Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Gator/Panther Course
About
Located just northwest of Tampa, Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club sprawls across the lush landscape of the west Florida coast. The club offers three nines: the Gator, the Panther, and the Bobcat. The nines can be played individually for a quick round or in three different 18-hole combinations. The Gator/Panther layout offers a good balance of challenges and player-friendly features. Narrow, tree-lined fairways are complemented by generous landing areas. There are sparkling lakes and ponds that come into play on a few holes and strategically placed bunkers are situated along the greensides. In addition to the three golf courses, Silver Dollar boasts one of the area's most extensive practice facilities, which includes a full driving range, two putting greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sandtrap, and three practice holes.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
The course was in much better condition than in November. Some.bare spots n places but very playable. Staff very friendly & willing to please.
So slow
We played on ladies day and expected slow play. But the front nine took 2:25 minutes. Then, when we saw the group in front of us were only playing nine holes, we hurried to the 10th hole only to find a two some snuck in front of us so we had to wait again. Finally that group skipped 2 holes because of another slow group and we skipped 1 hole and it still took over 2 hours. I will go back again or wait until the snow birds are gone.
Better to find another course!
Quite honestly, this was the most unhospitable golf complex I have visited in my golfing career. From the check in with the guy in the pro shop to the pace of play with four people and four carts for each group.
The pro shop was well stocked and about 300% higher than most. The help there was extremely rude and did not have one ounce of customer service. I would fire that guy if he was my employee. I think he must be a work camper or something, his name tag said he was from Wisconsin or somewhere like that.
The carts are old, and in dire need of repair. This course is flat and even at that the cart barley made it around the course. As I mentioned above, most foursomes in front of us all had four carts. Mostly husband and wife combos and to say the pace was slow is an understatement. To make matters worse, don't plan on ANYONE letting you play through. The group in front of us had three open holes in front of them and would not let anyone play through.
When I approached them, they simply ignored me, and told me to wait my turn like everyone else.
The course is moderatly easy, and greens were very long and very slow. Maintenance was just so-so. Flat course.
This is a golf course located in a trailer/rv park. Loaded with people 70+ on the golf course. If you play 18 holes plan on spending at least 6 horus.
If this was the only place I had to play golf, I would give up the game.
Noisy but fine
Nice course 3 9's. Played Gator & Panther.
Well layed out.
The man at the Desk was a litte bit confuse. Two poeble for my flight no Show. The Starter was Berry helpfull.
Even Worse Than I Remember
Dirt fairways, slow, bumpy greens, basically a farm field mowed.
In addition, having cement car paths throughout the course is a great idea. When you get to the tee, the sign with yardage from each tee is a great idea. You don’t see that too often. The first time I’ve ever seen an armadillo on a golf course. Overall great round.
Awesome course!
We have been playing here since the 1980's keep coming back
A Fun Course
The staff and course were great. We had a fun time and loved the layout.
Silver Dollar Golf Club
This was a challenging course for the money, the staff was great except the guy at the counter did not like the fact that we had bought on golf now.
Our parents are in there 70’s and it was nice not being pushed!
Very long but very nice
This course had 6 par 5s which made it very long and hard to play. This would be good for long hitters of which I am not. In very good shape staff were friendly. No complaints.
Great Course at a great price
I have been playing Silver Dollar for years now and was never a bad experience. The new greenskeeper has the tees and greens in impeccable shape. This course has a great labour good fair ways, and nature abound. Great to play there and recommend playing here.
Cow Pasture
Paying $10 to play in a cow pasture makes the local RV snowbirds happy, but for someone who lives in the area and plays golf weekly, I prefer better conditions. You get what you pay for and this course lives up to the $10 expectation. Mostly retirees that live in the trailer park are playing here. The photo of the dried up pond under course details about sums it up.
We played there just yesterday and the course played great. People should go see for themselves in my opinion.
Best bang for your buck
Received a golf voucher to play the course at 1:45 but being early, got sent out early, surprisingly. We followed no one and had a single a few holes behind us. The course is challenging enough, particularly the water holes. My partner, a long hitter, ran into difficulties. Not hitting as long, I had no problems. The greens were quick & in good shape. The cart server was friendly & came around often. We got around in 3 hours, had fun & were well pleased with the course. While there is a nearby shooting range, there were few bang bangs, and not enough to be a nuisance. You can shoot a low score here if you pay attention & are careful placing your shots. Go for broke & you’ll be sorry you did.
Enjoyed it.
It was our first time playing it and we were almost the first out in the morning. We sailed around but I think it would be slower, later in the day. We got turned around on a couple of the holes because it wasn't well marked. Will play it again.
Good for the money
Golf course is in very good condition, few fairways need some improvements, all greens are in super condition, the food and beer are excellent and very good prices!
Wife and I played there yesterday and found the conditions to be one of the best in the area.
