Golfer Reviews
Solid Course
Davie Golf and Country Club is a great course to play at. The only complaint that I really have is that the pace of play cane be horrendous sometimes, even for being a public course. I once played an almost 5 hour round here due to there being no ranger to keep the pace of play going. However, that isn't the norm and the course is beautiful and challenging, and most of the staff are great. I highly recommend
Good Price but has other issues
This course is good for the price. Problem we had is the course was very wet. Did not drain well so you can lose a lot of balls even if you hit in the fairway. Another thing is the greens do not have the same speed from hole to hole.
Solid course top to bottom
Hadn’t really ever heard of this course before , played it with a buddy on a random mid day and was pleasantly surprised. Course was in pretty good shape, the greens played pretty fast but we’re taken care of. Overall the course was challenging but not impossible to score well on. Had no issues with pace of play. Carts had accurate GPS, which was a great addition into the price point. Would definitely come back and play again.
Not all bad... not good either.
I’m about a 12 handicap. My biggest gripe about the course is it’ll punish really good shots. The greens, for the most part, are all quite small. With greens that size, there shouldn’t be such severe sloping and tiers. Difficult greens to hit that are impossible to hold even when you hit a good shot makes it almost unfair. My suggestion... hit every approach just short of the green. Then short game it to the hole unless you can hit every approach within 2-3 yards of your target, regardless of club. Even then, you better have a ton of spin or be able to drop it in with a high degree of accuracy. Course conditions are passable but it’s ALMOST a racetrack. On the flip side, pace of play was quite good. I’ll play it again. There are some very interesting holes and I’m intrigued by the need to play strategically. If they would improve the maintenance, I would probably play it more often.
DejaVu?
First time playing this course in 10 years. Read about the tee boxes and greens redone. Tee boxes are so-so. Greens are good but undulating and not easy to read & difficult to get up on down for missed shots because of conditions around them. Need local knowledge to putt these greens. Fairways were soft and slow so the course played a lot longer. The rough is not manicured and wayward shots bounce away in the ponds or OB. They should flatten the fairways some as if you hit the upslope on the mounds the ball goes nowhere. A lot of uneven lies, so its not easy to hit those undulating greens in the right spot. Not an easy course to play if tee shots are wayward with the crazy bounces. Would I return? Don't know.
Pace of play is horrific. Not an enjoyable time.
It’s a very nice course, but scheduling is a disaster. I played an entire round of 18 holes sandwiched in between 2 parties of 4; with the one behind me consistently hitting into me; forcing me to all but hit into the group in front of me in order to maintain their pace. It’s not enjoyable; especially given the COVID-19 dilemma. If you don’t have a group of 4, play elsewhere.
Only 9 holes????
Glad someone 19 hours ago left a comment on here!! You saved my weekend! Only reason I came on here was to see my tee time and happened to be able to make a tee time somewhere else! :) whew.. Played here a few weeks ago and honestly was happy with the course. If I came out tomorrow and had to play 9 holes only I would be furious.... Also thank you to “GOLF NOW“ for allowing me to cancel my reservation and make a new one :)
Moooooo
Got a bucket of balls to loosen up before my round. Range was irons only and you smack balls into the water. No yardage markers.
The course. Only 9 holes open. Greens were being aerated and covered in sand, so that sucked too.
Bunkers were sad to try and hit out of. The fairways were pretty beat up and played like a cow pasture. The turn for 18 was clogged so I went home.
Not very enjoyable for that price.
Staff was pleasant.
Like this course
First time at this course and did enjoy the round. I am a senior and normally play senior tees but this course was short so played from the tees kin to when I was in my 40's. Not the tips, but next to the tips. Greens were in great condition and a bit contoured with subtle ebbs and valleys so fun to putt on. The rough was a bit weedy and for the most part fairways were in good shape. Golf carts seem to be relatively new and were equipped with a course GPS which was very nice. Net is I will go back to this course again. Enjoyed it.
Nice and tough!
I’m not going to lie at all. I’ve been hitting a golf ball for 29 years of my life and I’m 31 years old. Played for the USGA and tried out for the US Open at the age of 17. I randomly just made a tee time because it was all that was available playing as a single. I’ve lived in Fort Lauderdale for 9 years now and this course was very enjoyable and a tough track! If your not on the correct tear of the green or below the hole you will have a very long day.... this course is better a better deal than Jacaranda, Palmaire and I could go on and on. Looks are deceiving for the first 3 holes and after that was very flush on the fairways and greens. Happy I found something in this area to play for the right price. Otherwise head your way to Jupiter if you want something reasonable for the price!!!
