Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
About
There are three nines at the Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club, which can be played individually, consecutively, or as three different 18-hole combinations. Each nine has a unique layout with different challenges but all share the same lush landscape covered with stately trees and water features. The Panther/Bobcat combination offers a mix of narrow and wide fairways, some of which are lined with trees. A few strategically placed bunkers come into play along the greensides and there are also water hazards coming into play on a number of holes. Located just northwest of Tampa along the west Florida coast, the nines represent the best of Florida golf. Silver Dollar also boasts some of the area's most affordable rates, which makes the versatile layouts doubly appealing.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
Silver Dollar is worth the money
My wife and friends of ours were just out there Saturday October 3rd. Fairways could still use some work but the greens were in good shape bunkers were raked and everything else was in decent shape. The staff there is great and the carts are newer. If your golf course doesn't need to be perfectly manicured then Silver Dollar is reasonably priced and more than playable.
Tee boxes need work
Fairways and greens in good condition. The tee boxes are terrible. They are torn up, hardly any grass and hard to find a level surface.
Still an excellent course and great value. Best carts around.
Florida Golf!
My wife and I played the Gator and The Panther for the first time. We do not live that far from the course so I am embarrassed to say it was our first time. I wasn't really expecting much thinking it was a pitch and put type of course. Boy was I wrong. This golf course is all you can handle. Small and elevated greens on the Gator! A mixture of holes, from short par threes's to monster par fives (595).
There is a sense of order to this course which has no broken tees on the tees and no trash on the course. The names of each nine fits Florida and this course is Florida!
GreatValueRoughTooLong
We enjoyed our round. The roug, however, needed a lower setting on the mower. We lost balls just off the fairway.
Terrible condition
Haven't played this course in several years.. Now I know why ! Terrible condition.. Won't play this course again.
Silver
Fairways were a little lengthy. Needed to be mown. Greens were pretty good. Some tee boxes a little patchy. Overall pretty good. Of course wet this time of year here in FL.
wet and rainy
i quit after 9 holes ... rain ing ... i was all wet
Conditions were not the greatest due to rain and recent aireation to greens but it was cheap and good enough to practice .
Might Be the Area’s Best Kept Secret
The course was well maintained. It had a great layout. The price was reasonable. We really had a great time out there. We’ll definitely be back soon.
Worst Condition ive ever played on
If it wasnt for the challenging length and layout of the course i would never golf here again. Ive never thought about getting my money back while golfing, but i did today. The fairways werent cut, patchy, sand patches everywhere. The greens are as bad as the fairways if not worse, they were plugged which they didnt let me know about before booking teetime and they tossed the mud olugs to the side of the greens which added anither challenge. Staff were mediocre at best, guy at the counter looked like he wanted to choke me for being late for a 11 o clock tee time i was 5 minutes lates for with a nice lady a couple holes behind me. The course is also next to a skeet shooting range, the constant shotgun echo throughout the course every couple of seconds was annoying yet amusing seeing as how everything else was so bad obviously the course is next to a clay poundin’ range. The courses comicly awful condition and staff will keep me away for a long time. I would never recommend this course to a child, average golfer or anyone for anything over 10$.
Horrible greens and tee boxes
Sorry, but the greens were recently air-rated.
Paid full price and worst greens in Florida!
First time and last time playing here for me.
Rough Shape
The previous review was exaggerated but not too far off..
The staff was friendly, nice and polite, thats the end of the positives...
Arrived early only to find the range closed due to wetness..
Putting green was smooth, didnt have any flags in it, but had lots of holes cut to putt on. The actual greens were a complete 180 from the practice green.
Tee boxes are very bad, uneven, spotty and small, leaving you very little flat ground to tee off from. Fairways are in bad shape, no 8 inch grass like the previous review stated in the middle of the fairway but there were weed patches with tall strands in the fairway. There is a fallen dead tree on the panther course, but its off to the right side of the fairway, it is an eyesore and makes the hole even tighter..
We played gator/panther and it was backed up from the start, the bobcat seemed to not be used much, with 27 holes to mix in, there should be a much quicker pace...
The gator greens were horrible, full of sand and punch holes, very bumpy and super slow..There should have been an alert for this from golfnow but there wasnt.
The panther wasnt as bad but still slow and bumpy with sand still on the greens.
The layout is decent on all 3 9s but the condition never seems to improve.
Not sure if Ill give it another try or not. Skeet shooting range was full and shotgun blast were non stop.
Horrible condition
This is by far the worst condition I’ve ever seen a golf course in... The one almost bright spot is the tee boxes were in decent condition. The grass in the fairways was 8 plus inches on ever hole and my wife and I spent 5 or more minutes looking for our balls in the MIDDLE of the fairways. Every green had hundreds of plugs which made it almost impossible to put. There was a dead oak tree laying across one of the fairways on the “Panther” course.
Staff was friendly and courteous.
