course is wide open. Greens can be good or bad depending on rainfall. Overall I always enjoy playing here even if course is not pristine.
Course was interesting but greens were poor
Course was interesting but greens were herendous. Greens were aeriated and we were not warned. Greens were slow and bumpy.
this course is in poor condition
The course has a very poor layout. The conditions of the greens is beyond explanation ( unless you like putting on sand). Its difficult at best to determine the fairways from the rough.
Until this course gets some serious work, we won't return even at the low price.
Nice scenic course
Some lynx type hole mixed in w/ Florida tree lined holes.Nicely maintained. Greens just aerated & sanded but still pretty fast. Postage stamp greens. Fairways pretty carpeted. Carts are gas powered w/ windshields. 4th time I've played this course & each time I've enjoyed it. Will play it again.
Good value for money
Course was in better condition on back nine. Some interesting holes. Quite an easy course from ladies tee
Nice layout always enjoy playing here
The course was a little rough this time. I have played here may times, but this time the greens were very bumpy. Overall good value
The course just needs a little work
I have played here in previous years and it was okay but the greens were poor and it looked very dry compared to a couple of other courses we played in the previous week.
for the $$$
i got a tee time for $10......how can you go wrong ? greens were in poor shape which made putting difficult.....played thru an elderly couple and didn't see anyone again until i got on the 17th tee so pace of play was good....was able to play 2 balls on most holes.....
Our local course...love it....friendly....great food and service.
The greens were a bit sketchy at the beginning or March but the they have fought back and are are now quite good. I love the course set up...fun holes with some length...you can use every club in your bag. The club house is friendly and well laid out. The food is wonderous...especially wing night every Tuesday...buy 10 and get 10 free...good quality wings.I highly reccommend this course for a good golf experience.
Fun and challenging layout.
Played Scotland three times while staying in Florida. We enjoyed the course which is why we came back. Staff was friendly. Starter apologized for late start due to a league that was going on. Greens are fast and lots of role in the fairways. Overall, my wife and I liked the Highlands and will return next Winter.
Advise friends to stay away
The course has been going down hill for the past 5 years. Greens terrible, cart paths would better suit a cross country track and the fairways getting more like the cart paths annually.
Great deal. Golf/Lunch/Drink under $25 cant be beat. Course was in good condition and staff was friendly.
Enjoyed the course very much. Highly recommended. Course was in good condition and staff was friendly.
