Mt. Woodson Golf Club is one of San Diego County's most popular courses for a number of reasons, one being the spectacular setting. Nestled in the Ramona Valley, the course is sprawls across a dramatic landscape of towering oak trees, enormous granite boulders, and sparkling blue lakes. Nearly every hole on the golf course provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and canyons. It is also known for being one of the most challenging and well maintained layouts in the area. The tight fairways and small greens demand accuracy. There are also plenty of interesting elevation changes throughout. The golf course offers true target-style golf that will test the shot-making abilities of even the most experienced players. One of the most unique features of the course is the 450-foot wooden bridge that winds through the treetops.

Wanting better

I have played Mt. Woodson many times, and the only thing that goes up are the green fees. This course a wonderful layout and is pretty challenging, the “fluffy” and uneven tee boxes, lack of a driving range and mobile home cafe does not justify the price. The greens were is good shape and the bunkers were not bad, but at $90, there are other options.

Still a favorite course of mine in SD county.

Overall, course conditions & pace of play were good, with the exception that the post-aeration green speeds were very slow relative to “normal”. It negatively affected our usual enjoyment level, but, we will be back!

Single Golfers Beware

Recently this course has started to force single golfers to share a cart. If you want your own cart, it is now at least an additional $25. They also don't apply the policy evenly. When I was there, it was only single golfers who booked through Golfnow that were forced to share a cart. The "regulars" got their own carts.
