The Crossings At Carlsbad
About
Southern California has no shortage of scenic oceanfront golf courses, but the Crossings at Carlsbad still manages to stand out. With the Pacific Ocean to the west and the southern California Peninsular Mountain Ranges to the east, the course's scenery is truly stunning. The golf course will take you across rugged terrain, through canyons and wetlands accentuated with sagebrush and native flora. Water or sand comes into play on almost every hole but if you can manage to hit straight and keep it in the fairway, you'll be generously rewarded. The golf course finishes with one of its toughest holes. You begin with an intimidating tee shot into the coastal breeze with bunkers on the left and a canyon on the right, then you face an approach shot to a severely undulating green framed by trees and bunkers. In addition to the course, the Crossings at Carlsbad also has a lighted practice center.

Already Rebooked the Next Round
Perhaps the nicest public course we have played. The facilities are beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. The value for a Hot Deal far surpasses every other SoCal course we've played. At the regular rate, it's still worth playing here. The course is well maintained and while other courses in the area have a lot of dry patches, there's very little of that here. It's very scenic with views of the canyons, the ocean and some planes taking off from the Carlsbad Airport. The course covers a large geography and is well marked to get you to the next hole. It's definitely a cart only course, but carts are included. There is one blind tee shot, but there's a person on the course to tell you where to play the ball and also to let you know when you are clear to hit. The greens are large and often teired, but rolling nicely. They break a little less than you think. There are some protected habitat areas that must be carried, so it's probably wise to carry a few extra balls. Currently, range balls are hit off of mats - not my favorite, but usually needed at times. Overall, we enjoyed the course so much, we rebooked it for our next round this week, rather than trying another area course.
Great venue and staff
The course was in super condition. Greens are big and undulating. The marshals kept the pace of play up without making you feel rushed.
Very tough course.
Grass in many sections was dead. This was difficult to hit off of this hard pan ground with no grass or dead grass. Grass in many areas was extremely difficult to hit off of. Club would stop or open face of club when trying to hit ball off of this crab grass.
Ball rolled very badly on greens. Some greens soft, other greens hard and bumpy.
Many tee off areas had only dead grass.
Really good track
Second time at the Crossings and maybe the best I have played in San Diego, especially for the price. Aviara is really good but for the buck this place rocks!
Outstanding Value
I've played alot of courses over the years (mostly in Midwest) and would rank Crossings as one of my top three courses to play based on condition, beauty, and price. We played Torrey Pines the day before and this experience was significantly better. Playing Steele Canyon on Friday and I'd be shocked if I gave it a higher review. The only minor drawback was some waiting on each hole.
Good golf course
This golf course is really beautiful as well as the club house and the restaurant. Length of each hole is great and green is well shaped. We enjoyed this golf course every time we visit here from Japan.
Very interesting course in a beautiful setting
Very pleasant course to play
ugly noisy and bordering on absurd
Play this course only of you want 20 minute rides from tee to tee. Ugly dead ravines and scrub everywhere. I would never play this again.
Best in the area
First time playing the course. The staff was excellent, available and super friendly. The course layout is one of a kind with great views.
I found the course in excellent shape in early August. It will be a course to go back each and every time I am in the area. I have played the other courses in the area that hosts PGA and LPGA events but this one is even better than those and much more affordable.
pretty course
some really interesting challenging holes. a lot of driving between holes. we were a 2some and they put us behind a 4 some so it was slow
Excellent round at The Crossings
Played an excellent round with my two sons at The Crossings. Booking on Golfnow was easy. Upon reaching, the staff (both at the pro shop as well as the Starter) were extremely friendly and accommodating.
The course itself is in pristine condition. Very interesting layout and impeccably kept. Had a fantastic round. Hope to be back in future!
Ambassadors
The ambassadors are seen too frequently. We were hurried along many time even though our group was 7 minutes ahead of pace. And on the 16th hole one of our carts failed. Apparently this happens regularly .
Good value
I have played this course before and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is challenging but very fair. The conditions were excellent and the greens rolled fast and true. My only complaint is a minor one and that is the tremendous distances you travel between holes particularly on the back nine.
Otherwise well worth playing and for the money, a great value.
CCC
I got out to the Crossings last Wednesday, June 8th. We teed off around 1230 with a good amount of play at the course. I last played this course a couple of years ago and conditions were pretty consistent from my previous experience.
The course if fun from a visual standpoint with elevated tees, views of the ocean, and the numerous crossings of the canyon. I am always surprised at how much ground this golf course covers.
The course overall was in good shape. The greens were very sandy for my round and made the greens slightly bumpy. Any ball hit on the green made a huge "splash" of sand.
The course if fun and challenging. I'm not sure I would pay a posted rack rate but for the price I paid on GN it was a good value.
One of my favorite courses
I've played this course about 5 time and each time I alway make the comment of how much I enjoy the course and the dramatic layout and great condition.
Beautiful Course
Well maintained course with very friendly staff.
Not a walkable course since the distances between the holes is quite long! Lovely scenery!
