Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Bobcat/Gator Course
About
Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club offers three unique nine-hole courses located just northwest of Tampa. The courses take advantage of the scenic landscape provided by the west Florida coast. Stately trees dot the terrain as well as several lakes and ponds. The nines: the Bobcat, the Gator, and the Panther; can be played individually, consecutively, or as an 18-hole combination. The Bobcat/Gator layout offers an interesting variety of fairways that range from wide to narrow, tree lined to open. There are also strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play throughout. The golf course balances challenging elements with player-friendly features to make a versatile course that appeals to a range of different skill levels. The versatile layouts and variety of options makes Silver Dollar one of the best values in the Tampa area.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
Going downhill fast
Went to have a fun round but the course has never looked this bad. The greens were only green because they were painted. The tee boxes were mostly sand boxes and all uneven.
Wet and rough fairways, some greens are okay, others in sad shape, some greens the flag pole does not fit into the cup properly. Sad tee boxes. Still fun
2nd Visit to Silver Dollar
This is my 2nd visit to Silver Dollar in less than a year, my 1st visit the course was in very good condition, played the Gator & the Panther. Played the same 2 nines this time, completely different course. Fairways were in good condition although a lot of bare areas. The greens the 2nd time, greens were terrible. You ball bounced around like it was inside a pinball machine, very disappointed with the greens. The putting green, very good condition, led you to believe the greens would be a reflection of the condition of the putting green, Far from it. Based on this visit, would not recommend to a friend and probably will not be returning myself.
Great value - great pace of play
We decided to play last minute and booked an 11:20am tee time. Got to the course - bought lunch - and headed to the first hole. The starter offered us Bobcat instead of Gator since Gator was stacked up with a threesome and twosome in front of us.
We played Bobcat in about 1:20 minutes -never waited until #7. We finished up - and went to slide onto Gator - but there was a wait. Asked if we could play Bobcat again and played it in about 1:15. Never waited until #8. Course was in good shape. Greens were quick. Bunkers were raked but the sand was hard pack. Playing 18 in February under 3 hours - priceless. We will be back.
Mixed bag.
Some of the holes (tee boxes, fairways, greens) were great. Others were frankly horrible.
Meh
First drive past the pro shop to a second lot otherwise you walk 600 yards to the cart shop and then again back to your car. The staff was friendly. The pace of play was excellent. 3:15. The greens were bumpy and pace was uneven. The cups were sloppy. But the price was commensurate. There is a lot of water that you don’t see until you are in it. I would give them a second chance in April/May
Surprisingly pleasant play
The reviews do not do this course justice. Very scenic course! The course has some soggy areas, but not in the areas you should be playing. The greens are B+ to A- and the fairways are B-. I had a great time with the pace of play!
Fun course
Conditions were good, some leaves and dampness. Bit slow.
Silver Dollar
The day we went the course was wet but in good condition
The greens rolled well and were fairly quick
Staff was was very nice and helpful
There are 3 nines
Had a good time
Snappy pro shop staff. But ok course.
Despite the reviews I played this course. The pro shop staff were a little “snappy” almost rude…….I almost left before paying due to the staffs disposition. Definitely unwelcoming! Made it out to the stater who was definitely a gentleman. I played with some great people which made it fun. The course is soggy for no reason. No recently rain and the course was unplayable in some areas due to the wetness. Layout is fun. Lots of wildlife including alligators. The setting is quirky as it is set amongst mobile homes & rv homes as well as as fairly new community with what I would guess are $800k homes. The “restaurant” is outdated and feels like you’ve stepped back in time. There are 3 - 9 hole courses. They will assign you to one or two depending on if you’re playing 9 or 18. I’ve had better experiences at better courses. With the condition of the course and facilities you’d think the staff would be happy to have patrons.
Art in the pro shop was horrible
I hope the mgr Ron sees this and takes it to heart.
Let me start off by saying, I have been in the retail industry for the past 30 years, so I know a thing or two about hospitality.
For the price, you can’t beat this place. It has a great layout generally the staff is very friendly and accommodating.
The greens and fairways can be hit or miss depending on the time of year.
After coming many times in the last several years, the only thing that’s always consistent is what a nightmare that Art in the pro shop treats the guests. I have many friends that live in the community and it’s always the same message with this guy.
He talks down to your clients, he’s very condescending, and overall he’s a complete JERK.
He has NO business dealing with the public, the best place for him in that environment is washing carts.
I can assure you that he is costing you revenue and he puts a bad taste in anyones mouth that has to listen to the garbage that comes from him.
I have wanted to post this multiple times, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
He has zero benefit working in the pro shop and there’s no doubt he’s WORTHLESS working customer service.
I plan on posting this on several websites and getting in contact with the board of the community.
Ron, I want you to know you have a great golf course here in Odessa, but he’s doing nothing but bringing the place down.
Sincerely,
Len Booth
Art in the pro shop should be fired.
