Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Nice layout
Good wide fairways, well maintained, but with adequate challenges of trees and water. Greens are good, role true and somewhat fast.
NICE VOURSE AT A GREAT PRICE.
Overall the course was in excellent shape. Fairways and greens west well maintained.
While I don’t expect in cart GPS or anything at the low price we paid I do not think it is too much to expect ball wading stations at each hole and a sign with a diagram of the hole along with yardage from each tee box.
DON’t GO THIS TIME OF YEAR
I waited to leave this review until it happened multiple times.
THEY ARE OVERBOOKING THE COURSE. 30 minute tee off delay and they made us walk the first hole because they didn’t have enough carts. Meanwhile we pass by groups of 4 each with a cart to themselves?? The management clearly has changed or they just don’t care anymore about your time there. It took 5 and a half hours to play 16 holes?? Enough.
I love the conditions! Greens are great! But management is screwing themselves over.
Just OK
I really wanted to like this course but pretty disappointed. The pace of play was too slow with no rangers anywhere. The conditions were average but I thought the greens were fast and true. Cigarette butts all over the course - LOL. The clubhouse is a trailer. I am guessing they will build one eventually. Golfers driving the carts right up to the green. Unbelievable. No dress code. Need an illustration of the course on the scorecard. Friendly employees.
Good course
Overall course is in good shape. Greens are super fast. Fairway grass is very short and thin, but at least there is grass as some courses have had spotty grass.
How slow can you go
The course was in pretty good shape. Greens were a little slow but in good condition. The pro shop and starter we friendly and helpful.there was a line at the first tee but we teed off at our proper time of 10:28. Things moved along ok until hole four where it backed up with 3 groups waiting at the tee box. There was a 40 minute wait and no marshal in site. The front nine took over 3 hours to play. We played the back in just over 2 hours for a total of 5 1/2 hours for the round. We got teamed up with a great guy named Barry and enjoyed our round despite the length. Unfortunately Barry had to bow out at the 14th hole to pick his kids up from school. Really needed a marshal and a beverage cart would have been nice too.
Pass
5.5 hours to play a round of golf. Pathetic. No ranger to keep pace. Not great conditions. Not worth your time or money
Fun and fair
Very Donald Ross. The greens are small(ish), pretty quick with falloffs. Fairways are good. Rough is a bit scrappy. The par 3's are just tough, especially in windy conditions.
Nice to play a course that has what appears to be an active membership at a fair price.
Decent Course
Decent course. Golfnow hot deal is good value for money. Greens are very fast. Layout is great. The fairways are decent with bare spots here and there. The pro shop staff and the starter were very courteous.. Will certainly play here again.
Showed up for my 3:24 tee time and they were an hour behind on golf carts. Charged me a full 18 holes but kicked us off the course after 9. Fairways were good but some of the greens had sand patches. Not worth the money, fairways is cheaper and better overall.
Had no map of Lay out
Had no map of Lay out. Didn't know where we needed to hit. Kept an eye on group ahead so we could tell where tee was.
Back nine was better for visual.
Will be better next time when we know where to go.
Potential
Great layout and that is the only positive. Overplayed public course, tee boxes hacked up uneven, many bare spots no sprinkler coverage, and too many carts have worn off any chance of grass growing. If you do hit the fairway you may get a good ly. Greens were challenging an most were sanded and shaped like a turtles back.
Worse tha last time
Conditions are fair and worse than I played there 2 months ago.
Course
Course is not marked at all. Directions terrible, tee boxes and greens are very close easily could get hit by a ball, very dangerous. Staff unfriendly and in helpful.
You will 3 putt
Overall condition not bad. Fairways mostly decent no too many Barr spots. Greens good condition and lightning fast. Stay below hole is best advice. Starter warned me.
