Mt. Woodson Golf Club

About
Mt. Woodson Golf Club is one of San Diego County's most popular courses for a number of reasons, one being the spectacular setting. Nestled in the Ramona Valley, the course is sprawls across a dramatic landscape of towering oak trees, enormous granite boulders, and sparkling blue lakes. Nearly every hole on the golf course provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and canyons. It is also known for being one of the most challenging and well maintained layouts in the area. The tight fairways and small greens demand accuracy. There are also plenty of interesting elevation changes throughout. The golf course offers true target-style golf that will test the shot-making abilities of even the most experienced players. One of the most unique features of the course is the 450-foot wooden bridge that winds through the treetops.

A very tough demanding course -
The greens were super fast -in excellent
Condition
Worth The Drive
When visitors come to town, I take them to Torrey and/or here if I can
Field staff attitude.
Field managers were not friendly and not friendly.Treat customers like trash. Guess they know residency vs visiting players. Last time.
Fun & Challenging Course
Course was in good shape but the greens were unpredictable, some fast and some slow. Good staff and good service all around. One of my favorite golf courses in San Diego. The Par 3s are fun.
Golf
Played off the gold tees, and find the course very challenging. We are all about a 18 index. target golf and if your not a 12 index or better bring a lot of balls with you. Played it many times, and will play it many more times. Great test and greens are fast and challenging to read.
Whew!
For southern CA I would say this course was in good shape. From an out-of-stater it's hard to get used to basically hitting off dirt. The course looked great, but there's not much, if any grass under the ball in the fairway. Greens were in great shape but fast. Scenery was spectacular and the holes characterized the landscape. WOW! If you're looking for a challenge, this is a must play. Narrow fairways, blind greens, sloped and undulating fairways. You name it, this course has it. And yes there are sand traps. But the sand is very thin. Loved the experience and beauty, but found it hard to get under the ball like I'm used too.
Great course layout and true greens
It’s always a great time here. The greens were fast and pins were challenging. I have to remember it’s not always a driver off the tee. Gotta play smart. I highly recommend allowing time to eat at their grill. The chef is amazing. It’s the best hot dog of any golf course in San Diego. Their burger is amazing, too (says my buddy). Staff is friendly.
Paradise
Mount Woodson is one of the most challenging courses in San Diego worth every penny nestled between the mountains. Would highly recommend this golf course. Don’t forget your collar shirt.
A fine day at Mt Woodson......
ahhhh, finally a tee time i could finish before sunset!! Had a great foursome, we were down the middle for the most part. Kinda intimidating tee positions. Was nice to have someone point out the many "hazards" you may find with an off target shot, even a on target shot may find trouble.. Don't need to hit your putt too hard...i was pullin' it back 5 or 6 inches then sendin' it to the hole, that worked pretty good. On a weekday, pace was good, hardly any waiting at all. I need to try and come up here more often...
Rudeness
They called me after my round and told me I had wrecked one of the carts .. I tried to tell the gentleman who called that the cart was like that in the morning to go check the tapes to see that the cart was wrecked before we started our round .. the guy the proceeds to tell me well ok whatever the gentleman was very rude just assuming I wrecked the club cart pretty messed up to assume on the way I look .
Play Once
Glad we played it, but wouldn’t play it again. Spectacular scenery! Unless you hit a straight ball you will lose a lot of them. 5700 from the back tees but lots of difficulty. As an 8 Hcp, I couldn’t see myself playing from the whites at 5300 yards. Lots of elevation changes and sloped fairways meant that good shots frequently rolled into trouble.
