Mt. Woodson Golf Club

Great experience and I see why it is.rayed one of the best public courses. Staff was terrific. Greens in great shape and the elevation changes, water on many holes make for some challenging shots. Not long, but really enjoyable. I highly.recommend Mt Woodson.

Super fun layout. Up and down hills. Bring extra balls it a tight course.

Carts don’t have monitors with distance, but don’t shut down with every wrong turn, like at some courses. My phone was able to give distances even with one bar of connectivity.

No driving range and cafe closes early.

Around 1:45, Just before my 2nd approach shot from 80 out, greenskeeper turned on sprinklers right in front/on green then abruptly turned them off after I said something with no reaction. Now, realizing he’s there, I flub my 2nd shot only for him to now turn on the sprinkler right next to my cart soaking everything albeit a brief squirt. Again, no reaction by him after I questioned to stop!?! Then he (large? darker skinned? big hat) drove off. Very rude.

Love the course. Greens are great. Around the greens, not so much. If I'm 2 feet off the green, I don't expect to have to chip a ball that is in 3 inches deep grass. Bad shots have consequences, I get it. Mowing in certain areas was very poor. You learn from every experience so next time, I'll be much better prepared.

Challenging, Accuracy over distance. Unless in superior condition (even then) don't suggest walking.

I found the staff friendly indoors and outdoors. The course was in great shape. I would definitely recommend this place.

I played Mt. Woodson in April 1993 during a San Diego family trip. Finally managed to get back. Reminiscent of Arrowhead in Denver, Bully Pulpit in North Dakota or even Rio Secco in Vegas. Mountain golf at its best. It is it not overpowering re: distance (under 6,000 yds) - though it’s rated 131 !!! A great test of target golf / just a must play if you are within 100 miles. Excellent greens, fluffy fairways . . . what’s not to love !!!

Such a well-kept course. Worth the drive. Price is fair compared to others. It's a fun and very challenging course. Staff is always friendly and professional.

My favorite Course in SoCal. Spectacular layout and friendly staff. Fast pace of play. No real driving range, so be prepared for that.

Absolute fun course to play, loved the location and course design.

Tee boxes need some work on though

The tee boxes are very close to the prior green which makes it nice to keep your momentum going!

Best course you can play for the price, but this time around I got hit by a stay drive. The guy didn’t say “fore” and didn’t even check to see if I was okay afterward. The idiot should be banned from all courses in San Diego.
