Scotland Yards Golf Club

About
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

Temp Holes
They are doing a bunch of drainage work on the course and had two temporary greens. Other than that the course is in good condition and moderately difficult. Would like to play it when all the work is done and see how it is then.
Construction of irrigation
At this point the front 9 isn’t good and the back was a little better. I est. that when all construction is finished in couple of yeas the course will be great.
I’ll be back year after next for lay out is good.
Course is in good shape considering the lacj of water this past year. Talked to someone on the course and they are getting ready to put in new irrigation so it should get even better.
Doing irrigation
Course net so bad but…what is the idea to re do the irrigation everywhere on the course when it’s the crowdest period of the year ?
Construction
Love this course, but would have liked to know before we played that hole 17 was completely closed. By the look at all the piping around there will be more holes shut down soon.
Course Improvement
This season the couse conditions have improved significantly since last season. The green and most fairways have been worked on. It appears more changes are in progress.
Why
Followed an extremely slow foursome (at least 3 empty holes ahead of them) never an offer to play through & then when finished pound out they STARTED on hole #10! I don’t know if starter sent then there or they did it on 5heir own but either way THIS SHOULDN’T HAPPEN. one & a half hour front 9, 3 hour back nine! 😔
Scotland Yes.
Drove up about an hour and change from Bradenton. Got great value on a hot deal. It was cold, but I got paired up with 3 locals who live in the community, and they were great. Helped me out with course management. Place was in nice shape. Greens were fair and rolling well, fairways in good shape you can see it’s been seeded and watered. Would certainly go back again.
Tees and greens ok.
Tees and greens plus the fairways from 150yrds in were seeded and green. Rest of the course where I hit a lot of shots from was pretty rough!
Enjoyed the round
I enjoy playing at Scotland Yard Golf Course. Pace of play has always been good.
Golf day out
