Mt. Woodson Golf Club is one of San Diego County's most popular courses for a number of reasons, one being the spectacular setting. Nestled in the Ramona Valley, the course is sprawls across a dramatic landscape of towering oak trees, enormous granite boulders, and sparkling blue lakes. Nearly every hole on the golf course provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and canyons. It is also known for being one of the most challenging and well maintained layouts in the area. The tight fairways and small greens demand accuracy. There are also plenty of interesting elevation changes throughout. The golf course offers true target-style golf that will test the shot-making abilities of even the most experienced players. One of the most unique features of the course is the 450-foot wooden bridge that winds through the treetops.

Love the course. Hate the pace of play

I love this course but I wish they would hire a Marshall to move people along. There is no reason it should take 4 hours 45 minutes to play here.

My Round at Mt. Woodson

My wife and I played Mt. Woodson for the third time during our annual visit to California. We enjoyed it immensely, as it is a very challenging and scenic course. The drive up into the mountain is winding and long, especially against the morning or evening sun. However, we feel it is well worth it as the course is very enjoyable to play and the vistas are superb.

Solid track

This course reminds me a lot of the courses in Korea that are carved out of the side of a mountain. Don't be fooled by the short length as the greens are smallish and your approach in needs to be struck accurately.

Great Course But Too Slow

I love this course, but the pace of play is unacceptable. To have a group, in front of us, 2 holes behind by the 5th hole takes some of the fun out of the round. Please hire a Marshall to move groups along. A 4 hour 50 minute round is never fun.

Great course, but missing on club house

Very picturesque and probably the most fun cart path system I have been on! The course plays well and is moderately challenging. Despite the surrounding estate homes and beautiful buildings associated with the course, the club house is shocking. Not much better than a mobile home. Small, poorly appointed, and too rowdy.

Pro Shop Employee 1/10

Everything was fine with the round except the start of it. When I walked into the pro shop the worker, I believe his name was Michelangelo, was just staring... felt strange. No welcome or hello or how can I help, literally just stared. So we said hello how are you today and he replied “good, do you have a tee time?” Holy cow! What if I just stopped by to check out some merch just for the heck of it? Maybe show someone around? And I did bring a friend for his first time… I have brought several people to Mt Woodson because it use to be my favorite place to be. Sometimes not even to play, just to shop the pro shop, eat some food and socialize. George the starter is awesome! Very nice guy! Wish he owned the place. Anyways, Michelangelo, made me feel unwelcome from the start. I told him my tee time and he just handed the key and receipt, then said to be at the starter 10 minutes prior.

I grabbed some food and a drink and waited for our time. The younger woman and nice man in the kitchen were fast and friendly! Everything was great about the food experience! Even the cart girl was nice! As for the golf itself, it’s a beautiful place to be, challenging but short, and the greens are rolling nicely. Fairways a little wet and a little dry in areas but not bad. The golf round was fine overall, I just didn’t feel the positive energy present because of the very first interaction i had at Mt Woodson. It just kind of threw the whole round off. I’d recommend to have Michelangelo work a different position and/or I’d highly recommend training him to be a more welcoming pro shop host to keep players/customers coming back.

Beautiful and Challenging course

Not a walkable course, the drives between holes are long but beautiful, with some pretty impressive backgrounds and scenery. Lots of hills make for a lot of up and down, with some challenging lies. Great value for the money. Wish it had a proper driving range though.
