Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Donald Ross course
I really enjoyed every bit of this course . The pro shop and bar were great as well as the starter.
The course was fantastic. I wish they had senior rates but I enjoyed playing here.
Nice course
I play this course about once a month would play it more but gas and tolls kinda eat me up coming from Chuluota …Good greens.. Fairways ipretty good …this round was four hours and 40 minutes, which kind of took the shine off the pumpkin if you catch my drift, worth checking out if you’ve never been there very easy to get to off of I-4
Great shape
I play Mayfair very frequently. The last I’d played was toward the start of the year. The greens were in really great shape. Some of them have clearly seen some needed work done. Fairways also were in decent order. A few tee boxes looked a little rough but that’s about the only issue. Great value for a course that’s continuing to improve.
Nice course improving every time I play there
Course is getting better every time I play there. Fairways are spotty, greens are getting better for the most part. Need to get a move on the clubhouse.
Enjoyable vacation round
I selected the Mayfair CC golf course for a second round while my wife and I were traveling through the area, initially as we drove by the course. This was the second round based upon my first experience which was very enjoyable. The fairways and tee boxes had some issues from winter weather and recent rain, but overall the course was in good condition. I would play there again because the experience was very good, and the staff and local golfers were very friendly and accommodating.
Coming back
Course is in much better condition than a few months ago. Greens for the most part are much better, but a little inconsistent. The worst green is 12, but is getting better, they are trying to get it back. Fairways are a little sparse in spots, but getting better. Price is good for a course that gets played a lot.
Slow Slow Slow
A 10:12 teetime turned into a 10:38 tee-times and it still played slow ( 5 hours slow). The starter said they had a 60 man shot gun start at 8 and were trying to put the tee-times in between them and according to him this is common practice for this course he was about fed up.
Decent Course for the $$$
Mayfair is consistently a decent course to play.. Its noting special but the greens were in excellent shape. Fairways & Tee Boxes could use a little TLC. All in all a pleasant round.
Low Budget
The only reason you would come here is if nothing else available. Tee times were running 30 mins behind pace of play was awful 5 hrs. The course layout is great bul conditions deplorable. Sparse grass everywhere, geens sloped and hard as concrete. No fun chipping from no grass to a green thats impossible to hold!
Fun (windy) golf round
For my second round ever on this course (twice in one week), I was pleased again because of the course challenge (wind and layout) and staff friendliness; I booked online with the GolfNow app (non-hot deal) and was paired with a couple; my wife rode with me again without a rider fee which was welcomed; the course had some areas affected by the winter conditions, but I was aware of winter conditions which are unavoidable by course management; I enjoyed the round despite the gusting winds (20+) and realize my game is also coming out of winter affect; I played here a second time because my first experience earlier in the week was worth the green fee and overall experience.
Under 60, don’t bother
They are very proud of how fast their greens are, which they are but they aren’t smooth. So while they may be as fast as Shingle Creek, they are as unsteady as the Grand Canyon. Also they have a special for those 60 and over $35 miles high makes it look like a retirement community. They also have just enough carts for the amount of people on their course, which makes for frustrated employees.
Not worth
First time playing this course, way overbooked with lousy tees to greens conditions. Only plus was the course provided free range balls.
